I just had my first fill on Oct 25th (surgery date 9/11/06). 1cc in a 4cc band. I am not having difficulty eating anything...not feeling much restriction either. Matter of fact I was able to eat a 6 oz steak, some noodles, and corn for dinner tonight......I shouldn't be able to eat that much. I have a follow up visit on Nov 8th so I may need an additional fill. Is this normal?? I hear other people talking about not being able to eat much after a fill and I wonder if I'm doing something wrong :cry Thanks you for any comments or suggestions!

10/23/06 0 Pounds this week for the Christmas Challenge. :phanvan

I haven't been online all week! My husband went ot the emergency room on Tuesday AM and we just got home today! He had emergency gall bladder surgery and had it removed. It's funny how your whole life just gets put on hold. For the Christmas challenge I can report -1 lb. I'm not very happy with my overall success so far. I was banded on 9/11/06 and I am only down about 14 lbs. I have been eating between 550 and 750 calories per day but I'll admit my exercise hasn't been consistent. Compared to what I used to eat you'd think the pounds would be flying off. I don't go in for my first fill until 10/25, so I'm trying to be patient with the weight loss until then. The past couple of days I've been eating more and more....it kind of scares me! I'm afraid I'll slip back into my old habits! Any advice?

Count me in for the Christmas Challenge. I'm going to say....20 lbs. In the past I used to use that trick on myself....to lose weight by a certain date...not very successful for me in the past..but I'll give it a shot since I have better odds of succeeding now. Won't get my first fill until the end of October. Have Dr. Appt on Wed 10/11 will post my current weight then!! Good Luck to everyone!!

Hi! I just joined the group but I was banded on 9/11/2006. Seem to be doing OK so far. Trying to measure food and trying to be disciplined. Do you track the amount of protein and calories you eat in a day? I'm worried that I'll eat too many calories and gain back some of the 9lbs I've lost so far. I find that if I don't eat something high in protein I am feeling hungry every 2 hours. Any suggestions? Any high protein suggestions would be great as well! Trying to find a variety of foods so I don't get bored and get off track!! Thanks for any advice!!

I was newly banded on 9/11/06. The first week was the worst, by the second week the only area that hurt was the incision where my port is located, and I still had gas issues. This week I still have a hard time bending over on the side of the port or sitting up in bed using my stomach muscles. I only used the pain medicine for the first 2 days. It seems that the medication only prolongs the healing. Definately get up and walk as much as possible throughout the day. Good luck and I wish you much success!!!!

Today it has been 20 days since my surgery. I have lost 9lbs as of 9/28/06. I have been able to eat pretty much anything I want. I do notice that I can't have the quantites I used to have. I am trying to measure out the correct quantity so I don't overeat. I haven't noticed a huge loss yet, but I haven't started exercising yet either. Tomorrow I am going to go for my first official walk. I am going to make it a priority to walk at least 3 times this week and build up from there. I worry that I've gone through all of this and I'm not going to suceed again. They haven't made any adjustments yet so once that is done maybe I'll start to see more weight loss every week. Keeping track of the protein is going to take some discipline also. I need to make these life changes or I won't succeed. I just don't want it to take over my whole life and become obsessive. My husband has been a great support and I'm glad he's helping me. -
