Boo.. I hope your ankle is okay. Betty... good luck with your fill. Julie... 16 pounds to go... amazing!!!! You look so great. Can't wait to hear how your half goes. I am jealous... mine is not until January. I ran 5km this morning with speed drills. Still sick- so not a great time and not the most fun ever, but it was fine and I am happy to do it. I weigh in tomorrow, so I will let you all know. My big run in Saturday (big for me at least... 14 km) Have a great day. Facebook.. I am on there... I never post pictures here because I have a hard time downsizing, with our speed on the net, but I have a page there (no befores of course). Anyone want an invite to face book, send me a pm and I will email you an invite. Have a great day!! Dawn Banded arpil 4th, 2006 montreal 358/163/148

Wow... Julie you look fantastic. I wish I looked half that good. love the suit. I have been sick all weekend, but still did my 5km this morning. It is supposed to be a fast 5km, but it wasn;t fast- hard to run fast when you can't breathe well... but at least I got out. How was everyones weekend? Does anyone out there use facebook?? Talk to you later, Dawn banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/163/148

I had a great 10 km this morning. It was 1:08:02, but it included a 1 km hill at a 8% grade... so I was happy... boy that hill was a killer, but I need to work on it. I feel great, with the exception of the fact that my kids and I are all feeling a little sick. I was glad to get the run in before I come down with whatever this will be. How can we all be doing this??? Amazing. Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/163/148

Forget the fill if you are doing okay. I have only had 1 fill and am happy with that. I know I will have room to fill some more if I need it. You guys are all doing so great!!! Take a moment and be proud!! Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/163/148 I run because I can !!! -

Hi Everyone, Julie... I see you are now hooked on Lululemon too. Did you go to the store I recommended?? I love their running pants, socks and I found a sports bra that works... and you get the cutest bag when you buy stuff!!! YEAH. Boo... I have run a few times in the heat (southern Ontario can get to be around 100 with high humidity in the summer- that's when I visit my family and am not in the Arcitc) but I hate it!!! I will take -35 with the windchill at -55 anytime!!! My last run was cool and windy and it was best time ever... go figure!!! I am feeling good- even if the scale are stuck. But like you Julie I will get where I am going. I figure I have 7 lbs to go to the next goal and 17 to my final... so if it takes me a year then so be it. Right now I figure 2 lbs a month is good. Ihope you all have a great day!!! Dawn Banded april 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/165/158

You guys and your sub 10 minute miles!!! Yikes I don't think I could get that low. This morning I ran 5 km ( it is my fast 5 day) in a a 9:56 per mile pace and I thought I rocked!!!!! My weight is still bouncing between 164 and 165.. but hey let's be realistic it is bouncing in the 160's!!! I hope you all have a good night!! Dawn Banded April 4th, 206 montreal 358/165/158

HI all, I had a good weekend... my weight seems to be bouncing between 164 and 165... maybe the additional training?? anyhow I am really not focused so much on the weight as I am on the running. My long run on Saturday was a bit tough, but I did it. I ran 13 km in 1h 31 minutes... so I was pretty happy with that. Next week I reduce my distance and do 10 km for my long run and then build again the week after. have a good week everyone!!!
-
If I were you I would start in the morning doing yoga, stepping or aerobics at home. Twice a week to start would be great, that way you are at home but still building strength. I know it is a struggle it was for me... but now I run 4 times a week. Dawn banded April 6th, 2006 Montreal 358/165/158

I am running the disney 1/2 marathon in January. My longest run to date is 12.67 km, but I have almost 4 months and have been building slowly. Good luck and train well.. remember the courage to start is what it is all about!! Dawn Banded Arpil 6th, 2006 Montreal 358/165/158 -
You can do it Julie!!! I ran a 5.03 km this moring. My fastest to date (31:12) which puts me at a pace of 6:12 a km or taa daa.. 9:58 a mile!!! Finally made it under a 10 minute mile. Well... things are crazy at work... so I had better go. Dawn 358/165/158

