I am an elementary music teacher and a divorced parent of three small children. I have contemplated weight loss surgery since 2003. I originally planned gastric bypass surgery in 2003 but became pregnant, so the idea went out of the window. I then decided to have gastric bypass again in 2008. The surgeon who I was going to use retired a month before my planned surgery so I chose a new surgeon. The new surgeon's office make me reapply for the surgery by making me repeat the stipulations given by my insurance company. Well, when I met my surgeon, he noticed that I was anemic and suggested the lapband. I didn't want lapband. I wanted gastric so I decided to find a new surgeon. Little did I know....I was pregnant again. At that time, I totally gave up on weight loss surgery. I felt like it was not in God's plan for me. Well, back in August '09 I was online and saw an ad for lap band. I decided to fill out the info and attend a seminar. I had gone to several and knew what to expect. I went through the program again, and now..became banded on February 25th. I am excited!!! I am not losing weight as fast as I'd like...buy hey, I'm not gaining any....so I can;t complain. I truly believe the band was the best option for me so I have no regrets.
