    Caffeine anyone???

coffee coffee coffee..... i have some almost every day! I too loved me some Diet Coke but was willing to give it up...
  2. Thanks for posting... first fill coming up and I'm chanting in my head chew chew chew ...lol
  3. Obviously I had the band because I have a weight problem. I was hoping several of you out there might be able to shed some light as to how you may have overcome or are working towards getting your mind to obey I do not feel hungry in my belly but my mind isn't getting the message. When I wasn't banded or eating right I ate whenever. Now that my belly isn't hungry my mind is still saying 'hmmm we should eat something'. How do you turn that off? I've truly been the live to eat person not the eat to live, and I'd love to know how some are dealing with this. Life has always revolved around food, eating NOT because I was hungry but it was something to do. Any words of wisdom here?
  4. Thanks for the words... I will seriously be working on this as time goes by.

    Home sweet home

I didn't have one (a binder) but I bet it would have made things easier, getting up and down. Its good to be on the other side of surgery! Best of luck on your journey:rolleyes:
  6. How did your surgery go? I see you were just banded, I've been a month now.

  7. We set up a gym in our garage as well. Treadmill, weight machine, pilates, bike and Wii. I was doing really well but need to get my butt in gear....
  8. I was snooping in the 30's area even though I'm in my 40's Can I just say in my 'imaginary mind' I would want to punch most of these people in the head. Granted I'm not a violent person but wow that would just feel good! I've heard a lot of things myself and so has my autistic son.... I just tell the kids 'people who make fun of someone else, are just trying to cover up their own problems, and in making fun of others is their way of making themselves feel better'. (granted at the time feelers are still hurt) I love the person who made the comment of 'more douchebags'... there certainly are plenty of them out there!

    Introductions:

Hey All! Brenda from Idaho here. I had my surgery on November 18th, 2010. I have been doing pretty good, my surgeon has me on 3wks liquids, 3wks puree. I'm just now introducing some solids in.. YIPEE! I have spent the last 10-12yrs over weight and have tried the usual weight loss methods, always able to lose but never able to maintain. I have HBP,HCL, PCOS, sleep apnea, Diabetes and depression (some of that due to a 16yr old step son with autism). My cousin had LB about 2 yrs ago and she's who inspired me to check this all out. I plan to use this tool to the max, get to a healthy weight and live the life I have thought about for a long time. The eating right doesn't frighten me, its the part about getting my head in the right frame. food has always controled me so now I want to control it. I grew up in a family that food was HUGE. Any reunion you would think an entire city was coming to eat the way the counter was full of food and not small portions I have cooked for my family the same way. My husband used to wonder who all was coming for dinner when he'd see the feast before him! My hubby needs to lose too and is on board with doing this with me. We have set up a small gym in our garage and work out together. Keeping more active and being a supportive eater is our goal with each other. Pleased to meet the other November Bandsters!
  10. I am no expert in this area, but all I have read here, and from my surgeon it doesn't seem right. If she isn't eating much sounds almost like she's starving herself. Most people who have posted here can't eat bread due to it turning into a dough ball Maybe she's too tight in her fill and she's not able to eat because of that. People with the band should be able to eat normally just a lot less. If you check the "food nutrition" area of the site there is a post about "What did you eat today", that might help you out too.
  11. Marisa, I am having my very first fill on January 3rd.
  12. Anyone else?! I know there are more who have been through this or in it right now... Thanks!

    Ketosis Bandsters

Glad I found this post, I just saw my nutritionist and this is what she suggested for me. She wants me to get 105g of protein, I'm a little nervous about that but still in the early postOp stages. My first fill is in a couple weeks so I'm trying to get everything 'mind' wise prepared

    Where do I even start?

I did a lot of research prior and had a cousin who's been banded a couple years. The first thing that I did was see what my insurance covered. If they weren't able to cover any I would have had to wait. Luckily they paid 80%, I wanted to make sure I met their requirements before I attended my first seminar. It truly is a journey of a lifetime and well worth it. Granted I have been banded only a month but I was totally on board the moment I signed the papers at the seminar. I'm excited for my future!

    Anyone Still Surprised?

Congratz Girl.. keep up the good work!
  19. I have UHC, I had 3 items from them I had to meet, BMI, Obese 5yrs+ & Diabetes. My surgeon had like 7 things I had to have done . I was approved in 5 days. Good luck!

    I'm here to help...

IndioGirl55: My doc has me 3 weeks liquids (only clears the first couple days), then 3 weeks of puree/mushie the 30th is my 6weeks. My first fill is the 3rd of January. From what I've heard the 6weeks is a longer time then some to do the liquid/mushie phase, but I'm doing as he asks. His reason, he wants all swelling gone and to just take it easy before the 1st fill. I'll just keep chanting chew chew chew... chew chew chew
  21. I was told by my Docs office to ask for a 'split' study.. meaning if I did need the CPAP machine they would come in wake me up and put it on me. This way I didn't have to go back again for another study with the machine on. There truly are a ton of wires you are hooked up to, but the tech who did mine was super nice and just talked to help keep my mind off of things. I actually slept really well there, I didn't think that I would. I unfortunately needed the CPAP machine so he woke me up and put the mask on and I was back to sleep in no time. All in all not a bad experience.

    I'm here to help...

Hey All! I haven't posted for awhile.. nothing new happening since I'm in my 6 weeks of liquids/puree. I will be having my first fill in a couple weeks and I am feeling nervous about it. Not the fill itself but the restriction, the chewing well, the dry meals, possible stuck foods... any words of wisdom? I haven't lost much in these last 4 weeks, I feel mostly because eating mushies its not like I'm finding a well balanced meal. But I'm ok with that since I've been told that before the 1st fill you may or may not lose much.
  23. I'm on wellbutrin and celexa, I take them as usual. I didn't gain weight from them prior to surgery and have been on them over 2 years. They are both small enough that I have not had any problems with them.

    The biggest loser episode 12-07

You go girl! ... and go Ada One thing I noticed and plan on doing now, is the video the made to themself. I am newly banded so if you have lost a lot you'd be in a different place. But I thought the idea of sending a message from your old overweight self to the new at weight self would be a motivation down the line to keep thin and not go back to the old ways.
