  4. I agree with Sojouner. We are all different and so are our bands. I cannot tolerate rice , pasta and bread (rarely eaten). I do not remember how i was at the beginning because i stayed away from it because they were carbs. Have tried it since and was not comfortable. That doesn't mean you can't have it. I love love love sushi . I eat it now and i ask for no rice and to have it cut smaller. Its still yummy. They don't want to do it but if you insist on it they will. It is not sashmi because it has the seaweed and looks like sushi w/o rice. Steak i eat rarely and my favorite cut is skirt nice and thin. Hamburgers are ok medium but can't a whole one and off course no bread. Chicken- breast i can have the first day and cut thin and small. In resturants they are often dry. Most often i have thighs and i am happier. So you see we are all different. It is hit and miss so you will have to try. My big suggestion is don't try sometime your are questioning out side of your home especially for the first time. Keep asking questions and breathe Good Luck wendy

    Hi First off congrats. You are at the beginning of the journey. Yes being hungry is normal. Your dr should have given you a list and schedule of when to begin each part like clear liquids, mushies, cream soups etc. The pain you are feeing could be gas or just healing because it is still early. Your very inflamed inside by both your band site and port. My dr said no straws because of the air you take in when you use it. That could be irritating you as well. Keep walking and drinking water. Sometimes hot stuff make you feel better too. Good luck Please have patience. Wendy

    i was told to wait 60 min. I believe you also get your nutrition and everything you need from as well. The food doesn't just stay in the band forever

  10. I know lots of people have different opinions when it comes to drinking ( and everything else) I go by my dr instructions. 30 min before and 60 min after. Remember the rules. Chew chew chew,eat slowly and cut into small pieces. Especially at the beginning try not to eat while doing anything else including watching tv. I found it easier to eat alone at the beginning because when you focus on the food and here and now it is easier to get the hang of the rules. If you mess up no worries move on. Don't let your self get to hungry or you will eat to fast. Ok off of my soap box. Good luck wendy

    Don't feel guilty. We did not do this to never enjoy food. Once in a while is not terrible. You ate it. go back to the the other foods now and move on.

    Sounds like you did great. I myself can not do rice. Of course the sauces are high in calories but once in a blue moon it is ok. You were smart in chewing so well. If you get on the scale tomorrow and see a slight increase don't freak out. It will be water. With Asian foods the body retains water.

    I'm Not Ashamed.

    I am 2+ yrs with the band. There are many people who do not know. I am not embarrassed. I have worked for every lb that i have lost ( and some that I have not lol). Just yesterday I have a friend who actually asked me "you didn't get the band did you?" Before i can speak she went into a tiraid about how bad it is. I told her to not speak about what she has no knowledge about. I did not ever say yes it because people like that are opinionated and will never listen and it is not necessary for me to have to defend myself. The people who know and mostly who I surround myself with are the ones that are most supportive. Wendy

    i don't mind cold chili in a throw away coffee cup, tuna,humus with veggies or crackers,make muffin meals and take one. Egg salad, sliced turkey but don't forget mayo. wendy
