  1. Sorry to say, I am NOT off of my prestique, nor do I think I should be at this dreary wintery cold time of year. I have, however, cut down to 1/2 of my diabetic medicine.
  2. Jasmine, How are you doing? Did you have your surgery? Do you have any questions? I was banded on December 28 and I remember being nervous to shower (I took a shower 2 days after my surgery and it was done in the same day surgery wing.) I actually made my husband come into the bathroom and check on me. I am a baby about stitches and things. I had 4 holes and a 2 inch incision for the port (didn't realize I would have a 2" incision for my realize band.) I would be happy to be your buddy as you go through this process. When you feel up to it, drop me an e-mail: vanb0725@optonline.net. I would also be happy to give you my phone number so that we can chat from time to time about whatever you like. Warmly, Debby S.

    Realize Band Website

Dear Friends, I am with all of you. I really thought that there would be a forum like this on the Realizeband.com site and of course, there wasn't. I had to find you all on google. Today is my first day that I feel any restriction at all - I got banded on 12/28/2009. I had 4.5 cc put in and then this week had 1.5 cc more put in. I still get hungry, but eat slowly and find that I am eating less. I will see how it goes and then make a decision based on my weight loss if I want more saline put in on March 10. At my highest, I was 225 pounds. I lost 3 pounds on November 12 because I came down with H1N1 flu and had to postpone my surgery. Then, of course, I was on Protein drinks and lost 6 pounds on those. I have lost another 11 pounds since my surgery and purchased a cheap eliptical machine from Walmart which I plan to use tomorrow. I also have type II diabetes and in the past tried everything under the sun to lose weight, to no avail. Happy to meet you all. Debby S.

    Wondering When it works

Hi. I am relatively new to this. I had surgery on December 28, 2009. I have had 2 band fills and now have a total of 6cc in my band. I am finally feeling some restriction - and am feeling full on less. I have already made an appointment to have another band fill on March 10. I will try another 1 to 2 cc. My surgeon explained to me that our goal is not to completely fill the band, but to keep filling it gradually until we achieve a weekly weight loss of 1 to 2 pounds a week. Every person is different he said. I think that we have to be patient with this. I also meet every 6 weeks with his nutritionist and take her advice. Unlike with gastric bypass, slow and steady wins the race for realize band users.
