Hello everyone, I am having severe acid reflux and I have no fills in with my band at this moment. I got banded in August of 2006, I was doing fine then around December I got my first fill and starting having reflux. (Never had reflux before surgery) I got the fill removed in February cause I could not deal with the pain. I was put on Nexium and have been taking it since then, I felt a little better around three weeks ago and now it has been one week that I am back with the pain again, has this happen to anyone else. My DR checked my band and gave me an upper GI and he said the band was fine and that I had severe reflux that came up to my throat. He said that if I don't get better soon, I will have to take out the band and I have done very well. I have lost 55lbs and need 35lbs to go and I am looking for any suggestions. I take a Nexium in the morning and a pepcid at nite before going to bed. Anxiously waiting for some suggestions. :guess

I am not self pay but I just got my bill that my insurance paid and it cost 19,000.00 for just one day in hospital with the surgery. Good luck. I got banded 2 months ago and I am down 30 so it does work, it is just a different lifestyle. -
Well it is now 2 months and I am down 30 lbs., I am starting to do exercise and weights and I am at a standstill for the past week, hopefully I will start moving again. I hope I am not overeating cuz I want to continue with my new life, I am so excited of what I have done and I don't want to give up.

Hey Kimmi, I live in the Springfield, Mass area and had my lapband surgery on 8/17/06 at Bay State Medical, by Dr. Haag. I am an insulin dependent diabetic and take meds for hypertension, I choose to do the lapband because I don't need to lose over 100 lbs and I felt more comfortable with the less invasive surgery. I am now 30lbs less and I am taking less insulin, I was on two shots a day and I am down to one (only if needed do I take two shots), but the majority of the time I only take one and I feel so good. I am gonna see my doctor and ask if I can try getting on oral meds, and if all goes well I can get off of everything. My doctor told me that I should go for what ever surgery I felt comfortable with. I wish you all the luck with your decision. If you need a friend, let me know. -
Larry I had the band surgery, 7 weeks ago and I have lost 30 lbs+, I tried all sorts of diets and pills and nothing worked. Take one day at a time and just give yourself small goals. Everything will fall in place, consider the band or the gastric bypass, whichever one you feel more comfortable with. It's your choice. Good luck in whatever you decide and remember we are all here to help you along the way. Take care.

Hello everyone, I had the lapband done on 8/17/06 by Dr. Haag at Bay State Medical. I am going this morning to get my first fill and I am very nervous as I have been reading up on the different side affects that can occur. I was losing weight up until about 2 weeks ago, and now I am on a standstill, hoping that when I get this fill, I will start on my journey again:). Has anyone experienced this before? Is this normal? :help:I will keep you all posted. I enjoyed reading all the forums that are available, they are very helpful and informative. Thanks....

Well I got my first fill today 10/4/2006 and I had a little trouble drinking the water they gave me because he filled it too much, but then he took some saline out and I felt much better. I have been able to eat and keep it down, even though I feel a little weird in my chest area. I am gonna give it a couple of days to see if this is just the side effects of the fill. It wasn't painful at all, I didn't even feel the prick in my stomach. I have lost 24 lbs in the past 6 weeks and should start losing 1-2 lbs for the next few weeks as that is the norm. If I don't then they will fill me again. I have to let my doctor know how my progress is going. :nervous
