I battled my weight for most of my life. I was diagnosed with PCOS at the age of 19 and was told that I would never be able to have children. I started out at 165 my freshman year of college. I dieted, excercised everything that I could think of but the weight piled on. Two years after I graduated from college I thought that I had another cyst rupture and went to the doctor to be examined. At that visit I found out that I was actually pregnant. I was so shocked that it took 15 minutes of me arguing with the doctor about why he couldn't fill my birth control pills. My husband laughed so hard at me. I went through a very rough pregnancy after that. I didn't gain very much weight about 15-20lbs. Most people thought I was about 5 months when I was 71/2 months. when I reached 35 weeks on the exact day I delivered by emergency c-section. My daughter was 4lbs 8oz. (healthy as can be, surely blessed). I was placed on lots of medicines for my still elevated blood pressure which cause my pre-term delivery due to eclampsia. Several months after I gave birth I ended up at 258lbs that was the heaviest I had ever been. Finally my doctor placed me on metformin to help treat the PCOS. Within the next 7 months I dropped down between 215-220. I was stuck the dieting and excerise didn't help. I finally decided to have the lap band surgery and it took me less than 1 1/2 months to have everything completed to have the surgery. I had my surgery on december 21, 2009. Iweighed in at 211 lbs. I stayed less than 24 hours in the hospital after having my surgery. I had tremendous pain due to having a hernia repaired as well. However, my doctor came to check on me several times before I was discharged to make sure that I was okay. After I was sent home his staff called to check on me to see if there was any problems. My problems were severe pain in my shoulder like I had been dropped (it was just gas LOL). My recovery was a little slower than expected due to me ending up in the ER on new years due to congestion. After I recovered from that I have been constantly going. The doctor and his staff really care about you as a person . My last appointment was on 1/27/10 and I weighed in at 194 I have even come off the metformin also. So I have seen progress. I would like to try for another child in the future. I am very excited to see how much weight I can loose. This website is really awesome by the way
