I've developled a wicked cough--Help!!!
threebeauties replied to Doriana's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I too got a nasty cough two weeks after surgery. I drank tea ALL DAY LONG and it seemed to help. I was so worried about the band. I had my first fill yesterday (6 weeks) and all was fine. Good luck, feel better soon! -
Wonderwoman Had my first fill yesterday. My dr. gave me an injection of novicane before the fill so it feels like the needle when you give blood or get a shot. Once that is done, I didn't feel a thing. No pain at all after either. I could also eat a regular meal no problem. I gained 4 lbs. I haven't had a real meal since my fill yesterday so my fingers are crossed! I do notice that I have been slacking with my water, maybe that will help too. Good luck to all and have a great weekend!

Hi All I had my first fill today, 1cc. My dr. told me to stick to soft food tonight and tomorrow for breakfast. After that, if all goes well, back to regular food. I really needed a "boost". I really miss not seeing those big numbers that I saw the month after surgery. I only lost 4 lbs. this month! I know I shouldn't complain, I am down 28 lbs in 6 weeks!. This is where it gets hard for me. This is just about the most weight I've ever lost. The 6 week mark has been my "breaking point" in the past. I lose a good amount of weight then BAM, back to the old eating habits and back up the scale I go. I sure hope this fill makes a difference. so, far, I don't feel anything different. We'll see after a meal though. So glad you guys are hear to listen to me whine;)

Dr. Oz's New Book Seen on Oprah
threebeauties replied to Terrilen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Iluvmyboys - I wish I was much taller;) I agree, I love when he is on Oprah. I have his book "You the Owners Manual". Its a bit silly but I do think I'll get the diet book. -
I am off for my first fill in a few. My dr. does 1 cc to start I really need it!

Today Is My Anniversary (X Post)
threebeauties replied to Carlene's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Carlene Congrats on your amazing success. I don't think I was a size 4 even when I was 4:D I am also glad that you talked about the ups and downs, that's what life is all about and I know the band will be no different. Jack - I LOVE reading your posts. BTW - I have adopted O Holy Shredded Wheat as my Breakfast of choice (with one egg) because of you. -
First off, congrats on your awesome success. I wonder if you lost another 10 lbs and didn't tell him, would he really think you were too skinny????? Just a thought, go ahead and do what makes YOU happy and see if that 10 lbs makes much of a difference to him. Good luck

I just loved your post Mousecrazy. thank you for posting encouraging and kind words. I don't know about you guys but it seems like I have been reading a lot more negative, often rude and inconsiderate posts lately? (NOT this thread) I do hope the trend doesn't continue. I come here for good, HONEST advice. I love to hear other peoples experiences, struggles and stories. Although we are all "strangers" it seems we have a bond that would be hard to find anyplace else. Keep up the good work. Please let us all know how the fills went this week and how you are all doing!

Great response ReneBean!!!!!!!!!!!! I too can eat anything and everything. Right now I am relying on willpower and that is not going to last much longer. Thank goodness I get my first fill on Thurs.
-
Denise I am anxious to hear how the fill affected you. We were banded on the same day and my starting weight was 239, close to yours. I don't feel any restriction at all. The first month was great, down 30 lbs but in the last almost two weeks, I have gained 4 lbs!!!! I can eat anything from steak to pizza. Of course, I am watching it and doing my best but I am certainly ready for an adjustment. My dr. will start me out at a 1cc fill. I would love to hear a bit about your journey so far. Thanks

Hey Deise We were banded on the same day and I go for my first fill on Thurs. For all of you who aren't losing, don't feel bad. I am up bleep pounds since last week????? Sure hope this fill thing works My dr. told me he always starts with 1cc then goes up slowly from there. I orig had my appt for next week but he said he would fit me in this week because I am so concerned. I have absolutely no restriction whatsoever. I can eat beef, bread, pizza, you name it. I don't feel any different than I did before I got the band:help: Good luck to you all. I will chat again after my first fill! (I haven't updated my ticker, I am up 3 lbs)

Just a thought for all of us who ate too much at Thanksgiving. You know what is different this year? This year, we may have overindulged on the holiday but I bet we didn't eat too much the day after or the day after that! Keep up the good work! We will do it one day at a time!