Hi All! Yep Boo... we are almost the same height. I am 5'5"... so we are close. I am glad you are having a good time at the spa. I had such a good run this morning... I was finishing up at 9:00 so I thought about you Julie!! I ran 12.67 km this morning. I am never fast and don't really care- I was 1hr 29 minutes... but I had such a good run. I was really steady - my split times were dead on. My pace is 7 minutes a km (sorry so Canadian of me to only think in km). So how is everyone else doing? I hope well!! Have a good weekend. Hi, Yeah... I only have 9 lbs to lose, but I have a feeling that I wil reset my goal to 149.9 That is the weight I need to be in order to be normal. I am 5'5''. But I am also aware that I want to be realistic. This body has been through a lo and I need to honour that. If my body is strong and healthy and 155 is where is wants to stay then so be it. As well, I have that pesky loose skin and no plans for ps... so that is extra pounds just sitting there that I can't do anything about. I had an okayish work out this a.m. I ran on the treadmill - trying out new shoes- and i hate the treadmill. I did my run, but it is really not inspired. I am definately an out door runner for sure. Saturday will be 11.5 km... and hopefully the weather will cooperate with me... but even if it doesn't I am gonna do it. BTW... I have a line of work out clothes that I am LOVING... does anyone use Lululemon athletica? I know they have a location in NY at Lincoln Square. I ran in their shorts all summer and fell in love. I do not like compression shorts and I get really hot. And there pants are cute, colourful and very functional. Their website is lululemon athletica | home and from there you can get a list of stores. Treat yourselves ladies!!!!! Have a great Thursday!! Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/167/158 ???

I just wanted to add my words of encouragement to all those out there beginning their journey. It's amazing, difficult and wonderful. I am 1.5 years out and am 9 pounds from goal- the readjusted goal after I got below my first goal. I am running now. On sunday I ran 11 km... who would have thought!! good luck to you all!!! Thanks for the message about where to find you guys... I am here. My exercise is working pretty well. I ran all over Europe, every other day like clockwork and that worked well for me. So well in fact that I am going to continue that and supplement 3 days a week with weights and stretching. Julie... 15 miles!!!!! What are you friggin wonder woman!!! You totally rock!!! You are also leaving me in the dust with weight loss... you are amazing and you should be so proud,. Thanks for the invite Boo... you really are so kind. I am happy with where I am and know that I am still going to progress. Can't wait to see how we all do!!! Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/167/158... 9 lbs to the 200 lb mark!!!! exercsie this month= 7 to date

DeltaDawn replied to JulieNYC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
HI Guys, I know I have been so sporadic lately, but I wanted to send in a hello to all of you. I returned from my trip, but had meetings all over. Now I am back up North and enjoying the cooler weather. It helps with my running. I ran a fantastic (for me) 11 km on Sunday. My time is slow... always, but I don't really care that much. I am working on getting ready for a 1/2 in January so we'll see how it goes. I see you guys are doing really great!!! I am happy to be home where organizing my own food is up to me. But really, I was away for 2 months and I lost 7 lbs, so I can't complain. I hope you are all grand!!!! Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal, Queec 358/167/ 158... and then we'll see - original goal was 179... so who knows!!! -

Wooo hooo Julie... you are leaving me in your tracks!!!!!!! You are so amazing!!! It has been a good summer for me, but I can't wait to get back to our house with our food choices etc. I have had a few great runs this week. I hope this weather breaks soon. High today in Southern, Ontario is 95!!! Yuck, I can tell you I was running early this morning. I had a great run a few days ago - 8.5 km so that felt good. I should get going... so much to do!!! Passing For Thin - Support Thread for Those Approaching Goal
DeltaDawn replied to JulieNYC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
JUlie, Congrats on being... Overweight!!! I too keep thinking, how is it that people are telling me to stop losing weight? How can it be that I only have 10 pounds left till goal... isn't that what normal people need to lose? OF course my goal may modify when I get there... it has already done so twice so far. I am sick right now so I haven't run since Thursday... which makes me irritable (but at least I worked out twice on Thursday before getting sick). I am in Southern Ontario (those of you who don't know me, I live in Arctic Canada), and am visiting family. I went out for dinner last night with just the adults (brother, sister and our spouses) and my brother commented that know I am the thinnest in the family... it just still shocks me you know. I still often see myself as really heavy and just can't seem to shift that perspective easily. Does anyone else have that problem? On a personal note my son ( a sweet 8 year old who has Asperger's Syndrome) is off to sleep over camp for 2 weeks... I am having such a hard time not having him here.... I hope the 2 weeks goes fast!!!! Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/168/158 -

