    Tasteless Protein :)

It stopped the day before surgery. Of course nothing since then, as I'm just starting protein, but using the Cocotein drink that I got from GNC. Also just had two tablespoons of Cream of Wheat, wasn't hungry but doing what the instructions say. Think I might have to drink some Benifiber to get things moving, then we'll see if I go into dumping again. I wonder sometimes if it wasn't some of my medications. They took me off three of them when I left the hospital. Do fantastic otherwise. Little pain not nearly as bad as yesterday. Stapled areas are starting to itch. Main surgery sight tho does hurt, I have to change bandages sometime today. When I get my nerve up.
  2. Thank you, they couldn't believe how well I was doing. Never complained, used the call button twice, but they were checking on me every two hours. Thank goodness the pain med, which I used about every two hours, I would wake up just before the nurses would come in. I walked, they didn't even push me to get out of bed, it was when I was ready. Walked the hall twice and sit in a chair until I thought I would upchuck, first call button. Second time down the hall the next day, all was great. Doctor said everything was great and I went from him telling I'd be in the hospital two to three days to release in less than 24 hours after surgery. Not bad for an old chicken. Yesterday was pretty painful, but did some bending to pick things up, but I tolerated it. Will say I am taking my pain meds, which even after lapband I only used for two days. Good side of this revision was I didn't have very much scar tissue from the lapband. Someone above was on my side. Since I have CHF they had a little trouble controlling my blood pressure, but even ended up one DC'd, plus all my cholesterol medications, and metformin. I am taking 1/2 unit of insulin per hour (I have an insulin pump) and my blood sugars are within normal range. This is a shocker also because when the body is under stress like this you don't have to eat and the blood sugars sky rocket. So think this is going to accomplish what needs to be done and hopefully will live to be a hundred. Thank you all for the suppoprt.

Why does Medicare make you wait?

I am on Medicare but I had the option to go with other insurance to cover my hopitalization and part B & D, rather than going with straight CMS which is medicare. It was I either pay to Uncle Sam or sign up with a Medicare approved company, still costing the same. In my case I went with Hummana Gold Plus. I went from having my lapband out in May, started everything they required under Medicare and had bypass 10 weeks later. I didn't have to wait six months. I did though with the lapband have to wait six months with my employer's insurance Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island. Sorry you are having to go through all that.

    Tasteless Protein :)

I've used Unjury since 2010, all flavors, and the only one I can't stand is the cheese. Also just tried the Cocotein drink which I love, but now a little scared to try it because of the 5 gm of sugar.
  5. You all will be amazed after surgery. Been home for 24 hours, watching the food channel, looks good but not hungry, no craving, no head hunger and I've lost two pounds since weigh in on surgery day. Didn't gain a thing from all the liquid they hung. Good luck to all of you. Wishing you all a speedy recovery.

    Anti-inflammatory

Yep, home doing well, of course sore as heck, and hurt. Yes there is pain, which I can tolerate but only when I get up. Once I starting moving don't hardly notice it. Best thing is I've lost 2 lbs since Wednesday. Blood sugars been running very normal with a very, very low dose of insulin. This is the best decision I've made, and wish I would have gone this route three years ago.

    Surgery was yesterday! Liquids question

That is what I'm doing even if I wake up I take a sip. If I sip to much I know it for a few minutes but it goes away. I'm to try a sf popsicle shortly, had sf jello this morning which actually made the crystal lite no flavor. But I do dilute the crystal lite into 24 ozs of liquid.

    What ya eating tonight?

Just trying to get my liquids down. So right now it is Rasberry Ice by Crystal Lite???? Yum, yum Isn't bothering me near as much as when I was on it for the pre-op. Even head hunger is gone for now. Thank goodness.

    Anti-inflammatory

Yes that is what the nurse called it yesterday Ofirmev, think It actually worked better than the pain med. Comes in a bottle and takes about ten minutes to run through. It got me home, and I didn't take any pain med until 9:30 PM about six hours later. Pain med gives me some relieve, but puts me out for almost six hours. Which is when the next dose it do.

    pain in left upper abdomen

My left side hurts the most right now, but my drain was and so is your stomach. It is going to be tender I bet for quite awhile.

