    Lost all motivation

I'm sure that many of us have experienced some of the same things you write about. I gained weight my first month. I had no restiction and no clue about the "sweet spot". It seemed like a fantasy. I am now four months and have lost 50 pounds. Was it always easy? No. Did I want fast food? Many times. When you find yourself on the go, you have to order what you know is the best option there. Don't browse the menu. For example, if I must stop by a fast food joint, I automatically order some kind of grilled chicken without the bun....no combo deals at all. That way, I am not even tempted to other choices. Snacks.... I pack my own. No time? I make the time for me to have what I can eat on hand. I can always find some kind of Protein shake that meet the proper requirements at some store. Hang in there. I get a renewed energy and motivation after every fill. I'm sure you'll make better choices after your fill. That's what you have to tell yourself:smile: Banded 02/25/2010

one picture = so much damage...

Don't be discouraged. Remember the weight didn't come on overnight and it won't leave overnight. It is logical to want weightloss for vain reasons but also think about health and other aspects of losing weight. You lost 18 pounds. That is awesome. I want to lose more weight than what I've lost too and I still cringe when I see phtots of me, but guess what? I know deep inside that had I not gotten the band, I'd be heavier now than I was four months ago. Hang in there and use that picture to be a motivation to get you to where you will be in the future. Read the success stories and think about your "before" and "after". Your doctor, the band, those in the forum ....we're here to help you experience success.

    Help me!!!!!

I did eat some bites of a few things that I was not supposed to during the first week of the pre-op. I was told that I had to lose at least 10 pounds or my surgery could be canceled. I was weighed the day of surgery, and had lost 21 pounds. As far as everything else I agree with the advice given by Bklynike. You only cheat yourself. Forgive yourself for now but be ready for the post-op. Good luck!

    It's is a Secret...

Maybe you mom told her? My mom did a good job of informing the other family members.

    It's is a Secret...

Well, I did not hide mine surgery from anyone....and now, it is biting me in the butt. People watch everything I eat. At work, I hear things like, "Are you supposed to be eating that?" I'm always under scrutiny. I follow food guidelines very closely (haven't even tried bread, rice or pasta) but sometimes I may decide to eat something like fried fish and the crowd goes wild!!! My mother and older people in my family make remarks about "losing weight the old fashioned way". If cutting back and excercising was truly a one fit for all then most would not be overweight right? Besides, we still have to do our part with the band. Another thing, people often make the rude/nasty/thoughtless remarks when they are ignorant. I often bounce back by offereing to take them to a weightloss seminar. That shuts them up....but it is not a good feeling to feel like you have to defend your surgery decision All of the time. Well I am very much like you, an active person who eats like a bird. Follow your heart and don't feel bad about deciding not to tell whomever/whoever. Your surgery will be here soon!

    have i finally reached restriction

    Sounds like restriction to me!
  12. I am doing great. Food choices and excercise just keeps getting easier. I am nine pounds shy of my first goal. I have cleaned out my closet and am already shopping cause my other clothes just looked so big and sloppy on me.

  13. The added excercise is a positive that you should be proud of:thumbup:. I'm almost willing to bet that if you keep that going along with a change in your daily foods, you'll see a dramatic difference. A fill may not be necessary right now. Visit this site daily for encouragement, recipe ideas and advice. Also, blogging, journaling, and making videos have all been proven to help improve self worth and self-evaluation. Good luck!

A Good way to Stay on Track

Goodmorning bandsters and prebandsters. I just wanted to say that I live on this site because it helps me stay on track. I read others experiences and it reminds me what to or not to do. Thanks everyone for all of your posts.
  15. You are likely to get stuck from pasta, rice, and bread because those foods swell in your pouch. I don't eat any of those items. Sweet cravings are hard to cease, I speak from experience so I know what you're going through with those but try cutting back bit by bit and excercise self control. Simple sugars give you a blood spike and give you comfort mindwise but then causes you to crave more sugar. Don't buy the stuff. I find that if it is not in the house, then the temptation is not there. It seems that you need a modification of your food choices more so than a fill. Certainly, I am not qualified to tell you how much of a fill...but.... How much do you have in your band now and what kind of band do you have?
  16. How has everything been going Mspritsy?

    6/30/10 Partial Unfill...Slip? Esophageal Spasms?

Yikes, this sounds awful. I have not experienced anything remotely close to what you're going through but I hope it works out for you soon....off to the blog site.
  18. Happy Bandiversary!!!! A loss is a loss regardless of the amount. How often do you go in for your fills? Also, what food patterns are you following? Answers to these two questions can make all of the difference in the world. Remember, the band is going to do it's job, you just have to do yours. (That's what I always tell myself!) If you are making good food choices, not getting stuck, and are hungry after a half cup of food, then it is prolly time for a fill. My doctor's office recommends coming in monthly for an adjustment. What are your doctor's recommendations?
