Ditto - go elsewhere, find a dr. who supports your decision to try to beat the odds. Both of my parents died young, both had hbp and diabetes and obesity. My dad had two strokes and my mother had other issues. Needless to say, the genes were not my friends. I am doing what I need to do to not repeat the cycle and to try to prevent my children from this battle as well. Good luck!

Good luck Jodi. Take care of yourself and TRY not to be too concerned about the weight loss right now. ( I know, easier said than done, this advice from someone who hops on the scale EVERY flippin day) BTW - I am eating great, under 1000 cal, not on the treadmill as much as I should and have only lost 5 lbs since Nov 1st!!!! It is so frustrating I want to cry.:help:

flabuless - I couldn't agree more. Although pasta is a "trigger" food for me so I stay away from it. Otherwise, I eat what I like and what I want. I eat much less of it. For me, moderation is the key.

Look into Dr. Sanchez, I think there is a thread here talking about him being murdered this week.

I had the same problem. If you don't have to, don't leave the house. I'm not so sure I would take anything for it but if you have to go out, you have to go out. Don't worry, it will go away soon! liquid in, liquid out:help:

Jodi Thanks for the reply and GOOD LUCK. I truly hope all is well so that you can get back on track. It must be so frustrating to be so mentally ready for this journey and then to hit a bump in the road physically. Hopefully, it is just a bump and you'll be back to action soon!

How much can you eat.....
threebeauties replied to cher3150's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Around 3-4:00 I usually have a cheese stick ( I like the indiv cheddar) and around 15-20 almonds. this combo really does the trick and keeps me satisfied til dinner. I also think having this snack not only keeps me from overeating at dinner but also since I started having this snack I have not even wanted to eat at night which is a HUGE victory for me. I also like the iced lemon bars from USANA. They are only 100 calories, high in fiber, Protein and low glycemic (sp?) I kind of think the whole cup, 1/2 cup thing is funny. Are we talking a cup of oatmeal or a cup of macaroni and cheese, know what I'm saying? -

I started a thread similar to yours about a month ago. I got several responses and the bottom line, people say is that you have to lose a lot more weight to change sizes when you are in plus size clothes. For many people it was taking 40 or more lbs to go down a size. Once you hit the size 16's and below around 10-15 lost brings you down another size. I am always hearing about people saying "I lost 25 lbs and went down three sizes" I was getting very frustrated because I have lost 30 and in the same size. The difference is, I started at size 22 and they started at 16. Hope this helps, good luck, you are doing fantastic:clap2:

My ins company never asked for anything regarding a supervised diet or any other documentation proving I tried other weight loss methods in the past. To be on the safe side, call your ins co. and ask them to send you the requirements. Better to be prepared. Good luck

non-supportive boyfriend
threebeauties replied to drmom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I hate to say this but....it sounds like some part of him WANTS you to cheat and fail?????? I'll throw in another two cents... that isn't what love acts like and for you, that isn't what love feels like. Good luck -
I completely agree with Jules. I got banded because I couldn't "diet" for the rest of my life. I am 6 weeks out and doing well. I have had one fill but don't have good restriction. I have eaten out several times (twice this weekend alone) and I try to make the best choices. I have small children and I am completely satisfied eating a few of their fries, it doesn't make me want more. I had a spoonful of my daughters ice cream last nite, it was enough for me to taste and be happy with my decision not to have one. I sometimes spit meals with my 7 year old. Other times I just bring home more than I've eaten. I do stay away from my "triggers", Pasta and bread. Eatingh those would make me want more.

Jodi So glad to see you are doing well. You mentioned you had good restriction. Can you tell me what that feels like to you. What is your diet like these days. I had my first fill on Thurs and I really don't feel any different. I went out for pizza last night and stopped myself and 2 pieces but easily could have had another one. It seems I can eat pretty normal size portions but try not to. The only real difference I notice is that I am satisfied between meals for longer. Any insight would be great!!! You guys are all doing great, so inspiring!

I know several people have already responded to the "quicker is not better" aspect of your concern. I will say I completely agree with what they have said and add that with time comes the opportunity to change bad habits and to deal with why some of us overeat. Bad habits take time to change! Also, you mentioned concern over your new lifestyle. That was my BIGGEST concern going into this. I wanted to eat like a normal person. I can say happily that I do!! Only DH and two friends even know I had the surgery. I have gone out to eat several times with people who don't know I'm banded and they still don't know. I simply tell them I am trying to eat better!! Good luck

why do you say no fiber? I was banded on Oct 19th. Most days I have one big shredded wheat biscuit and an egg for Breakfast. No problems here. Now, I only put enough milk in the bowl so the shredded wheat absorbs it all and is very soft. Good luck, give it a try

Hi Andrea It seems that lateley there has been some very negative comments being made on certain threads. I for one am very glad that this site is moderated. I know that for me, this site is all about support and honesty. I come here for motivation and to hear other peoples experiences, not to witness a "pissing contest". Good job moderators!

Family thinks my surgery will "ruin" Christmas
threebeauties replied to mypov's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
PLEASE don't let your family make you feel bad about your decision. I have three small children and I took care of them completely on my own 5 days after being banded. My incision sites were a bit sore but other than that, I was fine. Only my hubby even knew I had surgery. I also went to a 50th bday party at a family style resteraunt 10 days after surgery. You should be fine. Go ahead with your decision to change the rest of your life for the better. Good luck and have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!! This could very well be the best gift you will ever give to yourself and to your family!! -
I had my first fill yesterday and the dr. seemed like he was really poking around. I was getting concerned and asked him everyting was all right. He said all was fine, my port doesn't lay completely flat, some peoples don't. I had a fill , no problem. Sorry, I don't have answers to any of your questions. Good luck with your journey!

Hey Jessica I truly hope you are feeling better since this afternoon. We all overindulge from time to time. Just the fact that you got on LBT and asked for some support shows that you are being aware and thoughtful of your actions. As far as wondering if the band will work for you. I wonder the same thing. I had my first fill yesterday and feel nothing! I went out to eat tonight and I honestly could have eaten like I did before banding! I have on this site almost daily since about a week before banding and I have to remember that I read ALL THE TIME that this takes time. Soooo many people out there are saying that they didn't lose much until maybe their 3rd or 4th fill!!!!! Stick with it, make the right choices MOST of the time and don't let the slip ups turn into fall downs:girl_hug:

Wheetsin I agree, if I don't know someone is trying to lose weight I will say "you look fantastic" Its such a half-ass compliment to be told "you look like you've lost a TON of weight"----Thanks a lot. Most do mean well though, last night DH called me skinny. I am 5'5" and over 200 lbs. I am NOT SKINNY but I knew he meant well. Gotta love em!
-
I agree with you 100%. You have talked about all the reasons I chose to keep this to myself. I too will share when I am successful. Keep up the good work!
-
I would guess that 90% of the time when a person doesn't compliment another on their incredible success, whatever their success may be, its most likely jealousy! You guys have done sooooo great. Everyone who matters knows it, whether they mention it or not;) On the other hand, I have to say that about a year ago I had a friend who lost about 25 lbs. She didn't have a lot to lose and went from a size 16 to an 8 (so she says, I have my doubts, not the point though). She CONSTANTLY talked about how great she looked, how her clothes were falling off of her, how sex was so great. She didn't stop there, she would bring me what she called her "fat clothes" since they were "like tents on her" and thought I might like to have them..........AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH Don't get me wrong, I complimented her often and meant it. She looked great and I told her so. I just didn't want to listen to it 24/7, ya know? Keep up the great work!!!! you are all my inspiration!
