geez... I was just typing for 15 minutes and lost it all!!! so, this will not be as long. I can see we are all going through struggles as we near our goals. How the heck do we do maintenance? I have never been at goal, so I have never in my life maintained. Any ideas??? Sorry this is short... where did that post go? I had a good run with speed training yesterday, and tomorrow is a 10 km (my taper back week). I am in Montreal again, and can't wait to get home!!1 Bye, Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/159/148

I hope you are all well. Yep... Julie, we have so much to be thankful for. I know that I am blessed. Yesterday was my long run... 16 km, which I did in 1:47, which is a pace of 6:40 a km. It was a good steady run and I was really happy with it. Tired afterwards, but happy. Today is just a fun run for me, so that is nice! Have a good weekend everyone, Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/159/148

I hope you all have a nice weekend planned. It is Thanksgiving here in Canada, so I am looking forward to a nice bonus day with my family. I weighed in this morning and the scale was straight 159... so slow but steady it is creeping down- seems about 1.5 pounds a month now. Julie, I know how it feels when it slows down so much... it is tough. I have my long run tomorrow - 16 km so wish me luck. chat later and lets all think of things we are thankful for!! A daily fight for our lives... I like that. I believe it is true!!! I weigh in tomorrow and I will let you know how it goes... tough when I travel and also, most likely like you Julie, my body wants to be where it is... we'll see!!! Have a good one everyone!! Hi Everyone, I hope you are all doing well. As always when I am travelling, on my own, it is harder to make good choices, but I think I did okay. We'll see how the scale reacts on Friday. I am on the flight home today (yeah!!!) I did the run for the cure on Sunday with my good friend whose wife has breast cancer. I ran, he walked and then I back tracked and met him on the walk. It was emotional to say the least. There were 25,000 walkers and runners in Montreal alone. Julie... I agree with Betty in and out doesn't always = in weight loss. You body has gone through a HUGE transformation and it may need some steady time. You are training so much (I am sooo inspired) You will do it!!!!!!! We all have to have reality checks. I went to the running room to pick up my race pack and we had to decide on the size for the run for the cure shirt. I asked to see the large and xl... and the lady at the table asked if I was getting it for someone else. When I said no she handed me a medium and said that was what I needed. I am wearing it right now... and she was right. I still don't see myself that way. Betty... you amaze me!! Keep it up!!! Chat later, Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/160/148

Hey everyone, How is your weekend going?I am in Montreal on business. Today i ran 15.5 k. It was a good run... not easy but fine. Tomorrow is the run for the cure, which I will be doing with my friend who has breast cancer. I hope you are all healthy and strong. BTW... new pants... size 10!!! Julie and Boo... it is so hard for me to get a handle on my weight. The scales was down (to where it was) today - 159.6. I still think I have weight to lose, but I won't kill myself for it. It is hard as I have extra skin. My size 10 pants I bought are loose on my thighs, but tight on my belly so??? I also want to run better, faster, longer and to do that a few more pounds would help. But... I'll think about it and if the weight is determine to have me around here, than here I will stay. Now, what about you Julie??? Aren't you 10 lbs lighter than me??? I had a great, tough run on Tuesday. Tuesday is my fast 5 km day. I went fast (for me) My time was 27:50 for 5 km, and I just about threw up at the, end and had nothing let in the tank. But that is a pace of 8:575 for a mile, so I was happy, and tired. I am now telling myself that I need to slow it down a bit. I can't keep these knock myself down runs. Today I did intervals for 30 minutes and that was good. Saturday is my long run 15.5 km, in Montreal... I'll see how it goes there. then Sunday the Run for the Cure (5km) for my dear friend with breast cancer. I will shop a bit in Montreal (so great for shopping!!!!!)- really very European. And I will let you all know what size I bought. Bye for now, Dawn Banded april 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/160/148

