I am 39 years old and have 4 children ages ranging from 22 to 11 months. I was phisically fit with my older 2 kids (boys) and tried to teach them good workout and eating habits. Both kids are in great shape and work out daily. I have two small girls and I am in horrible shape. I have not worked out consistantly for about 12 years and I feel the lack of energy and the scale just kept climbing. I knew I needed to get a handle on my weight to be a good example for my girls. My husband is athletic as both of my older boys - I started gaining weight about 7 years ago and I feel it was a result of my thyroid issue. I know and understand a thyroid problem can't make you gain weight but it can make it harder to loose weight. Regardless of the method, consuming food makes you gain weight. I had my thyroid removed 2 years ago and dropped 30 lbs (also sticking to Jenny Craig) and got pregnant with my 4th child. Weight loss was on hold once again. I had my daughter in February 2009 and lost 30 of the 60 I gained while pregnant and knew it was time to get down to business of getting the weight off. I have a friend that was banded February of 2009 and has dropped about 60 lbs and loves her band. I started researching and found as much info as I could find and attended a seminar of Dr. Fox and was sold. I think I just finally realized life is to short, I cant ski with my kids; I am self concious; dont want to wear shorts in public; etc.. I want the weight off NOW. Truthfully after the seminar I was scared to death because I would never be able to eat a 'sandwich' again! HA. I knew with that frame of mind, I needed to do something! I discussed with my father, husband and older kids and they were all excited so I chose to go for it. I was sad however that it had to come to surgery to loose weight and felt like I had failed myself in many ways. On the other hand, past is past and it is time to move forward. Today is my second day post op and I feel 100% better than I felt yesterday and hope to feel even better tomorrow. I have lost about 10 lbs since I started my pre-op diet and although I am not "hungry" I want to eat - but I am sticking to the rules. The gas was a bit painful but with a friends advice, I started arm circles, hugging myself and walking. After doing that, I feel so much better. It is true - walk, walk walk. I hope that this journey will lead me to success as I am very excited to get my life back and really take care of it this time.
