I would go to the nutrition section of this forum and look up some various liquid recipes. I think you can make your own without it being opti-fast but they may still be about the same calories and nutrients as the opti-fast.

I have been doing some reading, and it leads me to another question?
PuppyBandit replied to warrior68's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have read that what is called DUMPING only happens in gastric bypass patients. -
I'm pre surgery and experimenting, so far my favorite is mocha smoothie because I can get a little caffeine with it. Here is link to my thread with 5 smoothie recipes: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f9/5-protein-shakers-smoothies-116051/
-
I'm calling these "shakers" because I shake them up in my Blender Bottle (love the bottle, got 2 from amazon.com) :Dancing_biggrin: My dietician wanted me to try 5 different Protein Drinks and report in on our next visit, I'm still pre-op doing my 6 month insurance required stuff... She wants me to already know what I like for after surgery so I'm not just thrown in and not sure what to eat/drink. Here are the 5 recipes: Dreamsickle Yogurt Shaker 1 container orange yogurt 1 yogurt container of milk 1 Serving vanilla Instant Breakfast powder or Vanilla Protein Powder Shake in blender bottle, chill and enjoy. (Not tried this one yet) Alternate: 1 container plain yogurt 1 yogurt container of orange juice 1 Serving Vanilla Instant Breakfast Powder Cappuccino Shaker 1 cup cold coffee 1 cup milk 1 Serving Vanilla Instant Breakfast Powder or Vanilla Protein Powder 2-4 splenda packets (optional) Shake in blender bottle then put in freezer for 30 minutes. (I didn't like this one) Note: If it's too much liquid, I read you can skip the liquid coffee and use some instant coffee granules. Mocha Shaker 1 cup cold coffee 1 cup milk 1 Serving chocolate Instant Breakfast Powder or Chocolate Protein Powder 2-4 splenda packets (optional) Shake in blender bottle then put in freezer for 30 minutes. (I like this one) Note: If it's too much liquid, I read you can skip the liquid coffee and use some instant coffee granules. Island Yogurt Shaker 6 oz pineapple Juice 1 Pina Colada Yogurt (or pineapple coconut yogurt) 4 oz Milk (optional) 1 Serving Vanilla Instant Breakfast Powder or Vanilla Protein Powder Shake in blender bottle. (I like this one) Will try in blender and add a banana sometime. Strawberry Yogurt Shaker 1 container strawberry yogurt 1 yogurt container of milk 1 Serving Strawberry Instant Breakfast Powder or Strawberry Protein Powder Shake in blender bottle. (I like this one) Will try in blender and add a banana, bet it would be good. --------------------------------------------- The ones with the yogurt had some small chunks of fruit, so not sure what stage they would be good for. ---------------------------------------------

Jeannie: I hope you like them. The Island one could use a little splenda in it. It tastes like the icing of a cake I make. I like it lol. If you like more coconut, add a little coconut extract. Anything to make it so you can drink it Iwanna: According to the dietician, yes they do. :cursing:

something silly to be excited about!
PuppyBandit replied to settebee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Once you have all the records you need, it's like a big sigh of relief. I had a hard time finding a weigh in for 2005 and it could have caused me to have to wait an extra year so I know what you mean! -
Chest pains after surgery?
PuppyBandit replied to PSJ71's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a diff type of surgery in 2003 that used the gas to blow me up and the left shoulder pain was pretty bad, it was worse when I coughed for some reason. That is something I'm not looking forward to, but it will go away. At least you (if you get it) will know what it is and not think you are having a heart attack -
Second thoughts...
PuppyBandit replied to Pickles26's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This post sounds like my quit smoking post on a quit smoking support forum. At first I felt like I was missing an arm after quitting, like my best friend had died. A change like this is life altering, but the change will be for the better, not for the worst. But like cigs, unhealthy eating is not a "best friend" it's the enemy and does not support you like a friend, it hurts you and is bad for your health and will shorten your life. -
Anyone out there using Dr. Charles Morton in Nashville, TN?
PuppyBandit replied to Quinny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have 2 friends who had Dr. Morton. They had great results. I'm not sure about length of time. But I know that for 2 weeks, one had to do partial liquid diet for 2 weeks. It was 2 liquid meals (she used carnation instant breakfast) and 1 lean cuisine each day. This was about 5 years ago and this may have changed by now. -
the aging trade off
PuppyBandit replied to karmaandkismet's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have noticed it too and worry about it lol. I think it is the fat filling in the wrinkles kind of like botox and when the fat is gone, the wrinkles have nowhere to hide. Facial exercises during the weight loss process? Plastic Surgery? Not sure there is much to be done about it. I'll wear my sunglasses and enjoy my body when I get it lol -
Banding vs. Bypass with PCOS
PuppyBandit replied to Csully's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From my research, I read that each person is different and the amount you lose can vary. No way can that doctor know what you will lose on the band. I read that in 5 years a banded person and a bypass person lose generally the same amount, only the bypass person loses it faster at first and the banded person loses slower. -
I just ate a piece of bread and my surgury it tomorrow
PuppyBandit replied to Lacylace2001's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sure it will be ok. A lot of people have cheated the day before I think... off topic MY EYES! The blue text burns lol -
Less than 5 lbs to go on pre-op!
PuppyBandit replied to jingleboob's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't touch my 401k for a wedding LOL, no way. Good luck on your last 5 pounds, hope you get your approval soon  -
No need to call people names, goodness. I wouldn't do the unfill if I were you. I'm sure you can enjoy yourself with your band like it is. Just drink a lot of wine lol