Well, Boo, you are lying to me know!!! The scales is not being friendly with me. We are not the same weight as the scales jumped back up again. 162.6.... I guess this is my time to complain and look for some more control. I am determined to get this last 15 lbs off... but at the same time I won't go crazy for it. I had a good run on the weekend and a fun run with my new puppy ( a stray husky has adopted us!) and that was great fun. I am going work my a** this week and see how I do about 2:20... we'll see though as I have lots of hills on my route. Hope you all have a great weekend. Dawn Banded april 4th, 2006 358/163(argh!!!)/ 148 I am in Montreal from thursday until Wednesday next week. Julie... you rock and I emulate you like you couldn't possibly believe. My goal for my 1/2 is 1. to finish, 2. to feel good about it 3. to finish in under 2:30 and 4. if the fates are smiling to finish in under 2:15... you have already killed that. Way to go. I figure with my time on my 15 km I can probalbly shoot for

Hey guys, Sorry I haven't been around this week. Life gets crazy some times. I knew my weight would bounce up a bit, as it was a lot lower than expected, but still I am 160.6 today so that's okay. I ran 15 km this morning in 1:41... I am working hard to keep my pace consistent and not to get too tired at the end. Crazy to think that I have to work to not go fast I travel to montreal on Thursay for meetings and am doing the 5km run for the cure on Sunday with my friend who has cancer!! I hope you are all well. Hi guys... the run was tough this morning... started out great, but after 8km I was tired... who knows. I think I went out too fast, and my son woke me up at 4:00 so I was a little short on sleep. Oh well... some days are like that. Have a great day alll. DAwn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/160/148

Well, I am hoping that everyone is well. Boo, I hope your ankle heals. Betty... you can do it, what are you seeing at the movies?? (no theatre here). Well, my news... the scale finally moved. Now I will tell you that I always round up so... my new weight is 159.8... so my ticker will be 160, but I am just so happy to have seen a 5 there. Today is my day off and tomorrow is 14.5 km Have a great Friday!!! Thanks for all the support. Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/160/148 12 lbs to go!!!!

You should never feel anything but fit and lean Julie!!! Just like you are. The belt sounds great. Today I wore my husband's shirt to work... he is lean so I felt great. I wore it with my size 12 gap jeans, that I was told are just too big!! Hope you are all feeling thin and wonderful. Dawn Banded Arpil 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/163/148 -

How often do you work out?

Thanks so much Cherrybomb! There are so many inspirational people here!!! Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/163/148 -
Hi everyone, Boo... sounds like a great run. I am a big believer in taking time for fun running. In fact I incorporated a fun run into my schedule. On Sundays I run just for me- whatever amount I want. Some weeks it is a full 5 km, a few weeks ago it was just a k and sometimes it is more of a hike and site seeing tour. I am glad that everyone is well. Today is my speed work day. It was rainy and windy (gusting to 50 k,), but I went out for 30 minutes. I feel good now and am relaxing with a well deserved cup of coffee!!!!

Thanks for the details Julie... it will be helpful for me when I do my half. When is your marathon? Today is a break day for me. Tomorrow is 30 minutes with speed intervals (yep those kill). I am really hoping to be down on my weigh in on Friday... keep those fingers crossed for me. Hope everyone is well. Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/163/148

way to go!!!! Don't forget that it is really okay to take walking breaks. Runner's world just had a big article on this. Good for you!!!!! Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/163/148

