  1. Wow I can't believe they did that and you are self pay and not even met the nutritionist! It's a shame we have to not be too honest huh?
  2. My surgery is October 5, we have close dates!
  3. I have not read this thread on this other site, but it is a clothing swap thread. CLOTHING EXCHANGE as we lose weight! - Band2gether.net Lap Band Support Forums Update: I looked at the last few posts on this and it looks old, sorry.
  4. I think this says it all, from all that I have read, you have to have some restriction for it to work for you.

    Never wake up...

It's normal to be scared of any surgery. After you lose the weight your breathing will be so much better you know?

    O.M.G !! I am so STRESSED out!!

Well said DonTony (I think our band dates are close together). Just relax and remember all the reasons you wanted the band in the first place. If you don't get it, you will wish you did I'm sure. From what I"ve read, many people have cheated on their pre op diet and gone on to get their band and been a success. Good luck!
  7. My sleep study from a few years ago counted. Hope your's will as well My signature shows all the steps I had to go through for my insurance (Cigna). Good luck!

    Trying to stay positive...

I had to stay at least 40 bmi and if I had lost 5 pounds during my 6 month pre op stuff, I would have gone under it. My goal during the 6 month pre op was to stop gaining. I had been steadily gaining since I had a hysterectomy, then when I quit smoking I started gaining more. Maybe you can talk to them about it being about not gaining and learning to eat like a banded person? Good luck

    Are You Telling People?

I've seen the "don't tell" side because my honey told only a few friends and no family. When the mix of those who knew and those who didn't would get together, it was always bad fearing one who knew would tell one who didn't. Also, people would ask me if honey had gastric bypass, I could say "no" honestly since it was lap band. But seeing all the worry about keeping it secret was bad. I have a pretty small family thank goodness lol. I have told almost everyone I am close to. Luckily, nothing negative (yet). But I know at my first family gathering, my nephews wife will be smart about it. She might be walking funny when they leave, because I plan to chew her ass up if she does lol. When I hear of someone saying "you took the easy way out" I get a mental pic in my head of a gravestone with... "here lies so and so, died due to issues from morbid obesity.... at least she/he didn't take the easy way out!" engraved on it. Side note: The people who talk to smokers saying "why don't you quit, it's bad for you" are just as bad. If you are guilty of that, you are making a smoker feel the exact same way you feel when someone says "why don't you just diet and exercise". Can't wait for my surgery! I've been messing with preop stuff almost all of 2010!

    Sick Right Before Surgery

I saw someone else on here post about this and they had to reschedule their surgery. I'd go to the doctor and see about getting an antibiotic shot instead of antibiotic pills. Good luck and hope yo feel better and hope you get your surgery

    Self Sabotage

You can do it! Just think what a few weeks of no carbs will do. I think you will lose the 9 pounds easily if you do this. You can see the lap band on the horizon if you do this. Think of a future where food is not controllng you, but you are controlling it.

    Unflavored Protein

I have used Unjury unflavored. If you use it in hot stuff, it has to be 130 degrees or lower or the powder will clump and not mix correctly. I ordered a sample pack from them and they sent a small food thermometer with it.
  18. Great post. I can't wait to add my own "losses"

    Newbie

don't stand too tall when they measure your height, the shorter you are the higher your bmi will be on the paperwork
  21. I didn't lose any on my 6 month required diet plan.... BUT I did stop gaining. I had steadily been gaining since I had hysteroctemy and then started gaining more when I quit smoking last year. So for me to not gain in 6 months, I was happy lol. Good luck! The 6 months seems like a long time, but take it one month at a time and you'll be at appointment #6 in no time