Okay guys... I am back... I couldn't find our April 2006 line, but I found this. I must admit I haven't read through all the posts... you guys are wonderfully verbose!! But, I will join in. I am 10 lbs from goal, which is scarry and wonderful at the same time. Julie and I are always close by, good to see it is still true after my month in Europe and being away from you all. Well, I can't wait to see how this thread develops and maybe someone can let me know where our April thread is. Dawn Banded april 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/168/158 Had a good 8 km run yesterday!!!! -
Hi all, quick note... I am off the Europe tomorrow and I don't know if I will have access. I am over my horrible run, I ran 7.5 k last weekend and it felt good... so I guess I will be okay. I am in Ontario, and on a new scales here, but I am down a few pounds. I hope you all have a great summer. I will post if I can, but if not I will 'see' you all in August!!! Best of luck. Dawn Banded April 4, 2006 Montreal 358/173/165 Exercise... ohh I haven't counted but still doing 5 times a week.

Well... this has been the toughest hurdle for me, and I admit that I didn't want to share, but here is goes. I ran my 10 km on Saturday and nothing worked well. Yes I finished, but oh was it ugly. I am still not sure what happened... I mean I could understand falling apart in the last few km, but frankly 5 km is usually easy now and I was sucking wind and dying at 2km! It was hot with a lot of direct sunlight pouring down, so maybe that was it. I have never run in anything hot. I felt totally dehydrated and every step was awful. My first half I managed ok time, but by7 km I was running 1 minute and walking 3. Which is no where where I should be according to my training. So... my time was 1:18 and it was ugly... just ugly. The time doesn't bother me too much, but I can't fathom was it was so horrific from 2 km on. They actually asked me at 5 km (it was a loop) if I wanted to stop... yikes you know I am looking sad. Anyhow, a day off on Sunday and a weight work out today and tomorrow it will be a run again. Yep... I do not feel like a runner today. Julie... congrats on your race. You actually helped me get through. I kept saying Julie is doing this, I can do it too. Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/175/165 Exercise sessions this month = 7

Julie... you rock. Did you say you are doing a 10 km this coming weekend? Me too!!! My first so I am worried... but it will help to know we are doing at the same time! I have a slight pull in my hamstring, so no running until Thursday for me!!! My plateau is gone for now!!! Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/175/165 exercise sessions this month = 2

Hi Kittyhorse, I have to chime in with everyone else (Julie and me are practically twins!!). I have had 1 fill, 8 weeks post op and have not had any since then. I am slowing down in my weight loss now, but ... I reached my first goal and am working hard towards my second goal. I also added exercise. I am in a 10 km race this weekend, which is amazing considering my weight last year at this time. So... believe in the power of your dreams... and use the tools available to support those dreams. Dawn Banded April 4, 2006 358/176/165 Exercise sessions this month = 1... darn that pulled hamstring!!!!

June is here and it is snowing!!! Okay... who's crying for me??? I will be in Montreal in a few days, so warmer weather is near!!! And then, off to Europe for me and my gang. The scales finally moved, but I am hoping it is not just a dip down. My big news is that I have registered for a 10 km just outside on MTL on June 9th. I know I can do it because on Thursday I ran 10 km... first time so I was pretty pumped and some tired. I ran the 10 km in 74:58 (just under the goal of 75 minutes that I had set for myself.) Well, I hope you all have a good weekend. Chat later Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/176/165 Exercise sessions this month = 0... but it will be one by mid day!