Hi Credo Welcome. Check out the thread for October Bandsters. We were all banded in Oct!!! It really helps because we are going through or have just gone through many of the same things. Good luck on your journey

My doc says NO way to soda. He said it can cause band erosion! I do miss it!

I wasn't given a choice. My stay was overnight and I was very grateful for it!

JimBoss that's a tough one. I DON'T think you are whining. This is not an easy journey and we need all the help we can get. It seems like my hubby has been eating MORE junk food since I've been banded???? I am lucky though, he is very supportive. We still have so much candy in the house from Halloween. I HAVE to have it in the basement fridge, I can't have it in sight. Every night he goes down, gets the bag, eats his fill and brings it back down! I know it isn't easy but please don't let your wife sabotage your weight loss efforts. Be a good hubby and eventually, she will realize that your lives will be better with you healthier and maybe she will jump on board too. Stay strong and show her that you are doing this whether or not you have her support! Best of luck to you!!

I am from MA and BCBS approved me, no problem. My bmi was 39 and I have sleep apnea. Mr. dr. also told me BCBS is one of the best he deals with regarding lap band. Good luck

I was just sitting here transferring info from 2006 calander to 2007 new one. I started thinking, do you all realize how different we could all be in 2007?? I am so excited and so looking forward to 2007. This may be the first time in my life that I can follow through with my resolution to finally lose this weight and get on with my life. I am excited and looking forward to so many new things in 2007. My New Years resolution is to work with the band and continue to make good choices MOST of the time so that this will be my LAST YEAR EVER that "lose weight" will be a resolution for me. What about you guys? I know its early to think about it but 2007 is right around the corner!

Boy I wish I had your problem;) I saw a show, forget which one, where they had a fashion person talking about this very thing. Her suggestion as to buy lighter shirts on the snug side of where you are currrently then buy something very fashionable to wear over it. She suggested those long button sweaters, almost like a coat. She said that way it covers that your shirt is a big snug yet the sweater can last through a couple of sizes. As for pants, good luck, I guess I would say buy elastic waist on the snug side too. Good luck, we should all be so lucky to have this problem.!!!! Good for you:clap2: btw- I agree with above - when your clothes are too big it makes you look bigger. show off that new body!!!

sign me up for the challenge! I just love the group support and encouragement. :clap2:

12 Yr old Girl has Liposuction to LOOSE WEIGHT !
threebeauties replied to coltonwade's topic in Rants & Raves
Even more appalling than the dr. is to me is the parents. I have three little girls and NONE of them have ever been on a diet. I obviously have issues with eatitng and food (otherwise I wouldn't be here). I don't want my girls to go through the same struggles I have gone through. I do my best every day to teach them about healthy choices, moving their bodies, and challenging their minds. Now, don't get me wrong, I am not a perfect parent, I don't know any of those. However, I think a parent that puts a 3 year old on a "diet" is sadly misguided. I can't imagine what that girls self esteem is like. I would bet that her self image and self esteem are so tied up in her body and "how pretty she is" that she will never truly be happy. Shame on those parents. -
What would you change in your banding journey?
threebeauties replied to Fauxnaif's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey Sunshine Our "stats" are the same, very interesting. I too, chose to keep this a secret. Of course, you can't keep it from DH but I did not tell him until after I met with the surgeon and the psychiatrist/therapist. I wanted to be sure I was sure before I talked to him about it. I had my surgery close to a month ago and today am down 29 lbs, no fills yet. I totally think I made the right decision to both have the band and to keep it to myself. I have a close, supportive family including 4 siblings but I still feel most comfortable keeping it hush hush. Good luck! Keep us posted on your journey -
I got the job at Curves!!!!
threebeauties replied to housecatgirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congratulations! It's probably a good place to work after losing weight. I'm sure it will help with motivation. I've never been to Curves, I hear mixed reviews. -
What would you change in your banding journey?
threebeauties replied to Fauxnaif's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Carol My deepest sympathy for the loss of your mother. I too, lost my mother and know it leaves a void that can never be filled. I don't mean to preach, really, but...........I KNOW my mother would be proud of me for taking this often difficult and stressful journey. My mother struggled with her weight all of her life and always made me promise I would not repeat her mistakes. I kept my promise until she passed away 8 years ago. Now, I am taking control over my health again. Good luck on your journey. Again, I am so sorry for your loss.
