Thanks for all the warm welcomes everyone!!! I guess for me my success to date has come from just really being in the right space mentally to have the surgery. Also my dear great guy (married 16 years!!) is supportive in just the right way- never says what I shouldn't eat and stuff like that, but always praises me and makes me feel like the tough days are worth it. Hi Yoda! Nice to have a reply. When you start a new group it is encouraging to hear from people right away. Yeah... I think I have been lucky with my weight loss (at least to date), but I also know it will slow down soon. My husband has been great and he has lost 15 lbs too ( would like to lose 20 total he says!!) Some days are hard though and I am sure that you know what I mean!! I am really alone here (I live in the Arctic...) so I am thrilled to find this group! thanks!! Hi Yasmina, I too am Canadian. Just to let you know, I got my insurance company to pay for the cost of the band (around $5000). It is considered a medical device and my company covered this. I am living in Quebec (but from Ontario) so it may be different... but it never hurts to try. The rest I covered. I found the pain of the surgery a little more than I thought it would be... but certainly less than other medical procedures. I flew home (live in Northern- Arctic Quebec) 3 days post surgery. It has been really worthwhile! My family (2 kids ages 4 and 7 and great hubby) have been so supportive. My little girl says I am less flatter now (she always said flat instead of fat!!)
