Julie!!!!! OMG!!!!! Congrats to you!!!!! I have an appointment to see a plastics guy, just for TT next month. But, I am asking the ministry of health (Canada!) to pay and it might happen. Besides that I am in training again, and hoping to do the Ottawa Marathon- we'll see, I just came off a 30 km run so I am doing my first long run (20 km) this weekend. I'll only sign up for Ottawa if it feels good... might not be enough time!! You guys are all so great. Dawn Banded April 2nd, 2006 Montreal 358/155.6/148

Where in the world is Dawn? Okay I am here. Thanks for the push Guysis. I just got fed up with not losing and sticking at 157... I kept thinking I will wait until I lose a few and then have a good news report. But, my weight is tenacious. I saw my surgeon who is a really smart man. He told me a few things that I needed to hear. First, I am 7.1 lbs from a normal BMI, and that without PS it most likely won't happen. At 5'5", my body doesn't want to give up anymore- because he figures I have 20 lbs of skin kicking around. I know I am eating more than I was, but I am training more so I need to. Also, I have only had the 1 fill (10 weeks post op) so I have very little restriction, but with my current training, I don't want more restriction. My big news is that this weekend I did the Around the Bay 30 km run. It is the oldest road race in North America (beats Boston by 4 years). It was tough, amazing and exhausting. The last 10 km is all hills, with a climb up a mountain at 27 km, but I did it and I am proud. I am considering doing the Ottawa Marathon in May, just have to decide if I want to keep this level of training up or not. Since I am slow (my 30 km was 3:55), this level of training means- 4 hour runs on the weekend. With two little kids that is tough. So, that is me... I can't possibly go back and read all the posts... would you all mind a quick update??? Losing me I might be doing disney too!! Dawn Banded April 4, 2006 358/157/148

I had to pull up during my run yesterday... hamstring a little sore. I have a 90 minute run scheduled for tomorrow, so I want to be careful. Okay- advice... who has a garmin... I am ready to break down!!! Pleas share your story and what you like and don't like. I have worked this week. Went back to no eating after 7:30 and I am down. I am getting closer to goal. We'll see if I can keep it up!!! Have a great weekend!!! Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/153.8/148 less than 6 lbs to goal!!!!!!!

How cold am I... -33 today, so that might give you a hint. I have been having a great week and am hoping the scales will give me good numbers on Friday. In 2 weeks I see my surgeon (first time in 1.5 years). Just a follow up. I am hoping not to have a fill, but will if can't budge the scales. I know it is not the best solution for me... I need fuel to run in this cold!!! How is everyone else. I bought a new coat... LLbean size medium!!!! Yeah!!!! take care all of you and think of me running hills tomorrow at 6a.m. in the cold and dark!! Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/157/148

With Dr. Christou at the Royal Vic. I paid $17,000. Worth every single penny!! He has a website Weight Loss Surgery » Home I have been so fortunate!!! Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/157/148 I run because now I can!!!! -
Boo, sorry about that flight. It sounds awful. I fly a lot (or at least I consider it a lot), about 15 flights or more a year. I fly in all types of planes including a small 10 seater. I am used to flying, but when it gets rocky I really hate it!! I have never had a flight that bad though. (I have had some doozies). God for you for dealing with it so well. Yo should be proud. Well, after my Christmas mishap, I am back in swing and more than ever determined to get these last8 lbs off. You guys were all so supportive of me and my eating binge... thanks. I had a great run on the weekend, in the cold.. -40 is just cold!!! I am working on my new training schedule. I am training for Around the Bay 30k Road Race, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada (the oldest road race in North America!!) and then, I am thinking about doing the Ottawa Race Weekend : Home Page The Ottawa Ing Marathon at the end of May. I hope you guys all had a great holiday. Best of all wishes for a grand new year. Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/156/148

Okay, will someone please tell me that this is a blip and I will be okay? for the first time since I had the band, I really ate. Something went... oh well and I ate all Christmas, which is unlike me. I just ate. You guys know I have had only 1 fill, so my restriction is almost nothing... apparently I can eat an entire meal including dessert and still eat ALL my stocking goodies and then hover looking for more!!! OH MY!! So of course the scales bounced up 4 lbs... there goes all the hard work I did to get down... but I had a good 5 km run this morning. I begin training again on Sunday for a 30 km in the spring... did I tell you guys about that run? I hope you are all great. I got a jersey, wrap dress for Christmas from my husband. It is from my favourite boutique that I only visit in the summer. I can't believe I got clothes for Christmas and it fits!!! I keep saying I will post pictures when I get to goal... We'll see. Have a very Merry Christmas, holiday and new years!!!! Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/157/148

