  1. Hey lap-banders! I had my band filled to 6cc last month, and of course at first it was pretty tight. But since then I have had random periods where I can't eat hardly anything without vomitting, of course I follow the liquid diet regiment and it gets better, then in a week or so it starts up again. This past week I haven't had any vomitting but have had severe gas/burping everytime I eat or drink anything. I am still able to eat and keep things down, i just burp a whole lot. I am concerned about a bad slippage but everything I've read says if it was that I would be vomiting and very uncomfortable, which I am not, but I would like to know what is causing all this gas?? Any words of wisdom??
  2. Hey Lap-banders! Scared and Failing, I was so sad to read your post, because I totally understand how you are feeling. I was banded on December 23, 2009, but my starting weight was a whopping 375, and in the first few months I had only lost 20 pounds and I was so frustrated. But I had in the beginning of march and since then I've lost another 22 pounds, and things are looking up. I still have a ton of weight to lose, but I try not to focus on that, and focus on the small triumphs. Also before my fill I was at 5cc in a 10 cc band, and had very little restriction, and they added 1cc and now I am very restricted, so 1cc can really make all the difference. I have even considered having them take a little out because I have had some vomitting and gas, but instead I have adjusted my diet to make sure I have given it my best shot, and I haven't been cheating and eating things I know I shouldn't be, and it seems to have helped. So don't get discouraged, weight loss is a life long venture, so look at the bright side and try not to give up, because 1 more cc can really make all the difference!!
  3. Hey all! I was banded December 23, 2009, and have 1 fill since then. I am having some unusual pain on my left side, where my stomach is, and was wondering if anyone has experienced a slipped band? The pain is more a slight tinge, not anything extreme, but I am scheduled for my next fill on Thursday March 11, and am concerned about it. A few weeks back I had a 3 day stretch where I vomitted once each day, but since then haven't had any trouble. Sometimes the pain comes after I have eaten, but other times it's just there. Any words of advice?
  4. I think you are doing the right thing! I am 27 years old, and morbidly obese. I was banded on December 23, and have nothing but great things to say about it. It does take a few months to get used to it, and you still have to be conscious of what you eat and when, but it is a piece of the puzzle. I was fortunate enough to have a healthy pregnancy despite being 350 pounds, and having a family history of every weight related problem you can think of. I am so glad I did the surgery, I've lost almost 30 pounds since the surgery, and i've only had 1 adjustment. I look at my son, and everyday I know I made the right decision. I hope your surgery goes well & know that you are making an investment in the future for you and your family.
  5. I totally know what you mean! I have lost weight several times on WW but then always gained it back. It wasn't until I got pregnant, and was nearly 400 pounds that I realized I wasn't going to be able to do this alone. I absolutely love the Core program, when I went back after I had my son they had introduced the Momentum program, but I don't like counting points at all, so I have been focusing on filling foods only too! I'm glad to hear it has worked so well, I am researching meetings in my area as we speak! Thanks for the advice!

2 Months Post Op & Struggling

I think everyone is right, I will call and schedule an appointment for a fill before April. I do have the disadvantage of living 400 miles from my surgeon, this is not ideal. Unfortunately I was already approved through my insurance for my surgeon when we had to move for my fiance's job, so I have to make sure I can make the trip down to So Cal to have the adjustment. It is a bit more coordination, but I really like my surgeon so it is worth it. On that note, has anyone had to change surgeons after surgery? I am planning on staying with mine for the first year, but will be looking to find a surgeon closer to home in the coming months and was wondering about the process. Thanks for any help/advice you might have!!
  7. Hi lap band friends! I had my surgery December 23, 2009, and have lost 25 pounds, and had 1 adjustment so far. My weight loss has pretty much stopped the last week or so, and I feel like I am able to eat too much still. I don't have another adjustment scheduled until April, should I call and ask for an adjustment sooner? Does anyone have advice on feeling fuller for longer? I really want to kick start my weight loss, but have been feeling so unmotivated! HELP!!

2 Months Post Op & Struggling

Journaling is a good idea for sure! I just started keeping a financial journal and it really helps. I do use sugar free creamer & splenda in my coffee, but I also work for an In-Store branch of a bank, and am surrounded by food all day long! I have to walk through the bakery & the Starbucks to get to the bathroom..which is hell by the way!! I am hoping that joining this support group & making myself accountable for what I eat is going to get me back on track. I also think I am missing my protein goal, which tracking would help me fix! Thanks for the advice & support!
