    Spring into March 2010 Bandsters

Congrats on the NSV natrlblonde!!! I went in this morning for my one week post op. From the day I scheduled my surgery to today I have lost 25 pounds!!! I am very excited but of course wish it was more...lol. I was told that I could move on to softer whole foods such as fish, soft boiled eggs and tofu. That will be nice. Hope every one had a good week and have a great Easter!!!
  2. I am making cupcakes for the kids and for me a dessert that has SF orange jello, cottage cheese, and Lite Cool Whip in it. You can add fruit to it but I like it with just those 3 items. Plus I am not sure what I will be able to eat since I was just banded 3/25

UGHHH!!! I am so frustrated!!! Today was the first day that I had to get dressed, other than just lounging clothes, and my jeans are tighter on me than before surgery!!!! I have been told that is due to the swelling from surgery still but come on I have to go back to work on Wednesday. And the bloated feeling is really old to. How can something as simple as water make you bloated? I still do not regret the choice I made to have this done but I am ready to move on. I am still really tired and get hot flashes. I made a lasagna for dinner tonight for my hubby that has just been great through the whole thing and now I am ready for bed. I wish I had the energy that some of you seem to have.
  4. Welcome Laura!!! I had my surgery the he only outing I have had was to the store yesterday and it took all my energy. I have three children 13, 5, and 3. Good luck on your journey.

I am wondering when I will start to feel like myself again. I am not regreting this but am ready for my tummy to not feel yucky. I can't even eat jello with out wanting to be sick. However I think that is jsut because I am over jello after the two week pre-op. Monday will be the day I can start to eat something with more substance to it so maybe then.
  6. Hi thank you for leaving a message on my page. I was wondering how you are doing since surgery since we were both banded today. My surgery was at 730am and I was discharged at 235pm. Pain is not horrible other than the gas pain in my neck and shoulder. Hope you are doing well! TTYL.

Well I made it through!!!...lol...I am home now. I was dicharged at 235pm and got homw a little after 3. I can't beieve I had anything done other than the insision and the gas pain in my shoulder and neck. I only slept 10 while I was there so I am going to try and take a nap now. Thank you all so much for your thoughts and well wishes. I will check backin later I am sure. enewman830 - I was a 730am pt as well. I would not have had it any other way. I will be thinking of you tomorrow.
  8. Well I am back and banded!!!!!! I so do not feel any different. Just not really hungry. All I want is things to dring my mouth is so dry. Not really sore, other than the horrid gas pain in my shoulder and neck. Dr. Malley said that I had a hietal hernia (sp?) and that I might be a little more sore from that. Well I only slept about 10 minutes while I was there so I am going to try and get some sleep now. Thank you for being there for me!

    Spring into March 2010 Bandsters

Well in just in about 10 hours they will be wheeling me back to get my band. Wonder how much sleep I will get tonight? I have a few things left to do tonight....lay out the kids clothes, pack my sons lunch, getmy things layed out and then try to sleep. My mom is coming to get me in the morning so that my husband can take the kids to daycare at 6 am. Then he will be joining us at the surgery center. I am excited but still scared. It is not the surgery or the after sugery that is getting to me. It is the being put to sleep and afraid I will not wake up. Normal I am sure...right.
  10. I hope to post as soon as I get home. I am sure I will be very sleepy and a little sore but I have a few people at work that I have told that will also be waiting to hear from me. Oh and my 13 year old daughter insisted on a text message from me as soon as I wake up....lol...but sweet.
  11. Tomorrow is my day. I am ready to get it over with. I thought I was over being scared but I cried all the way home. I know I am doing the right thing for me and my family. And it is not the surgery that scares my it is the being put to sleep. I am sure I will be fine. I have no major health issues so all will be fine.....right.

    Spring into March 2010 Bandsters

Well tomorrow is my day. I have to be at the surgery center at 6:00 am and surgery is at 7:30 am. Today is all clear liquids which doesn't seem to be bothering me much....yet. I am sure I will be ready for mushies come Sunday. I only have to do a clear diet for 1 day before surgery and 3 days after. I have a question for all of you who have already been banded. My daughter has a 2 game softball tournament on Sunday and I was wondering how you were feeling 3 to 4 days out. Do you think you could have gone to a softball tournament for the day or is that pushing it?

