Wow, Kennedy, welcome to the 10/19 "bandwagon". I am on the 19th too and started my pre-op diet yesterday. I wish I could sugar coat it but.......it sucks not being able to eat. The thing that keeps me going is knowing what the results will be when I stick to the rules and guidelines. My sweet hubby said he was so proud of me last night when I said "I'm hungry, goodnight" and went to bed. I told him I had no choice, I couldn't eat and he said "you ALWAYS have choices". He is right. We all made this decision and it wasn't easy for most of us, I'm sure. Its a big deal. It is so great to read all of your stories and experiences and insights. It is truly helping me as I get closer to my date. You are all doing so great and I wish happiness and success for each and every one of you. This site is the only place (besides hubby) where I can really relate and share since I am choosing to share this journey with only a few. Thank you Threebeautiese

an A..HOLE indeed! Maybe her weight loss boosted her self esteem and she wasn't going to put up with his s*&t anymore! I digress I am a pretty private person by nature anyway. Maybe I am a little ashamed that I couldn't lose weight the old fashioned way. I take that back, I've lost plenty of weight but it keeps finding me:) I am sooo looking forward to my weight being on the back burner rather than the first thing I think about every time I get an invitation to an occassion or every time I walk in a room and look around to see if I am the fattest person there. I dread when my little girls want to make play dates, I always assume the childs mom is going to be pretty and thin. I applaud you all for taking this step. It is because of you guys that I can talk openly about this. Thank you. Threebeauties

HI All I am just wondering how you all feel about talking openly about the band to family and friends. I am scheduled to be banded on 10/19. I have chosen to tell only three people that I am doing this, hubby and two friends. I am keeping this hush for a couple of reasons. First, I feel like if I tell people I am having surgery they will expect me to lose 100 lbs in 6 months! This is so different than gastric bypass but most aren't familiar with "the band". Also, I don't want to hear the crap about not doing it the right way or talking behind my back about how I have no control or commitment. I don't want people to say "Oh, here she goes again, another diet, let's see how long this one lasts" I think when (notice I said WHEN) I am successful I may chose to tell people but, for now, I want to take this journey with the people who understand.........YOU GUYS!!! I am still trying to decide what to tell me 3 very young daughters (4,5 and 7 yrs old). If they know the truth, they will tell every soccer mom they know:help: I have to tell them something since I will spend the night in the hospital and be "out of commission" for a few. I am interested in all of your thoughts on the matter.

Hi Denise2 I am being banded in MA so we won't share a room. We are both having our surgery on the same data and we both are starting at the same weight! Weird huh. I hope we can keep in touch and support each other through this journey. I start my pre-op in 5 days, yikes!!!!!!! Threebeauties

I am being banded on the 19th. My dr. told me to start liquids 10 days prior to surgery so I'm not there yet. I would love to know what kind of Protein shakes you all have tried and like. I know you can buy rum, banana and cocnut extract. Maybe you could try a little pina colada shake? Good luck, let me know. btw - I think 35 lbs between now and Jan 1 sounds doable, I'm in! Hi Please bear with me, I have NEVER joined any type of online group or discussion board before. This is so important to me, I need all the support and encouragement I can get! I am scheduled to be banded on Oct 19th. I am excited, nervous and anxious all at the same time. I am soooo afraid of not being successful with this. Good luck to you all and I look forward to going through this journey with you.
