I originally looked into gastric bypass surgery about 3 years ago.  It is covered by our medical insurance.  You needed to go about 14 hours away for the surgery.  It is also a much more invasive procedure.  My husband and I decided that we would pay for Lapband instead.  The surgery was only 1.5 hours from home and I didn't even have to stay overnight.  I did it during my Christmas holidays and didn't even need to take any time off work.  This was also good because we have four children under 10 years old.  So far, I am very happy with my decision.  I had my band filled for the first time this week.  I am looking forward to a brighter healthier future.
