I have not struggled with my eating until the last week and a half. I called this last Monday to schedule my second fill because I can eat anything and pretty as much of anything at the moment. I could not get in for 2 1/2 weeks so I am just going to do everything in my power to not gain anything. I am just really panicking more than anything because I fell out of control and like I will wake up one of these mornings and be 50lbs heavier again. I know that once I get my fill I will be okay, but any words of encouragement from anyone who has gotten to this point would be great.

A thread for Single Bandsters
RisaAnn1976 replied to NewBeginnings2018's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Denise- I used Match.com, I am thinking of trying eharmoney if I don't have any luck with Match. Around here most people seem to pay. I think that it is hard to meet people, every guy I have meet in person lately that I have liked has been way to young, and I feel more like an older sister to them. I have never had luck with Match.com before, but am hoping it turns around. Good luck in your search, I know that on eharmony more people pay for the service and I think that the pickings are better....but I am starting out cheap and trying Match for 3 months. Good Luck! A thread for Single Bandsters
RisaAnn1976 replied to NewBeginnings2018's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Okay I have been seperated/divorced for almost a year now, and I have my first date this Saturday night.....okay I have not been on a real date in like 5 years. We are meeting for coffee and than he is taking me to dinner after that. This is going to sound so stupid, but since I don't drink alcohol now and I am now in my 30's if their is an attraction is it okay to kiss someone on the first date....for some reason I watching Sex in the City for so many years I am so confused as to what to do anymore. I am very confident and comfortable with myself and even more so now that I am down almost 50lbs.....I guess what are the dating rules, I have been out of the game so long, and I feel I am even in a more grown up adult league now!! Any advice would be so great. Thank you so much!!!! -
Okay I have write this because I am tired of my mother bugging me!!! How many people go to the post-op support groups put on by your surgeon/hospital? I have not gone yet.....I really have no desire to go right now. I feel that I am doing great, I have had not major issues come up and I love coming onto this web-site for my support, my closest friends, coworkers and family all know and are great support. The support groups are clear across town, I would have to get off of work early and I am just not the kind of person to share anything in person in a large group of people. I feel great about my weight loss and how strict I have been with exercise and eating, and than my mom every two weeks has to bring up the question of if I have gone to a support group and than I feel guilty. I told her that right now I am happy with coming onto this website with my questions, so maybe that will keep her mouth shut for awhile!

I don't think I have posted here since my surgery! I had my first fill yesterday and I have to say it was an interesting expreience. My surgeon uses the Fluro at the surgery center I had my surgery done at. I had to go through admitting and getting my vitals in the presurgery area and than walked to a surgery room where the Dr. and two nursers where at to do the fill and than had to go to the post surgery area for my vitals again before I could leave - the whole process took about 1 1/2 hours (which seems to be a little long to me). I had 2 cc's put in and I can definately tell a huge difference. It is amazing how little I can eat again. For me I feel the amount of restriction I had after surgery. I am excited and getting the fill gave me renewed motivation!! So far, knock on wood no bad experiences (pbing, vomiting) and hoping not to. I hope all of you who are struggleing post surgery but pre fill with massive hunger can hang in there and do the best you can. Exercising and just will power got me through it. I am already down one to two sizes depending on the store.:clap2:

what is the price you pay here in the states for fills ?
RisaAnn1976 replied to CLAUDIAGDLMEX's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
With Fluro at the surgery center they are $150 (the first one is free), just at the Dr.'s office w/ no Fluro it is free for the first year. -
I had my first fill today, and I have to be on clear liquids for 24 hours and progress throught the stages just like after surgery, but only at a faster rate. I had 2 cc's and can definately tell a difference.

Some Questions about Sleep After Banding
RisaAnn1976 replied to Fenton's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first 3 nights I alternated between the couch and the recliner, and I am not one for sleeping on my back, I have to be on my stomach. I tried lying on my right side but felt alot of pulling, I was however able to prop myself up a little with alot of pillows to give support to keep from feeling the pulling when I slept on the couch and could sleep at a slight tilt to the right. It was easier for me to get off of the couch than out of my bed, I could hold onto things so I did not have to use my stomach muscles to do the work. The first night I tried to lie in bed just to see, and let me just say if it had not hurt so much I am sure it was funny as heck as I needed my mom to come in and help me out of bed. By night four I was sleeping in my bed on my side and even woke up and I was on my stomache. Good Luck and just remember the first few days all of it is just temporary and than you will back to your normal ways of sleep!! -
congrats on being newly banded. I found that the best things that have helped my gas are the gas-x strips that disolve in your mouth and lots and lots of walking. Good luck and it will get better!