Anyone finishing up their 6 months with Cigna
PuppyBandit replied to dm5201's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My friend with Cigna got approval in a week. I wouldn't hound them to death, sometimes you can make people mad and they might "oops, accidentally covered the papers with this book" or something. Always be nice when calling to inquire. If you don't hear something in 2 weeks, then I'd call. But it's only been 3 days right? I have cigna too. I am closing in on finishing up my 6 month thing and can't wait to get my (hopefully) approval and then surgery. -
LOL, I think I'm going to have a hard time cooking small portions also. Think of all the money you will save!

PuppyBandit replied to chatty826's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so sorry you lost your Mother. Your post was very touching and I'm sure she IS proud of you and smiling that pretty smile down on you. That you are inspired to help others is wonderful. You may help someone to live longer with your help and they might help someone and the chain of help will go on. Thank you for this post. We should all be thankful for what we have and tell our loved ones we love them. -
My husband isn't being supportive
PuppyBandit replied to Kristy29's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I sure hope you get the support you need. I was with someone who put me down because of my weight and know how that feels. Good luck with your journey -
Help! Confused...what are my chances??
PuppyBandit replied to kathyotto's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand where you are coming from. I'm just barely over the limit so am having to be very careful during my 6 month pre-op diet to not lose any more than 5 pounds. I also made my height shorter by kind of slumping for this very reason. -
I've got a date.....
PuppyBandit replied to ArmyW!feLori's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yay !!!! I'm happy for you -
My husband isn't being supportive
PuppyBandit replied to Kristy29's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's verbal abuse in my opinion. Maybe you can find an online support group? Guys like that should be careful, they are scared their wife/gf will leave if they are skinny, they order pizza to keep you overweight and dependent. Put you down to keep you meek. Are you living away from family due to his choice or yours? Abusers like to be the only person in your life, that way you have nobody to go to for help or support. These people who put you down for weight really tick me off. They are verbally mean about it. Then big surprise when the wife/gf leaves them for someone who treats them well. Find online support and good luck with your surgery. I hope you get it. Is your hubby overweight? Do not listen to him. Do not have surgery for him either. Only do it for yourself. -
Surgery scheduled for next week... find out today I'm pregnant
PuppyBandit replied to jacobsmomma02's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
congrats on the baby! -
Just banded Yesterday May 17th 2010... I am sick as a dog!!
PuppyBandit replied to ChocolateDream81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes be sure to take your pain meds. Some people after surgery wont' take them as prescribed and it can make the difference between peaceful rest after surgery to agony. Take your meds and sleep is my advice. -
Pre-op is moving along
PuppyBandit replied to Kristy29's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I can relate :w00t:, I started carrying a calendar with me to all my appointments to write the new appointments in LOL. -
what are you most looking forward to after your banded?
PuppyBandit replied to BeautyandtheBand's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm looking forward to putting on my old Levis also. I have some Silvertab Levis I bought new many years ago and they are now vintage LOL. I didn't keep many of my old clothes, but I always kept my Levis and will wear them again! I look forward to feeling like me again. I don't know this person I have become. I can't wait to go out and not be nervous the whole time about bumping into someone I used to hang out with. I used to be average sized, never skinny. But I have become a hermit due to this weight. I want to be a non hermit LOL. I look forward to tucking in my shirt! And the main thing is I look forward to my health improving.