How often do you work out?
DeltaDawn replied to Cherrybomb's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I run 4 times a week ( 2 short runs - 5 km and 1 long run - building it up, but right now 14 km, and 1 run just for me... for fun) As well I do weight training twice a week and stretching daily. Is it enough? I hope so... I know that it makes me strong and at this point in time it isn't that much about the weight loss as it is about making my body do things I never thought possible. Running: scared but thinking about trying it
DeltaDawn replied to madfroglady's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I have to jump in here too. When I started the couch potato to 5k program I tripled it just like Julie. Also, before I even did that I started running 30 seconds and then walking 2 minutes... I did that for a total of 20 minutes, twice a week to start with, then 3 times... Now I run 4 days a week and am training for a 1/2 marathon in January (Disney baby!!). My training run on Saturday was 14 km. I am not fast at all, but I love the feeling when I am finished. If I can run for 1 1/2 hours (I still take 1 minute breaks every 10 minutes... it is a very popular philosophy) then there isn't anything I can't do... that is what running does for me. BTW, I have never been a sports girl and was shocked when I found out that I truly was addicted to this!! Best of luck all of you... If I can do it so can you. DAwn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/163/148 -
I just found this thread... I have 15 lbs to lose and it may be too much, but we'll see. I am 5'5'' and my current weight is 163. I wear a size 12 on the bottom and a 16 on the top (thanks to my girls... still there and big). I have some areas that are down right skinny, but due to extra skin and such, it is hard to judge. Exercise is my key to losing and keeping it off. Today I ran a fast 5 km and am in training for the disney 1/2 marathon in January. Best of luck to all of us in getting this last bit off. Hi all, No... I am not too skinny for sure, just needed to move this weight around a bit. It doesn't seem to want to go anywhere, but it will (wink). I had my best 5 km ever this morning. It was tough... let me tell you. I use the nike+ipod (without a nike shoe) and I downloaded my stats the other day. It was then that I noticed that I always get progressively faster. I thought... I must have a lot left to do that, why don't I try going at that pace, not all out, but a steady fast (HR 170ish) and I'll see if I can maintain it. Sure enough I did. Now it wasn't as fun as it normally is... this was work today, but, I did it a PR (and on the Nano with the Nike+ Lance Armstrong congratulates me). so... today I ran 5km in 28:55 which is a 9:19 pace per mile!!! I hope you all have a great day. Still waiting for details Julie!!! Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Motnreal 358/163/148

Julie, I was checking your times and let out a great hooray... when I found out!! You should be soooo proud. I am jealous and can't wait for my turn too. Tell us all about it. You rock!!!! Have a great week everyone!! Dawn Banded April 4, 2006 Montreal 358/163/148

Hi, I just got back from a good run... it was 14 km today. I took me 1:39 and change. I am a little tired now, but really happy too!!! I am thinking of you this weekend Julie. Have a great half!!! Hope you all enjoy your Saturday!! Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/163/148
-
oh Julie... you are soo good. I was hoping (and really deserved) a loss this week, but I don't count 1/2 lbs and that's what it was. Oh well. I a still 15 lbs to goal, but feeling good. when is your half? I will of course be checking it for you (last name???) anyhow I hope it goes great. I have 14 km scheduled for Saturday so I will be thinking of you. My dh is started to tell me not to loose any more weight.. how is that possible? Since I have had no ps, I do have pouns of skin, so I have skinny wrists and shoulders and a flabby belly... how will I know when the time is right for me with this extra skin??? Have a great weekend everyone!!!! Dawn Banded April 4, 2006 Montreal 358/163/148

Passing For Thin - Support Thread for Those Approaching Goal
DeltaDawn replied to JulieNYC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Julie, I hear you. I am having to get used to having roaming eyes and sometimes hands... something that I haven't had to deal with since I was a teenager... almost makes me not want to loose anymore (almost... but then I would run slower ) I am still having to face the fact that I am almost at goal. My husband... who now I weigh less than. Is really telling me that I am almost too thin. I am not, but parts are really lean- but I have lots of loose skin that isn't going anywhere so... what's a girl to do. That of course throws off my perspective on how I look and feel. But... I know that I am strong, healthy in good shape and doing what works for me... and you know what, that really is enough. Betty... I have one of those wonder guys too. Always been so grand, even when I was big. Let's hold those ones close!!! Dawn Banded april 4th, 2006 montreal 358/163/148
