bramante--it is a scary decision. I have a friend that had to cash pay because he had a low BMI, he has lost 50 lbs and has never felt better. He looks great and him and his wife are planning things that they would have never done before because he had got so self concious about his weight. We are here to help you and be your support group. If you ever need to talk feel free to email or message me! GSNC--WOW, I am complaining about a few months and you have waited almost a year. What are you doing for your pre-op diet? Will it be liquid only? I am happy for you that you FINALLY have a date :frown:! javalia--I am hopeing for April too, but with the way my insurace is doing it will probably be May. It's ok, there are a lot of great people being banded in May, it's just the waiting game I hate. anglov--I am glad you have a date, that is GREAT!! It's hard working around everybody else's schedule, but worth it. You sound like you have it all worked out. That is much encouragement for me. Thank you so much, you made me realize, I need to get it together a little more. palmtreegirl--I had also looked in to gastric bypass at one time, insurance would not cover plus I had seen several people have some difficulties from it. As hard as the waiting game is I am glad I waited the lapband seems to be a much better alternative. I have also lost the same 5 lbs over and over, it is discouraging, but as long as you are trying something that is what the insurance wants to see. You can do this!! We are here to help!! new_journey--I had a hysterectomy in January 09 because of PCOS. I thought that would help me to lose the weight, but it didn't. I put what little I lost back on. You can quit smoking! Have you tried Chantix or anything like that? I quit cold turkey last year, it was very hard and is still hard because several people at work smoke but I have learned to resist the urge to inhale their second hand smoke:scared2:! If you find a good Protein powder let me know, they are yucky, even the ones with no flavor!! Isopure is suppose to be good, but I haven't tried it yet. To each and everyone of you--I am glad I have found new friends, that can understand what I am going through. I look forward to staying in touch with all of you through the entire journey. I want to support each of you as much as I can and I know that we will face some challenges going through this jorney but I think it will be easier with people that understand! Have a wonderful blessed day!:smile2: Rhonda

It really does help to have people that understand what your going through. My final doc apt was March 8th, but because of the insurance I have they are projecting a May date for me. I got all excited when I went to my appointment with the surgeon and he said well your through now we submit it to insurance, then got all bummed when I find out that my insurance can take up to 6 weeks for an approval and they like to haggle back and forth trying to make you get more information. I hope all you and your banding go smoothly. What are some of your fears if you have any? I don't necessarily mean with the surgery but after the surgery, if you even have any. My main fear is not losing the amount of wait I want to, even though I have set myself a long term goal of 2 years to get to that point.

Kristy~ Hey Disney that sounds like fun, just remember take lots of pictures while your there and then when you and your fiance go back again, you can look at the new pictures and say to yourself "wow, that was the old me and look at me now!". I know it has to be a little discouraging for you to have to put it off, but it will all work out. I had the same problem you had with your nutrientist, but mine was with the psycologist. Finally, they found me another place to go and luckily it kept me from being behind. I wish you all the luck in the world, and I hope everything works in your timeline.

Kristy~it does seem like you have been through a very long process. I am happy for you and excited that you have all the requirements met. I hope you get your date soon! That is what I am waiting on and the surgeons office said it could be as soon as next week when we here the "official" approval and can set a date!

Are you nervous about having the surgery in Mexico? Will it be hard for you to find a doctor to do the fills?

Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Surgery in 3 months
ms.rhonda replied to Tally23's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Dawn, I have heard other people say that your taste changes. I have also heard people refer to the lapband as a tool. I think that is what I am trying to keep my mind set as, it is a life changing tool. Is it hard, once you have the surgery, to come to the realization that this is it, you finally have a chance to lose the weight? How has it been for you? -
Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Surgery in 3 months

Tally, I am sorry you have been in the hospital. Have you started following the low-fat diet? If so are you also journaling food intake? -
My prerequisites for surgery are a whole lot easier than a lot of people on this site. I have to do a psych eval and a nutrition eval, do a 6 month "diet" program with my regular doctor and the 6 month program with the surgeon. My regular doctor has put me on Adipex, but it does absolutely nothing for me. The nutritionist really didn't say anything except for 1 week before surgery I might consider a liquid diet to help reduce the fatty cells in my liver. She went more over post surgery nutrition care and told me at stage 5, I should follow a 1200 calorie diet. I know I should be watching more closely now, but I have failed so many times I am afraid of failing again.

How have you done on your pre-diet? Me not to good! I really am glad to meet someone with the same timeline.
