    October 2006 Bandsters!

Hi, I was in the same boat and then a nutritionist told me that after surgery you retain a lot of fluid for several days. i was banded on the 19th and think i have only lost about 4-5 pounds and I am following the rules to the T. It is frustrating but we just have to wait it out.

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Hi, At the hospital I started at 313 and post-op was 307. I have not been back to the doc and my scale does not match the doctor's at all (it registers much less. I will be going next week to the doctors so should get an accurate reading but it seems like I have only lost about 4 pounds and I was banded on the 17th. Is this unusual or ok? I have to say the hardest part of this whole thing was learned how to do the tickers! I still do not know how to do it. I go to the page and click on the little ball to the left of the one that I want and that is all that happens, it gets filled in. I do not see any codes or anything, so I just copy it and paste it. Help please.

    Massachusetts Bandsters Chat

Hi, I am from Westfield and was banded on the 17th. Went home (from Baystate Medical Center) on the 18th and to work on the 19th. No pain from the actual surgery but the gas! Baystate is starting a lapband support group in November for those that want to get together. I think it is the first Monday (the 6th) in conference room 5.

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Hi, I had my surgery on the 17th and it went very well. Stayed in the hospital until the next day. They would not let me go until I peed and that was giving me trouble but finally had success. I went back to work the next day until 2:00 and did not take any pain meds. I will say that the gas was the most uncomfortable and lasted several days. The program I was in is terrific with a lot of support. (Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA) I am still on liquids until the 26th when I can have some smooth foods then the week after soft foods and finally the next week regular stuff - just before Thanksgiving! I am postponing my first fill until the week after because of the week you have to go back to liquid, smooth and soft.

Why do so many people go to Mexico rather than having it at home?

    October 2006 Bandsters!

In 6 days I will have my surgery. I have been on the shakes for 10 days. I am drinking the EAS Advant Edge carb control shakes. I am supposed to have 5 a day, one serving of starch, one fruit and one vegetable. I am having trouble drinking all 5. In the morning (I bought a one size blender called the Magic Bullet) and put in frozen strawberries and my vanilla shake and it is actually quite good. I have not been hungry at all. I am looking forward to the surgery. Does anyone know how long before you can go back to work?

    October 2006 Bandsters!

My date is October 17th and I started my liquid diet yesterday. I am drinking the EAS Advant Edge Carb Control. I mix one up in the morning in my Magic Bullet - a great little blender that you can get at Bed, Bath and Beyond for $59.95 and you can usually get a 20% off coupon. I miss something crunchy and so take 6 Triscuits for my starch to fill that need.:hungry:
