I have been overweight all of my life. At the age of 8 I was put on my first diet. For 30 years I have yo-yo dieted and now, diets just don't work. I have often thought about weight loss surgery but every one I knew had gastric by-pass. I had seen good and bad, but I was not ready to go to that extreme. One of my co-workers had lapband in October 2009 and after seeing him the first month, I decieded to go ahead and make the call. I am so glad I did, I had my surgery April 8th 2010, my post-op weight was 370 at highest and 352 the day of surgery. I want to be off medication and want to be able to live a healthy and energetic life style. UPDATE 1/15/13 : Today I weigh 248 and I am off all medications except for my thyroid medicine. The weight came off fast at first and then slowed down, mind you I never exercised if I would have it would have came off faster and I wouldn't have plateaued the way I did. I started a exercise program this year 1/1/13 and I am determined to get the last 75 pounds off.