It really works!!! I started running a little over a year ago. I doubled the program (i.e. took two weeks to do what they said I should do in a week). I now run 4 times a week,, did a half marathon last month and am training for a 30 km in the spring. Dawn Banded Arpil 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/154.6/148

Consider a space saved!!! I could never run when I was heavier... I needed to lose a little first, but know it is an obsession. We can do it!!!!!! Good luck and the goal will be yours!!! Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/158/148 -
Successful losers what is a days food for you?
DeltaDawn replied to Liz1531's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have no idea what the docs are talking about with no fruit. Yes, it turns to sugar, but guess what.. our bodies need sugar too and pure sugar is much better. Any doctor who says you need to choose between lean and healthy would make me wonder. I can run if I am not healthy. Lean is coming... I am almost there. So.. here is my food intake for yesterday. Breakfast: 1/2 cup of 0fat yogurt, with a quarter cup of fruit!!! 1 rvitka cracker bread (40 calories) with 1 tsp of goats' cheese Snack: rice cake Lunch: tomato Soup and 1 bagel bite (50 calories for a bagel bite) and 1/2 cup of yogurt Snack - candy cane (opps... but a better choice than the fruit cake) Supper: 1 oz of chicken, 2 tbspoons of rice and a plate of salad and I mean a plate!!!! Dessert: 1/2 rice krispie square. My calories were around 1100. Now I run 4 times a week and completed a 1/2 marathon a few weeks ago. So... fruit is mine as is everything else I want... in moderation!!!! Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/158/148 -
I used the couch potato to 5 k program to start running and found it fantastic. I completed a half marathon last month and am training towards a 30 km in the spring. BTW... I live in the Arctic. Ran 12 km on Saturday at -35!!!! Good luck to all of you!!! Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/158/148

A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?
DeltaDawn replied to Wheetsin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, when I started my banding journey I was 358 lbs, at 5'5" with a bmi of 59.6, which definitely put me in the super morbidly obese category. I am 1.5 years post surgery. My current weight in 158 with a bmi of 26.3. I need to lose 8.1 lbs to be at a regular bmi. So... I am really planning on getting there. It is possible. I started running a year ago and it has made all the difference. I ran a half marathon last month and am training for a 30 km run in the spring. This is going to be such a great Christmas. What did I ask for? CLOTHES. I am hoping for a designer wrap dress!!!! Why? Because I can!!!! Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/158/148 -
I am still the same weight... but have decide to kick it up this week, in a vain hope of getting a few pounds closer to goal by my birthday (I will turn 40 on December 23rd). I had a great 5 km this morning. Life is good an cold!!!! Dawn Banded April 4th, 206 Montreal 358/158/148

Will I go for another fill? It is a question I keep asking myself over and over again. I have only had the 1 initial fill a year and a half ago (10 weeks post op). This has meant I have had only minor restriction... but that is fine as it is a tool. But... I might just need that extra kick to get to the finish line... we'll see. Here goes my goals... (i did a 1/2 marathon a few weeks ago so...) 30 km run in March (Around the Bay... oldest road race in North America... Hamilton, Ontario, Canada) Fall 2008... a marathon... place to be determined. Also... I would like to get these last 10 pounds off!!! Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/158/148

I didn't have any complications with my band, and have only had 1 initial fill. That seemed to work for me. There is no 'gym' here in the arctic. I started 6 months post op with running 30 seconds and walking 2 minutes. Slowly I ramped it up. I have been blessed and really wanted to get these last few pounds off. Good luck!!!!!! jlove69... I have been there... I was 358, but now I can say that I can't wait to run my 12 km tomorrow morning... and I live in the Arctic and its -30!!!! But I run because I CAN!! Dawn Banded April 4, 2006 Montreal 358/157.2/148

I had my surgery with Dr. Christeau at the Royal Vic. It went well. I had it 1.5 years ago, and have lost to date 200.8 lbs. I am almost at goal. I started running a year ago. I have done a half marathon and plan to do a 30 km run in Ontario in the spring. I feel fortunate to have been so lucky with this... no complications at all.