    Anti-inflammatory

You too, I had Dilodid which really didn't do anything but put me to sleep but once they hung that bottle the pain where my tube was dissappeared. The name of it isn't tynelol but made by tynelo but they always referred to it as tylenol. Nurse also said it is antiinflamatory med. Don't think it is available over the pharmacy counter. But while they were givening it to me it was great stuff Maynard...

    I made it

Looking at the list they just sent me home with today, surgery yesterday. For me weeks 2 and 3 are Cottage cheese, low fat or non-fat, soft cheeses (laughing cow) eggs, any style but I differently wouldn't recommend hard boiled, thinly sliced or canned chicken, turkey, tuna with light mayo or miracle whip, baked fish, refried beans soft cooked vegetales, applesause unsweetened. Continue to drink protein shakes between meals. Also says to avoid beef, pork, pasta and rice.. But you can always check with your Nut or doctor. Because from what I keep seeing everyone seems different. But hope this does give you some idea.

    Anti-inflammatory

They put me on omperazole 20mg caps twice daily. Also they gave me anti inflamatory in the hospital but it was a liquid tylenol. Worked good with my other pain med, didn't even hurt. Think though this is only for hodpital use as it was through IV.

i did it! surgery is over!

Same here I'm at home in my recliner, getting ready to take a dose of pain meds, but actually not in much pain (I have a high tolerance to pain), but it does hurt to get out of the chair. Found being in a recliner doesn't hurt as much as getting out of a bed. Nor do I have near the gas pain. And your journey has begun to a new you. Congrats.

    Surgery was yesterday! Liquids question

I just got home a couple of hours ago, and you are to sip, sip, sip drinking it slowly. How are you feeling otherwise? I getting ready to take some pain medication, had my last does about 10 AM. Actually if I sit don't have much pain, is when I get up from the recliner, but once I start walking I'm okay. I've had two cups of chicken broth, ice chips, and three sf popsicles, and just made 24 oz of crystal light. Supposedly they want you to drink 8 oz about a hour.

    Tomorrows the big day!

I'll add you to my prayer list, have several others for tomorrow also, just before they wheel me into the operating room. Your journey will be awesome, which sounds strange coming from someone having the same surgery, but I had the lapband 3 1/2 years ago and it felt so good to see those scales move. Good luck and prayers your way.

    6 month diet paperwork

All I ever had to do both with the lapband (6 months) and now for RNY (3 months) was see my doctor monthly for weight management, that what he would write in the chart, plus weight loss or gain and when I completed the requirements they were faxed over to the surgeons office

    Cocotien

Sorry it doesn't contain aspertaine (sp) but sucralose.
  22. oldoneyoungagain

    Cocotien

Yes, soccermomma73 I bought three bottles and got one free yesterday at my local GNC store. Actually it is cocotein. 16 oz of fluid, 20 gms protein, 100 calories. Coconut water with aspertame (sp), it was a little sweet to start, but the flavor is great if you like Coconut. Like it well enought from just 1 bottle I went out to GNC and ordered a case. Now crossing my fingers that my taste buds don't totally turn off to anything sweet. And no I didn't taste the isopure. Didn't even realize it was there, like my unflavored Unjury. Which I can also tolerate, but this was much better. Also see if you can find a post for M.A. Cruz he posted a web site and that is how I found it. Think it is under unflavored protein.
  23. Okay, I'll be sending good thoughts your way, as they wheel me into the operating room, I'll probably be pretty goffey around noon. Keep posting, keep us informed.
  24. Okay, best wishes, good luck. Keep posting and lets us know how you are doing on that journey to a new you. Will watch for them. I love this sight as it is so supportive. It will be 8:30 my time so will keep you in my thoughts, because I'll still be wide awake dreading the placement of the IV(s). Of all things to dislike is that, some are good at it others suck.

    If One More Person!

PS. Medicare is my primary and yes they are covering mine, and they will cover lapband. But will not cover the sleeve. RNY was just approved through the first if this year.