Four more days!!! I am down 20lbs so far on my pre-op diet!!!
  14. Home from the baby shower. I was worried about nothing. There was about 60 people there and no one noticed that I never got a cupcake! So 4 more days til surgery. WooHoo!!
  15. Well Thirsday is the day!!! I am getting less nervous than I have been the last couple of weeks. When I weighed at the doctors office the day I scheduled surgery I was 340lbs. This morning, after 8 days on the pre-op, I am down to 323! I have a baby shower to go to tomorrow and I am not sure how I am going to turn down the cake and punch. I know they will question why I am not eating it. No one in my famliy, other than my mom and dad, know that I am having this done.
  16. I had my pre-op blood work done this afternoon and those poor nurses stuck me 4 time and could not get a drop of blood from me. They were so nice and felt so bad for having to stick me so much. They ended up sending me to a lad Quest to have my labs drawn.

    Spring into March 2010 Bandsters

Hello all. I am on day 5 of pre-op and so far so good. I have lost 11 lbs since last Thursday. I went in for my pre-op blood work today and the dangt nurse bless her heart stuck me 4 times and never found a vein. She felt so bad for sticking me so many times. Heck I am use to it. I know I have hard veins to find. She had to send me to the lab and they got me on one try. Then it was off to the bank to get my first of two payments for them. That was tough to have to withdraw that much money but it will be well worth it.
  18. I have a question for both of you. Do you miss eating? I mean you are suppose to get full right, so are you satisfied? Or do you miss having a big meal? Or are there certain things that you miss eating? For instance, my family had grilled hamburgers last night for dinner and they looked so yummy. Then it hit me I will never be able to eat a burger with a bun again. Does it bother me? Not really. Not now anyway but it made me wonder if I might miss it further into this journey I get. I can just see us traveling and stopping at a McDonald's and me asking for a chicken sandwich hold the bun. LOL...they will look at me like I am crazy.
  19. Congrats!!! How are you feeling? I am getting my band on 3/25.
  20. Well I am glad to see that you plan to come to one more meeting. I have to say that the meeting last month was better than this month so I kind of agree with you about the meeting. I just like being around other people that have already been there that I can learn from. It was nice to meet you and if nothing else we will keep in touch on through here.
  21. I will make that pledge with you. I will be therer every month. I have my pre-op blood work tomorrow and I am still doing well with the pre-op diet. It really was nice to meet both of you and hope to see you again next month.

I love Pure Protein Shakes. The cookies and cream one. I get them at Target they are pre-mixed (which is easy for me to grab and go in the morning before work) and they are 4 cans for I think $6.99. I just looked at the label and there is 110 calories, 1 gram of fat, 1 gram of sugar, 21 grams of Protein and no aspartame.

    Spring into March 2010 Bandsters

Well I am not sure about that. I guess that is maybe possible but then you have to ask yourself are these people doing what they should be? Are they going in for regular fills? Are they eating "slider" foods? Are they getting in their protein so they get full and stay full? I guess what I am saying is this....I am sure that there are the small few that struggle with the band while doing everything they are suppose to. But you have to ask yourself are the people you are reading about really doing everything they should be and need to be? Are they journaling everything that they eat to see if they are eating the right foods all the time? The nurse that was at our meeting today was telling us about a patient that had been banded for over a year and only lost about 30 or 40 pounds and then stopped losing. They had her journal everything including what she was drinking. They also had her keep track of the time she ate and how long she was eating. What they found out is that she was drinking several cups of strawberry milk a day. They had her cut that out of her diet and she losst 100 lbs that next year.

    Spring into March 2010 Bandsters

I am the same way I want to be one of the lucky ones that the weight comes off quickly but at this point I will take any weight lossI can get. I had another support group meeting today with the doctors office I am having surgery at. The question was asked to the group that had been banded "If you had it to do over again would you?" Every single one of the but one person raised their hands. Even the ones that had only lost 40 pounds in over 2 years. The one person that was not happy with it was banded 3 years ago and has only lost 30 lbs. After listening to him I hate to say it but I can see why. I think that he forgot that it is a "tool" to help you. He was telling us that he is so busy that he could not get in to get fills for over a year. That he ate an entire pizza last night. He also then said and I eat off of salad plate and it does not help. Well if you eat off a salad plate but go back for seconds and thirds then it does not matter how big you plate is does it. He really made me realize that this is something you have to work with. You still have to make good food choices, make sure your portions are right , and workout. I can do this and you can too!!

    Spring into March 2010 Bandsters

Good evening. Well I am on day 3 of my pre-op and so far so good. As long as I keep myself busy I really don't think about it. I need to find something other than shopping though or my bank account is going to suffer. lol. I think I will go start the scrapbook I am going to make for my cousins baby. Glad everyone is still doing well.
