Omg feeling so guilty right now

Totally in agreement with everyone else. Please, oh please don't beat yourself up over this. I can almost guarantee, because you are feeling so guilty, that it isn't going to happen again for quite awhile. The weight loss that you will be achieving will be the motivator that will keep you going. You will be okay.:smile2:

    Any Kansas City bandsters???????

KS_I'm with ladykcusa there is a lot of support here. ladykcusa-Thanks for the reply. Not familiar with the store but definitely with 95th & Nall. Also thanks for reminding me of consignment stores didn't even think of those. You are awesome. So glad you are on this sight. You are so helpful. I think why I didn't think of consignment shops was that I was hung up what could be on the evening news "68 year old woman arrested at the new Overland Park Dunkin Donut for indecent exposure when pants fell to the floor because of recent weight loss surgery my Malley Surgical and lady is too cheap to buy new clothes because of this" Thanks again ladykcusa.

    Any Kansas City bandsters???????

Totally understand about the "eating too much thing". That was what I was feeling. Even though I was scheduled to go for a fourth fill on July 7th went last Thursday instead. Another .4ccs with much better restrction now. Doc not happy though because I have to go so long between breakfast, lunch, dinner as I work ten hour days and I am going to long without food. Have to eat string cheese between meals now. I'll give it a shot and see if that helps so as not to consume as much food. Anyway, good luck on your next fill, I'm cheering you on from across the river:thumbup: as this might just be the fill that does it. I know where Ameristar is at and boy do I. Haven't been though in a number of years. Love to play cards, Texas Hold'em and BJ. Now have to spend that money on clothes which is a good thing:rolleyes2:. Thanks for the website definitely going to check it out. Definitely good luck on the fill.

    Any Kansas City bandsters???????

Ladykcusa-I'll not learn unless I ask, especially if I don't know. Please tell me who and what is Savers, where are they, etc. etc. I know I was sorta poking fun at myself, but I really am going to have to get some clothes. I feel terrible in these baggy clothes even though it shows weight has been lost. Thanks for all your support and help.

    Its working!! Its working!!!!

Boy, doesn't it feel good when the scales finally move, espeically in the right direction:waytogo:. Even though we are eating correctly, it sometimes takes that little fill for the right restriction to make it work, or start working again. When it works it makes us feel sooooooooooooooo good. I'm in your corner, keep it up as it does work.:smile2:

    Any Kansas City bandsters???????

Received an e-mail that they will be closing the exchange because they need the room. Don't know when this is to take place but was led to believe it will be shortly. Unfortunately I am one of those people that works weekend  and can't even get to a support group meeting which I would love to attend, wish they would have one on Wed, Thurs, or Fri which are my days off. Seriously thinking of going to DAV thrift store, Salvation Army, etc. etc. though to get new pants and blouses until I at least reach my goal.
  7. I too had to go on a supervised 6 month diet per BC/BS but didn't lose any weight and I got approved. I did have the comorbidities with a BMI of 40, plus I was over 65 years of age, which I had to find a surgeon who would do the surgery. This all took place starting last Sept. with the surgery on 3/17/10. I think with some insurance companies the operative word is "supervised diet" and since we associate "diet" with weight loss we think we have to lose weight. They also required my primary doctor supervise the diet, which he did, but he was wanting me to get this surgery because of the comorbidities so he just noted my medical file that he seen me for weight loss and discussed diet. Did he actually care if I lost weight during this period, no. All this information was turned over to the insurance company and got the approval within three weeks. Just an FYI for you.

    Any Kansas City bandsters???????

Now to everyone in KC-- I have a problem, I'm a tightwad. We just were given a dress code at work and one of the sipulations is that no pants below the waist (I'm sure you all have seen that great look where the pants hang to the mid thigh area especially on young men and they are holding them up by the crotch?) well that is now my problem and I don't want to spend any money for new pants but I guess I will have to if I still want to work. Got another fill Thursday and up to 4.2 cc's, didn't lose but 1/2 pound and I wasn't happy with that, but there again pants are dragging. But all is well as definitely lost inches these last couple of weeks, thus pants down to mid thigh. (Want you all to picture a 67 going 68 year old woman who looks something like Maxine, walking down the street holding up her pants at the crotch, she would definitely be in style, all she would have to have is purple pants with a red hat). Hope this brings a smile this weekend here in KC as I am sure we are all unhappy with the rain and wish we could be enjoying some sunshine without the high temperatures and humidity.

ladykcusa-Fantastic weight loss, you are doing so great and a great inspiration for all of us banders . I love to make people smile as I feel "life" is way too serious.