Post Op: Day 3
RisaAnn1976 replied to MyLifeNewChoice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on Tuesday (2/13) and last night I was able to sleep in my own bed (finally) and not the couch or recliner, and am able to get in and out of bed and in and out of the car with very minimal discomfort. I finally am feeling normal today, went shopping for about an hour and did and about 20 minutes of light walking. I also noticed I was able to drink alot more fluids as well. Just hang in their it will get better! -
Thank you and good luck tomorrow Zannie!

I was banded yesterday and all went really well. I had surgery at 7:30AM was up walking around by 10:30AM. I was supposed to stay until 5:00PM put they let me go at 3:30PM because I was doing so well. I really had and have had very little gas pains. I had my gallbladder out seven years ago and had more gas pain from that. My only real pain is where the port is at. They tried giving me morfin when I got out of surgery, but apparently It made me very nauses. Over all I had a great experience, we had alot of snow yesterday I was a little afraid they would be closed and call of surgery, but in the afternoon I had the whole surgery center to myself. I go in to see the surgeon at noon today for a follow-up. I have six incinsion they said they normally only do 4-5 but aparently one of the nurses before surgery gave me a shot for blood clots and she was not supposed to so I bleed alot. Also - this is weird but they gave me a picture of my stomache with the band taken during surgery. I am not hungery at all but am forcing myself to drink my liquids and am working on my first shake. Good luck to all the up coming bandsters hopefully you have great experiences too!:clap2:

Starting preop diet soon.... any suggestions?
RisaAnn1976 replied to Minnesotalady's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started my pre-op diet one week ago, I am lucky mine is two weeks of Slim fast or proetien shake for breakfast and lunch and a healthy dinner. I am considering myself lucky since I at least get one meal a day! But between the diet and my normal 30 minutes of exercise I am down 8 lbs already. It seemed to me that the second day was the worse, but after that if I keep myself busy it is not that bad. The only thing is that I feel left out now when everyone is going out for lunch...but I guess I would rather lose weight and be healthy -
I called my surgons nurse today to get a surgery date and February 13th is it. So I get to start my pre-op diet tomorrow....not much warning though, I guess the less I think about it maybe the easier it will be.

I live in Lincoln Nebraska, three month's ago I went through trying to decide what to do for exercise and was considering curves. I ended up going with the YMCA. Our YMCA's have added rooms called "Quick Fit Rooms" which are exactly like Curves. So you have access to everything you can get at a 24 hour fitness and you can also go in and do a Curves workout if you feel like it. I like to do 15 minutes on the eliptical, 15 minutes on the treadmill and 30 in the Quickfit romm. The sad thing is that it was cheeper to go with the YMCA!

This is my first time posting here. I had my first appointment with my surgeon (Dr. Benjamin Hung) in November 0f 2006, I was told that my insurance would not cover the lap band surgery, so I told myself to take a month and think about if I really truely wanted to do this. A month later I called the surgeons nurse and said let's proceed, I am ready to invest $14,000 in myself, my future and my health. I have already had my Psych eval, and meet with the dietician and passed both with flying colors, I went to a pre-op support group, and I have my final appointment with the pulmonologist (sp?) this Tuesday and if I have her okay I will get a surgery date (which I have been told will be sometime in February)! I am so excited and can't wait to proceed. A little about myself, I am 30, I am recently divorced, and amazingly life has never been better, after my divorce I made a promise to myself that I want to be healthy in all aspects of my life. My marriage was damiging to me in all areas of my life and I will never go back to living life like that. My two dogs Summer (Labordoodle) and Sox (Schnazer, German Shepard mix) are the loves of my life right now. I have a BMI of 44, and have type two diabetes. I have lurked around the posts here for about a month and have learned so much information, it is so wonderful to have such a resource from real people who are experiencing the same things.
