  1. I've never used those brands, but in my opinion fruity can be mixed with water but the chocolate types are better with milk.
  2. I agree with had enough, do what you have to do, just don't tell anybody. Eat something extremely heavy before you go for weigh in.
  3. I would be leary of doing the surgery there, she is the person you will be having to work with. Is there a bigger city close by? Driving some more miles for a more experienced doctor would be good

    Yes!!

Wow that was fast! Congrats! I've been going to monthly visits for months now, I'm so tired of all the hoops I'm being made to jump through.

Heaviest to get a Lap Band?

My friend was almost 400 pounds when she got her band. They had to use the vanguard band when they got in, not sure what that means, but I think it is bigger around. That was 5 years ago and she is still slowly losing. She looks great and you can tell she feels great. I don't know how much she has lost and she only recently told me she had gotten to almost 400 pounds. She said she is wearing size 22 now and hasn't worn that since high school, she is full of energy now.

    Cocktails anyone???

Malibu and Pinapple (pineapple juice with coconut rum) It's yum
  7. A lady who used to work in my building went wild once she got skinny from gastric bypass. I heard her in the breakroom many times. She started dressing slutty to the point the office had to tell her not to wear revealing clothing lol. She went to a tanning bed so much she looked like leather, it was abnormal looking. It was awful to be around her, she turned into a ho. She was partying when her hubby was out of town and eventually left him. She lost her job and I hear she is living with a drunk now. She substituted food addiction with liquer and went wild.

    Chewable Vitamins?

Just make sure the calcium is calcium citrate otherwise your body will not absorb it. In my paperwork from vandy for lap band stuff it was very specific in saying do not take Centrum silver. Not sure why to be honest.

    Dr Refusal

Sorry to hear this, maybe it will work out somehow

I'm so sick of Nay sayers

The funny thing is most people who are negative are the ones who have dieted/gained/dieted/gained and are now overweight. I had a friend saying a few years ago "it's the lazy way to lose weight" she was fat. She lost some weight on atkins. Well a year later she gained it back and more. The friend with lap band has kept it off. Seems it is almost always overweight people with the negative comments. Or the skinnies who starve themselves.
  11. I heard it's not good to drink beer with a lap band (I'm not banded yet but will be). I think it's because it makes you burp lol. Just a little something I learned yesterday

    Bow Chicka Wow Wow!! APPROVED!

    Congrats and good luck
  13. Whew, slowly but surely these months are moving along. I had my 5th monthly appointment yesterday, they were exactly the same as last month LOL. Insurance requirements sure do make you learn patience! So in the next month I have to go to a support group as required. My 6th of 6 monthly appointments is mid July, then the paperwork can be sent to my insurance FINALLY! My coworker has same insurance and go approved in a week. But the physician is scheduling 2 months in advance, so unless someone cancels and I get lucky, looks like I'm getting banded in October. It is very tempting to go to a different doctor after I get approval. I know one who is booking a week in advance which means I could get banded in August. I had 2 friends be banded by him, and they are very happy with their bands and experience with him. But I won't because I want to get it done at Vanderbilt. So hurry up October!

    Chewable Vitamins?

I chew 3 of these each day (plus one flintstone complete chewable vitamin). I took them to my dietician to make sure they were good enough and she said yes, they do have the calcium citrate in them: GNC Chewable Calcium Plus When I started this lap band stuff, I found out about the chewables and was very happy. I get choked on huge pills that are not round and love the chewables lol
  15. I experimented and here is link to 5 recipes for protein shakes. I added a few packs of splenda to make them sweeter. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f9/5-protein-shakers-smoothies-116051/
  16. I agree it sounds like a car salesman. I would not want them doing my surgery due to you might not get the correct lap band after care. I would drive the extra distance and get a different doctor. I wouldn't settle for a physician only for location when they will be going in my body and doing surgery. This is a life changing thing and should be done by a caring person I think.

    Vitamins

I too was told not to get the gummy Vitamins. I am still pre op but am already taking the stuff per my nutritionist and dietician orders lol 1 flintstone Vitamin daily 3 calcium citrate each day GNC has a type of chewable calcium that has calcium citrate in it and the price is pretty good also. They are cherry flavored and kind of taste like smarties but not sweet. I took the bottle to the surgical weight loss center when I saw my dietician and she said they were fine to take. GNC Chewable Calcium Plus Was also told not to take the vitamin and the calcium at the same time, must have 2 hours between because the vitamin will mess up the calcium, something like that. So I have to take calcium, wait 2 hours, take vitamin, then a few hours later take another calcium, then a few hours later take another calcium lol. The body can only absorb so much calcium, so we have to take them throughout the day.
  18. Vanderbilt Center for Surgical Weight Loss is the actual name. Just curious if there is anyone here who had or is going to have their surgery at Vanderbilt? Dr. Brandon Williams is my surgeon.
  19. Yes, here is their website: Vanderbilt Center for Surgical Weight Loss in Nashville, TN - Home I have a couple friends who had theirs with Dr. Morton and they were very pleased I wanted to go to Vandy because that is where I have all my healthcare and wanted to keep it all at the same place. Good luck!

    "BEFORE" Pictures

I avoid cameras also. I'm always the one taking the pics. When I was a size I felt good at, I was quite the photo ham, so I'm sure I'll be hamming it up again. I've heard too many say they wish they had taken before measurements and photos, so I defo plan to do it.

    Forbidden Foods

I am going thru my pre op stuff and know exactly what you are talking about. I am in 2nd posters stage now, I am realizing I will still be able to have things, just less of them. Of course, there will be some things I won't be able to have, but from what I've read, I really will not know what these are until after I get banded. I have read others do this also. It's like when I quit smoking last year, the week before my quit date, I was smoking like a freight train lol.

    Is it just me?

Does not sound conceited, I used to have a friend like that. We lost touch after she started dating a jerk, but when I saw her pic on facebook I fell out of my chair, he hair is like mine used to be, exactly like it used to be lol. So I do relate to that. Take some fruit on the cupcake day  or a cheesecake yogurt to enjoy

    Is it just me?

Is she smaller than you? Could be she wants the friend bigger than her to stay bigger than her.