    Any Kansas City bandsters???????

Windus---You're right. My EOB showed the surgery center charged (now hold on to the computer or your chair)$42,000  and the surgeon was $15,000 and the anesthesologist was $1,500 . I now have reach the point where I would have to pay $130.00 for refills if my insurance didn't cover all but the co-pay. So with the size of band you have you'll never reach what it cost us here in the "great USA" nor would anyone with a 10cc or 14cc band. I had a friend that also went to Mexico for lap band and I think paid something like $6,500. His surgeon though increased his prices shortly after that to something like $8,000. But still cheaper for all that have it done in Mexico as that includes the surgery center/hospital if I'm not mistaken. Hopefully, you do reach that sweet spot though. I'm cheering you on  :smilielol5: .

    Any Kansas City bandsters???????

With that kind of chg would like to have gotten there yesterday, in a matter of speaking. $250 is a OMG statement. So no matter what, you can get banded cheaper across the border, but in the end the fills in the USA will ofset that cost almost. Golly, really hope you definitely get to that sweet spot and fast. My insurance pays all but a $35.00 co-pay. So as long as I work, I'm okay, so retirement is out of the question for a while. Just joking on that one. I'll probably never retire, just wouldn't know what to do with myself.

    Lets Celebrate !!!!!

In a short three months went from a 20/22 with elastic band to a 16/18 button band that actually slips over my hips without being unbuttoned.

    Any Kansas City bandsters???????

You are right that is a big fill for the small band. I have the 10cc band. From what my doctor has said even though it is 10cc they can put a little more then 10ccs in it. I sincerely hope though I don't have to "ever" get to that. Just want to get down to where all the doctors are comfortable with my weight loss. Hopefully, you will get the restriction that you are seeking with your next fill. From what I read on my size, I should definitely reach a "sweet spot" between (I think) 4ccs-6ccs. So, maybe on Thursday I will get there. Keeping the fingers crossed.

How important are the rules really?

The battle was lost, possibly left with tail between legs. White flag flying. Who knows, but a debator he/she wasn't. All the postings were awesome and a lot of insight. Bravo, everyone.

    Any Kansas City bandsters???????

Windus...how many cc's are you at. Thursday will be my fourth fill and right now I'm at 3.8ccs. I feel a little restriction but still feel I'm eating why to much even though it is only protein and veggies (no potatoes included). I actually don't know how much I should eat, what I have read is about a cup, and I feel I eat more then that. Don't snack, have protein shakes in the morning and the only calories there is the protein as mix Unjury (chocolate with black coffee). Just scared I'll put on pounds which actually makes be feel like I'm failing again if it happens :waytogo:. Glad to see and hear from someone in the KC area.

    Any Kansas City bandsters???????

Okay Kansas City where are you all at????? So here is my story and I'm sticking to it. Got another fill on 6/3/10. My fill two weeks prior on 5/27, wasn't the best experience (doc had problems finding the port but won't describe anything as not to scare anyone-I survived and that is what counts)....So anyway this time I thought I would pull the doctor's leg sort of speaking. When the nurse and the doctor entered the room, I said "doctor, did the nurse not tell you, I didn't come for a fill today but just wanted directions to the new Dunkin Donut in Overland Park"? Needless to say, I still ended up with a fill and of course the doctor had a smile and I had another two pound weight loss. So that is my story and this brings a smile to you also. Hope all of you had an uneventful weekend and enjoyed the rain. Don't know about the rest of you, but I feel like I'm developing web feet.

    New 60+ Thread

KarenIn--well I'm reading the post, but like you where is everyone? Maybe now that we have taken off weight we are getting out more and more and don't have as much time to blog especially if the weather is nice. Just my thoughts. With my weight loss, even though it isn't a whole lot, I'm now able to walk more and do more without becoming tired and breathless. So much different then just six months ago. What a life saver the band has become. I'm like you love to walk whenever I can. Try too, but still put in a 40 hour work week, 10 hour days so try on my days off. So keep it up. Enjoy the rain while you can, it keeps us cool even if the ground is soaked. I'm just imagining what July and August will bring when we don't get those showers as much. And getting out in it will probably take our breath away. I've still got quite a few pounds to go before I "might" consider a swimming suit;>) to stay cool in the pool. Good to hear from you KarenIn, enjoy your walks.
  21. Froggie-Thanks for your thoughts. I hadn't given it a thought that I could eat large qty of meat and veggies, just thought I was eating too much of them:tongue_smilie:. So I called the dr's office yesterday, to have my fourth fill moved up. I was banded on 3/17/10 and have 3.8 cc's in the band as of 6/2/10. Dr said I didn't have to come back for one month but could move up the appointment if I wasn't feeling any restriction. So I probably didn't need too. I guess it should be called patience, I was just scared I wouldn't keep taking off the pounds if I didn't feel some sort of restriction. Congrats on the weight loss. Once again thanks for the imput, I should have just stopped and thought.

    Constipated!!! Help!!!

Might use a mild laxative and then you might start using Benafiber and its recommended dosage per day. I put in my Water and don't have any problems. The orange taste, to me, like Tang and the unflavored I mix with Crystal Light. This accomplishs two things, get the necessary Fluid and Fiber. Have used it since banded on 3/17/10. Haven't had any problems. If you are still taking pain medication this can/will cause constipation. And if you are eating solids you might not be getting enough fiber which is what benifiber is for. Hope this helps.

    Any Kansas City bandsters???????

Hello everyone, so enjoy reading the blogs and congratulations to you all. I don't go for another fill for another week but the pulmonologist scales basically showed me at the same weight as before my last fill last week. This is why I hate getting on my scales, because if I have put on a pound or two, I feel like a failure. So I avoid it. But, I decided on Friday that I would try on a pair of pedal pusher (have not exposed any part of legs in fifteen years or more, new experience) that I had purchased a couple of months ago for the day I could get into them. So tried them, they fit, hip hip hurray. Told hubby though didn't care for the waist band as it was a button band and I was use to elastic. Elastic is easier to get down when you had to go potty and faster, if you put off things like I do. Anyway, I put on the pedal pusher, all went well most of the day. Drank my water through out the day and then it hit me. Off I went, not thinking, stuck my thumbs into the band (been doing this for years with the elastic)and down came the pants without having to undo the buttons. So even though these were puchased for when I would be smaller, I didn't account for the fact that even though I haven't lost any weight since my last fill, I have lost inches, so I haven't failed. So, just imagine and old lady running to the bathroom, trying her best to get her pants down, thumbs locked into the band, and those pants slide right over the hips. LOL P.S. I made it in time (almost didn't as almost stopped in my tracks when I realized this wasn't elastic) and discovered I wasn't a failure even though I haven't lost any weight this week. Hope you all are laughing because I did and I want you all have a great Memorial Day Weekend and be safe.

    Justgettinggoing

I'm also in my 60's + and have a lot of medical issues as you do. Just got banded on 3/17/10, actually thought I wouldn't get accepted because of age, but when I brought up about joining Weight Watchers again my cardiologist suggested I have Lap Band, less invasive then bypass, removable if necessary, and recovery not as long. He even said if I had to pay for it out of pocket I should consider it. Prior to my decision to lose weight, I was given about five more years (my body was sliding down the mountain and the brain was on the peak) couldn't let that happen. I have pulmonary hypertension excerise induced (which is a no win situation he said) and only breathe 94% room air, dystolic dysfunction (left side of heart enlarged and like shoe leather), hypertension, diabetes, etc. Now with 22 lb weight loss I feel about 45 years old. I was just 100 pounds overweight and doctors say I only need to lose 50-60 pounds to feel like a new woman. I wonder if I would feel like a teenager if I lost the whole 100 lbs:thumbup:, going to try but really just want to prolong life to maybe see and enjoy a great grandchild someday. The reason I actually decided on lap band is the fact, if necessary, it can be removed. Had to see the phychologist and once tested actually got approved immediately. Then I went through six months of supervised weight loss with my primary care physician (didn't lose any weight:thumbdown:) but the insurance company actually didn't care if I lost because as soon as it was completed I had the approval within a month. Think it is just a hoop they make you jump through to see how serious you are about this. Now if I had this to do all over, I would have done it years ago when I first start down that mountain. So this is my story on my journey to a new life So good luck on your journey, on whatever surgery you decide. You will definitely feel much better than you do now and life will be prolonged.
