I'm really glad that you shared that information. I had a trainer write out a work out for me, and even though I did know about the protein after my work out, I wasn't aware about doing cardio AFTER the weight training. She actually didn't even write me a lower work out for weight training--only an upper. I began exercise about 3 weeks after surgery, and I have already lost almost 60 pounds. I had my surgery on 02/19/10. However, I have been exercising as soon as I was cleared. As of date, I still do not have any fluid in my band, although I can eat a lot more food than I should probably be able too--I just cut myself off. Thanks again for sharing your info.

It's just not working. Any ideas why not?

:thumbup:Are you eating low fat Protein sources? And are your protein sources processed or unprocessed foods. When I was on a low carb diet before my surgery, I noticed that I often had an inch loss but not really too much of a weight loss. Also, there were times when I would eat a lot of processed protein sources, like beef sticks, Protein Bars that tasted a lot like candy, protein "chips, etc. I've also been placed on a low carb low fat high protein diet since my band in February. This is the first time that I actually added low fat to the whole low carb high protein mix, and I'm suprised that it is working. My meals consist mostly of protein sources only, as the doctor said that for now, I can get in my veggie nutrients from my daily Vitamins. But if the low carb option isn't working for you, you should definately call your Dr and ask for a different eating plan. We have several different surgeons in our practice and they each have different approaches in their food plans. Anyway, take care and good luck!!! -
Disappointed..25 days post-op

I understand that you don't have any Fluid in your band, but do you think you are getting all of the nutrients and Protein that you need? I am 9 weeks post-op, and have lost over 30 pounds--and I don't have any fluid in my band yet. However, I follow my Dr's guidelines as close as possible, especially with the protein, Vitamins, and exercise. I also get hungry, something that I thought would go away with this surgery, but my hunger is manageable. I know it can be hard, especially with every Dr. providing their own version of the appropriate post-op nurishment, but you may need to talk to your Dr about changing up your food plan. This can make a huge difference. Just hang in there, and try to be positive. I'm sure once you have some fluid in your band, you will feel much better. -

Getting banded on Monday and freaking out!!
bethfitz replied to wannababy2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't worry.....it'll be okay. I had my surgery last Friday, 02/19/10, and I was really excited until a few days before. Then I was scared. Even in the O/R on the morning of my surgery, I remember watching the nurse put my shot of heprin in my leg to help prevent blood clots during surgergy, and I was thinking, I could just jump right of this table and take off......but I didn't. Even going into the O/R itself, I kept thinking, this is scary. But it's okay, and the post op pain really isn't all that bad--at least I didn't think that it was. Just take a deep breathe, close your eyes, and think of how awesome you'll look some time down the road, and how much better you'll feel physcially. You'll be fine!!!!:cursing:
