    Need advice

My Surgeon says that sweets and chips go down easier , because they are more easily digested because they do not need a lot of saliva to start the digestive process. I had my surgery in 4/10..went from 237 to150, but I wanted such a big weight loss, and eve if I knew it was to tight I did not care. Wherever I went I was throwing up, I made a lovely dinner guest. But I caused myself to have another hernia, slowed my esophagus, caused so much damage to it, aspirated , had pneumonia. Had t have it all fluid taken out, more surgery. I went back to 200 lbs and today I weighted in at 192. They want to see 1 pound a week, that is what they see as success!!! So hang in there!!!!

    Starting again.....time to reinvent!

Good for you and I am glad I read this. Like you I lost 100 pounds, due to stress my band slipped, my hernia returned, and had to have a 4 hr surgery exactly 1 month ago today. I started 4 yrs ago at 246 pounds, went down to about 160. The last 3 months I went up to 194, no Water in belt, I was upset but my doctor said look how long you kept the down and look at this as a new journey well , 1 month after th surgery I am 186 and have a new outlook and I will do it again. They cannot start t fill belt till for 3 more months. But I am okay,,,it is better than 246. Thanks for your encouragement at the right time. We will do it on our new journey!!! Positive thinking!!!!

    What to expect?

To me, it is perfect. We all want more. I am 4 yrs out from my lap band and had much success losing almost 100 pounds in 1 year! Long story short I ended up with another huge hiatal hernia, that slipped the band majorily. I spent the last year so sick and had so many test. What I learned is 1 to 2 pounds a month is what the docs consider normal. So to me you are doing just fine. I had the surgery 3 weeks ago and I had a 4 hr surgery. I am starting again and my new attitude is we are all different and slower is better!!! CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR SUCCESS!

Torn on getting my band removed

I an 4 yrs post op lap-band. The first 2 yrs went great and I lost a lot of wt...almost 100 pounds. The last 2 yrs have been horrible. I would still get small Fluid added and then I would vomit. I was not that honest with my surgeon. I ended up with aspirational pneumonia with fever of 105, had a vocal polyp, had lesion on lung..had to have a cat scan with contrast of my chest, abdomen, and pelvis, 2 endoscopies, and about 2 upper GI series. The results is all my secret vomiting caused delayed emptuing of food from esophagus to pouch, which pu pressure on my belt, and I ended up with a hiatal hernia. So after almost 18 months of this they took all the fluid out and I gained 20 pounds, I have to have surgery July 1st to have hernia fixed, the are going to readjust belt and then stitch my stomach (not sleeve) but stitch it so it will not put some pressure on the belt again, Story long and short is you always want more. I think the band works but it needs to be a slow weight loss and just keep at it and try not to give it up!!!!' God Speed
