Bowel prep???? I'm afraid to ask. I was banded on the 19th and didn't do that. Best of luck. The first few days are kind of tough but I am 11 days out and feel really good and optimistic. Take care of yourself, try not to rush the process along (much easier said than done for me). Hey, a lot of you Oct Bandsters haven't checked in in a while. I still need your support and encouragement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi All I logged on and just read the last couple of pages of posts, here's whats going on with me. today I am one week out!!!!!!!!!! I feel much less hungry than I did the first couple of days. I feel very full after a Protein shake or a big cup of Soup. I have started experimenting with smooth Soups, some are very good. Last night I did tomato soup with some grated mexican cheese (not too much) and it was delicious. Also, the boxed soupls "Select" are great, I tried the creamy butternut squash and loved it, NO LUMPS. I am feeling very optimistic these last couple of days. I started a thread asking about "normal" diets from our "experienced bandsters". I have to say I started the thread because I was getting nervous that I would never enjoy food again. Anyway, the response was great, people are eating out, eating normal foods, better choices and losing weight, EXACTLY what I want. God Bless you people who are on the treadmill and walking the neighborhood. My incision sights are sore but I will walk on the treadmill tonight for at least 10 min, its not much but its the promise I will make to myself. I can't wait to move on to mushie stage. My dr. does two weeks of liquid and I WILL stick to it. This is a lifetime decision and I think the choices I make immediately following surgery will affect how I handle the band in the months/years to come. Good luck to all Oct Bandsters, let's hang in there together!!! Moon goddess - I guess I'm feeling a little emotional too;)

I agree Moon-goddess, we are all in this boat together. Its great to share something with people that so few really know anything about. I am soooo full of questions. I started a thread asking for people who have been banded a while to let us know what a "normal" day of food is like for them. I am really curious what my meal life will be like once I settle into this band thing. So many unknowns at this time!!!

What does your "normal" diet consist of?
threebeauties replied to threebeauties's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
HI Thanks for the info. How do you feel with those foods, satisfied? Full? Do you eat out? sorry for all of the questions, I am getting anxious about what's ahead for me. I wonder, if you ate with someone who didn't know you were banded, do you think your meals "stick out"? I don't really know any other way to ask that, sorry. I have not told anyone about my band and don't plan to for some time. I wonder what it will be like when life gets "normal" again. BTW congrats on your weight loss, great job, very inspiring -
Hi I'm just checking in. Was banded 10/19 and feeling pretty good. My incisions are pretty sore though. I was not ready to see the staples in my stomach when I took off the bandages, yikes!!!! I have to say that I am really missing the experience of eating. The hunger I can deal with its enjoying meals with my family that I am really missing. Hubby has been home since surgery so he has been cooking but I am finding it hard to be around meals that I can't participate in. I know its for the best and before I know I will be tasting "regular' food again, soon enough. I guess I am mourning a loss! It kind of makes me sad to think I won't be eating chinese food in the living room while watching a movie anymore. Don't get me wrong, I KNOW that what I'll be gaining will be so much greater! Well, enough of my pity party, take care all. I am so sure that this is the right decision for me and I am certain it is for all of you as well.

Hi all I was also banded on the 19th. Definately have soreness at the incisions but other than that, no pain. I didn't get any of the gas pain I've heard so much about, thank goodness! PLEASE don't eat yet, this is the time for healing, not experimenting. I know it is difficult. We have chosen to completely change the way we eat and I don't care what anyone says ITS A BIG DEAL. Someone mentioned that their head hasn't caught up with the evens, I couldn't agree more. My stomach is grumbling but I don't really want to eat, very strange sensation. I know my appetitte will be back with a vengence soon. My dr. won't do a fill for 6-8 weeks post op. That seems a long time to wait but I do want to be completely healed. I also know this is a tool I need to learn to work with. Good luck to all who have just gone and best of luck to those who are going this week

Hi everyone I was banded yesteday at 9:30, got home today around 10.00. All went very smooth. Definately soreness where the incisions are but otherwise doing great. I didn't even use the morphine drip they gave me. Weirdest feeling, I just opened a protein shake and after a few sips felt very strange, I just realized. I;M FULL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for all the well wishes. I hope my band friends are all doing well and good luck to those going next. Good luck, take care

p.s. I just broke out the camera for my "before" pictures. Also want to measure. I think maybe measuring may keep me from being dissappointed when the scale doesn't cooperate:D

VERY funny you say that about breath. I noticed I could smell my own bad breath this past week during my pre-op liquid diet. How gross is that!!!:omg: I think it may be from coming off carbs. I remember reading something about that in the Atkins book from way back. Something about keyetones . Drinking lots is supposed to help. I know that doesn't help much right after surgery. thanks for the well wishes. I am headed to the hospital for 7 a.m tomorrow. a bit nervous. I will be in touch after. Take care and good luck to all who will go in the next couple of days. We're in this together

Hey boo boo kitty you know what, by next season you may not even look like the same person. The people with tix around you may be wondering who you sold your tix to. Keep up the good work! -

Hey Purtynailz - I'm doing the same thing you are this week. Today is cleaning the house and tomorow is a pedicure and eyebrow wax! I have gotten away from all that "girlie" stuff for too long. Between raising three small girls and being so heary, it just didn't seem worith it to put much effort into my appearance. BOY IS THAT GONNA CHANGE. I had a jewelry party a week ago and got all kinds of jewelry I would never had worn before. I want to take much more pride in my appearance than ever before. Before I was heavy, my makeup was always done, my hair was styled, I was accessorized!!!! Now I just wear what fits. I wear the same couple of sweats and shirts over and over again. I just don't want to spend the $$ dressing this body;) Does anyone else feel this way? Best of luck to all who just got banded and those of you who go this week............Yeah!! The wait is over, God Bless. My day is Thurs

I have to throw in my two cents. As part of my pre-op testing I was required to have a sleep study. I weigh 230 lbs and don't snore at all. Let me tell you I was SHOCKED when the tech told me I had SEVERE sleep apnea. I had no idea!!!! I have been on the mask for about 3 weeks now and really do feel a difference! I thought I was just tired before like everyone else...........who isn't tired!!!

DOH!!!!!! Thank you

Thanks Chrispygal for the ticker help! Yeah! It worked!

Need Help Re: Disclosure to Possibly Unsupportive People
threebeauties replied to jgandg's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi I was just poking around and came across this thread. It interested me because I am being banded next week and chose to only tell my husband and 2 friends. I am very close with my family (my parents are deceased) but feel that this is vey personal for me and I too, don't want to be judged. It is such a personal decision . Jo-Jo? I am so sorry to hear of your experience. It is very sad when family, esp a parent cannot be supportive. It must have been very difficult for you. You are doing the right thing. You are taking care of yourself and your family and that is what is important. Keep us the good work! I have had these nagging feelings because I am telling so many "white lies" and I am sure it will be much worse after I'm banded next week. It is still going to be a struggle to lose the weight and I think people who don't understand the band will not understand that. It is not a quick fix as so many see it as. Good luck to all, I'm done ranting:) -
Chrispypal. I would be interested in joining, thanks for the invite. I was unclear, sorry, must be the lack of FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:hungry: .......I am pre-op so I am wondering what others PRE-OP diet consists of.
-
I am wondering what some of your liquid diets consist of? I am on for 10 days. I can have 2 Atkins or Carb Solution shakes and up to 3 light yogurts per day. Of course, all the calorie free liquids I chose. I would love to hear what some others are "allowed". It seems to be all over the place, lots of differences??
-
Hi All I am starting my 5th day of the liquids, it still sucks but only 6 days to go!!! Glad to hear all are doing well. Isn't it strange to be happy and concerned and excited we all are for people we don't even know? I't really awesome! I said in my first post that this is the first forum I have ever even looked at. I am happy I found this one. Since joining I have been peeking at other sites and this one really is the most encouraging and supportive. Good luck to all how are being banded in the next couple of days, you will do great! Crispygal - I am close, Blackstone MA and being banded 10/19 at Norwood. I have relatives in Mansfield (I was there on Sun watching a Pop Warner game). I am on the hush hush though. Only 3 people know my "big secret"

Congrats to all of the people newly " on the bandwagon". It is so great that you all check in and update us on your progress and experiences. Very valuable info for all of us who will be "with the band" soon. Ok, enough puns:) Does anyone have a track of what state all of us Oct bandsters are from. I think it would be fun to maybe have a little local reunion some time down the road with the people who have gone through the same thing and live fairly close. Mabye a 1 yr reunion???? Also, Aza, good luck on the ride home. I too am not telling anyone except my hubby and one friend. I just don't want to have the discussion right now. It is hard to keep it to myself though. I have to tell a bunch of "white lies";)

Pistols hubby You sound like a great guy. My hubby is also a great guy, all he wants is to see me happy. Size is irrelevant. He has a tough road ahead of him too..........eating what I love makes me happy but losing weight would make me happier:) Please congratulate Pistol on a job well done and to keep up the good work. Those who have had the surgery before me are my inspiration. Thank you all for your kind words of encouragement and for telling the "truth" no matter how funny or embarrasing it may be:clap2:
