Hi WindyCityWids, I don't understand why he'd want to completely unfill your band. Is it for the flight?? Or concern over finding a Dr to care for you. I had my band done in London by The Hospital Group and I've had a few fills. Also, I do a healthy amount of long distance flying (3 times since banded, flights over 14 hours straight) and I've never "unfilled" to do it. Needless to say, I'm alot more cautious when I eat and drink during the flights. If you'd like to chat more, please get in touch. Cila

In all honestly, I was really REALLY slow on the uptake. I have a continuous fight with my scale; after I lost an initial 30lbs my weight still hovers at the 197lbs mark and I've been banded for 8 months now. Needless to say I was quite cheesed off; so I put the scale as far away as possible and kept the weight loss out of my mind. It took me a while to realize my clothes looked like I borrowed them from someone twice my size. And I have to keep buying clothes every 6-8 weeks. Despite dropping 3 sizes my scale still says I'm 196lbs. I do find it funny when I "forget" that I'm not the size I used to be and try on clothes. I went to try on a new coat about a month ago (because the other looks like I borrowed it) and I instinctively reached for a large WHILST in the middle of telling my (Slim and Trim) sister "the large looks like it's going to be too small" - ignoring the amused look she gave me, I put on the coat and went "What the HELL!!" needless to say the coat was waaay too big. So I bought a medium - now that is even starting to feel big - so I layer up . Oh! and my heels fit better, they're not as tight whilst my sneakers are too loose... thank goodness for winter, I can wear thicker socks.

Tight in the morning.
Skylla replied to Linda Fehlen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank goodness! I thought it was just me. I've recently noticed the tightening in the mornings and it really freaked me out. Normally I have a hearty cereal but recently went away for a weekend, went down stairs for the continental breakfast and was not amused when I could barely manage to get the scrambled eggs (minus toast) down and stay down. It was kind of disconcerting, as I was going to be out and about on tours all day and would rely on a good breakfast to get me through to my next "feeding". Normally I tend to have breakfast about 2 hours after I wake up. I thought it was interesting that I'm now noticing this as I was banded back in April (2010). Skylla -
PB = progressive burping (http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/why-does-pb-happen-14053/) sliming (or slimming) {pronounced slime-ing} = when used in the not so nice term refers to when food gets stuck and your body produces thick clear mucus (hence the slime reference) to help either ease the passage of the blockage but tends to precede vomiting

Yeah, the whole "... I'll have a drink a bit later" thing is slightly annoying but I generally don't get pressed about it. For me, I'm a 'don't, don't tell' type of gal by default so my band (my buddy Herby) is my business. If down the line I get questioned about my scars I'll say I had a procedure done. If the conversation goes further, maybe I'll disclose more info (depending on the type of relationship) but I personally don't think it's anyone's business. However, if I end up in a situation where there's a potential for a serious relationship, then I'll mention 'Herby' if the topic comes up. Skylla

Ok ok show offs. I'm glad there's a new procedure out and you guys were able to take advantage however, the 5 incisions aren't actually the issue, it's the 2 incisions where the band and the port are that was uncomfortable. So you're actually in the same boat as the rest of us:p I don't understand the fear thing; are you afraid of the 2 incisions or the actual surgery itself? Congrats on the decision to get the band and I hope all works out well for you:)

I found this forum very helpful before I was banded and even now after banding. I've also recommended this site to the only friend who knows about my procedure. I hope she finds this site as useful as I have.

Halt on Weight Loss, Already????
Skylla replied to lmsampson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't feel bad. I was banded in April, lost 40lbs between then and now but my scale hasn't budged (despite the constant yelling and threats) however my clothes show the difference. So now I think it's quite amusing actually. I've dropped 2 sizes since my scale 'froze'; so now I just glare at it. I know, I know, it's not the scales' fault. So hang in there:) Skylla
