My Dr didn't put me on any special diet leading up to my surgery, just liquid diet the day before plus a laxative. All doctors are different. Good luck!

I had some swelling after surgery but not 11 days later...you may want to call your surgeons office and ask them if its normal. Better safe than sorry!! Congratulations on your surgery! Sara

I know exactly how you feel!!! I have been able to cross my legs for the last month and I was amazed and shocked that I was able to after 15 years of not being able to cross my legs. Congratulations and to many more NSV's!!! Sara

I am almost 5 months out and I have gone from 229 pounds to 166 pounds. A loss of 55 pounds post op and 8 pounds pre-op so a total loss of 63 pounds. I went from a size 18 pants to size 12 pants. Let me say that many people have a misconception about lap band surgery being a miracle surgery and that you don't have to do anything but sit back and lose weight...WRONG!!! Your tool will only give you back whatever you put into it. I have to watch what I eat/count calories and do exercise. Good luck to everyone on their journey!!!

What worked the best for me was to get back to my normal routine...everyday I felt a little more like myself. I took me about 2 weeks to feel totally back to normal. Congratulations!!!! S

I had my surgery on 8-24-10 with no fill at surgery. My first fill was 4cc six weeks later and I didn't feel any different. 2nd fill was 2cc six weeks after the first and I still fill no difference. I am able to still gulp Water and have not yet experienced any pbing, sliming or stuck episodes. I guess that won't happen until I get to my "sweet spot". I can't wait, hopefully my 3rd fill will be the one. My 3rd fill will be on 12-13-10. Sara

Hi Taterbugsmom, What did the Dr. say about your pain?? I am having something very similiar and it feels like a pulling or tugging at the port. I've had this for a couple of days now and it only happens when I am walking or exercising. Thanks:-) Sara

Hi, did this pain/pressure go away? I am 3 months post op and have the same type of port pain that you described. It started a couple a days ago and feels worse if I'm walking or trying to exercise. It feels almost like something is pulling or twisting?? Hopefully its just scar tissue around the port. Thanks, Sara

I had my surgery on a Tuesday and went back to work the following Monday. I felt pretty weak but was happy to get back to my regular schedule. I felt better everyday and was back to normal by Wednesday. Everyone handles the pain and stress from surgery differently but I would recommend at least 1 week. Good Luck! Sara

OMG I'm so sorry to hear this!! I was banded on August 24th and this site has been so helpful. As a new bandster the knowledge and advise that is given on this site is unbelievable. So many of my questions and concerns have been answered here. I want to thank all of the veteran bandsters for being so supportive and giving of all you wisdom! Hi Everyone, I was banded on the 24th and was surprised at how painful the port area was. The pain lessens everyday and I feel pretty good today I'm just afraid of bending down. I plan on going back to work on Monday so hopefully I will be back to normal by then(or close to normal). Congratulations to all the August Bandsters!! Sara

Congratulations!!! I can't wait to have a surgery date too!! My paperwork was submitted to Cigna this past Monday and I have not heard anything back yet. What should I be doing to "rush" them? I feel desperate!!LOL Thanks:-)

How soon after your paperwork was submitted did you received your approval? I had my paperwork submitted last Monday and have not heard anything back yet so I'm getting frustrated!! I have Cigna insurance. Thanks:-)

Hi Stephanie, Like you I was afraid to go to my PCP and talk to him about the lap band and I have wanted this for years. Finally this past December I worked up the courage and had all my arguements ready for him (since I knew that he would say no) and to my surprise he immediatly agreed and I am now in my 3rd month of a medically surpervised weight loss plan as required by my insurance company. Hopefully I will have my surgery done this summer. I am kicking myself for not having gone to him sooner!!!LOL Don't be afraid, nervous, or embarrased!!!!
