I have been struggling with my weight almost my entire life.  I was on the heavy side during high school, but about a year after I graduated I joined the US Navy.  Bootcamp took me from a size 22 to a size 8 in about 10 weeks.  During that time, I received little to no education about living a healthier life style, so the lower weight was very difficult for me to attain.  After several years, the additional pounds crept back up as well as more additional weight.  Since about 1997, I have had a gradual weight gain of about 5-10 pounds a year, which has really added up almost 13 years later.I decided to have the weight loss surgery because, as I find my 40th birthday just two years around the corner, I feel that it I don't take control of my health now I might not have the opportunity to do so in the future.  My surgery is scheduled for 02/19/10, and I am really excited.  Of all of the things that I am looking foward to the most, I can't wait until I can get enough weight off to go running again.  I used to run 5 miles a day, and am looking forward to this the most.  I'm also looking forward to having more energy.  So I am keeping my fingers crossed that all will go well.
