Brenda congrats on the TT. Please do Not get a fill before surgery... You need to be open just in case there is a medical need. You can get a fill after you recover. Please consult the surgeon,,i think he will say to wait.

HAve you had a fill? Also sometimes we need to detox our bodies so we can lose weight. Artificial sweetners DO NOT help, they hinder weight loss. Stevia a natural sweetner is better. Lots of Water...very important. If you get a fill and do a 1-2 week deetox diet...fruit and veggie jusices made at home...nothing bottled...no dairy, no wheat, no soy, no meats. no caffeine...will help cleanse your system. then you can add a few things. Many times food allergies we are not aware of can make us gain weight and also not lose it! If detoxing this way does not seem to help...give it a month or so to see...then you need to see if you have an excess of candida (yeast) in your system...that also does not allow for weigh loss and you feel very tired. For this you need to do a VERY low carb diet only about 20 carbs per day...NO starches of any kind! No sugar. Hope this helps. Why spend a ton of money when you have the band and can use it to your advantage to fast and cleanse without feeling hungry.

Dear Brooksie, Don't feel deprived...remember you can have "LITTLE" bites of almost everything there is to eat! Just remember to do the best you can and eat very low carb mosstly due to your diabetes. You can have chinese, pasta etc. just choose the right dishes... whole wheat or spelt pasta in small amts., one slice of pizza and try toeat just the topping, low carb candies and ice cream in moderation. I think you need a fill...once you PB once or twice you will NEVER want to overeat again!!! Believe me! Also... a support group in your area(with a professional counselor leading it) I think will work well for you... it helps to work through the issues that MAKE us over eat in the first place. It sounds to me that your Dad was just rtying to be "funny in a cute sort of way". not meaning to hurt you...it seemed more like he was putting down his eating behavior, not the band. Brooksie the other thing I finally learned just a few years ago and have to remind myself evrtime I talk or visit my parents.... I am an adult and have MY LIFE and I do not need my parents approval or the approval of ANYONE else! It is so freeing and it allows one to finally do things because it is what is best for you and your future...not your parents or friends. It is your life, so YOU take charge of it! No one else will. IF your Dad tends to say things that are hurtful to you, it is OK to respectfully and sweetly, but FIRMLY tell your Dad you are hurt by his comments and it is making things difficult in your journey to a new life. He will understand. Brooksie, I do counseling as well as natural medicine...they go together. It is VERY important to as you are treating a "physical" illness to also treat mind and spirit...they are linked and all three of them need to be stable to have complete health...that includes weight loss, diabetes, etc. Go get your self a book or two of Wayne DYer...get the audio kind so you can listen over and over again until your brain hears the messages. Get his last two books...ask at the bookstore. VERY INSPIRATIONAL! I hope you don't mind my advise...we have been together in this since before banding and I care and worry about you. I wish for you success on your journey, complete health and tons of happiness!!! Just think...you will not only look MORE beautiful...you will no longer need that darn insulin pump! GO BROOKSIE!!!!

OMG!!! I think I just had my first PB yes my eyes were bulging out!!! What an awful feeling...and I do not have a fill yet! I will continue to wait. I overindulged on a dessert yesterday and now I guess my body is getting revenge :faint: I am still hoping to be in onederland by next week.

yes!!! To water and to NOT eating!! I know it mught be religious, but a person is not supposed to fast if they are recovering from surgery!!!!!!!!!! You are RECOVERING...No Fasting!!! really, consider yourself exempt. Elderly, small children and sick people are always exempt...that includes recovering from surgery and your recovery period is about six weeks.

As with any "diet" it is important to vary the caloric intake to fool the body out of a plateau. Go lower than your average one day, then go higher, then lower again.Drink lots of purified Water or reverse osmosis better. Eating certain foods will help improve metabolism, cayenne pepper, cilantro...yummy! and adding more Fiber with meals. You can look up foods that increase metabolism. Also cut down on the carbs for a while...cut in half whatever you are eating in carbs. I have been doing this since I do not have a fill yet and it has been working...slowly but surely....I am at 200 now and almost in Onederland! Good luck to All of you!

I was going to use Dr. Rumbault, but his U.S. based staff was sooooo rude! Especially Cathy. I had alot of questions and they did not do a good job of answering many of them, They would be late returning phone calls and e-mails and got annoyed at questions. Another firend who is also in the medical field also had many questions as us medical folk do and they also treated her badly. She stayed with him and did well...I switched to wonderful Dr. Aceves!! He is a great surgeon, sweet as can be, caring, etc. His staff is wonderful and Nina or Gabt take care of you from the beginning without involving a U. S. coordinator at all, so they are sooooo nice from the frist secon you talk to them. They answered every question IMMEDIETLY and were happy to help. I would go to him again for any surgery at all...gladly! THe price by the way is alot lower $8,500 as opposed to $11,600? Same quality! Link Below www.mexicolapband.com I am sure that the Mexico staff for Dr. Rumbault is ownderful, but the U.S. one is not good at all! I will be callin Dr. Rumbaut to complain in a couple of weeks. I waited until the NEw Year and let myself heal, holidays go by etc. but now I need to let him know why I switched doctors. I am Doc myself and I would fire my staff if they treated anyone the way I was treated!

If a nutrionist is not understanding, then not a good one. eating four to 6 small meals a day keeps your metabolism up, especially with the low calories we get with the band. Ideally you want 800-1000 clas per day, on ocassion up to 1200 of high Protein, low fat, low cal food. By eating a palm size meal only 3 times a day, and less than 800 cals your body goes into starvation mode and malnutrition. In between go ahead and have a 60 calorie lowcarb low fat yogurt, or even a Jello 60 cal sugar free pudding if you have a sweet tooth. I almost always have a healthy/low cal snack in between. I was banded Nov. 7 and I still do NOT have a fill. By having these little in between healthy Snacks I feel VERY satisfied and NOT hungry t/o the day. No fill at all and I am down to 200lbs from 226 at pre-op(one week before banding) in 10 weeks I have averaged 2.6 lbs a week!!! That is over 10lbs a month!!! I had never been able to do that! Have a little healthy snack in between... don't forget your Water first to see if it is thirst or hunger!

In one sentence: The best thing I've experienced since being banded is....
AngelaT replied to Lap_dancer's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ditto for me! Even I have had no fills yet, I still feel the band and it does keep me in check! -
Most will have a little sugar or artificial sweetner unfortunately, but if you get it from Whole Foods or even the ones they sell at Trader Joes, you will do well. Also supplement Vit C buy also from whole Foods or other high quality health place. Don't forget the sublingual B6, B12 and folic acid...sold also at TJ's or Whole Foods! Very important for anyone especially those of us with WLS.

I am so glad you no longer take flinstones...might be ok for kids under 5 but not for adults. I don't know how some physicians recommend them!! Yes, adult chewables are best...and the soft chewables they sell...forget their name, are not very good...one of the top ingredients is corn syrup which is worst than sugar!

I am hoping I can get to Onederland by next week. I wish I had a bit of a fill... My portions have been getting bigger... but it does feel uncomfortable after. How is everyone doing with eating slowly? This week I have felt rushed and eat fast as a result.:nervous
-
Yes, when eat, especially if I am hungry and maybe eat too fast! Noisy!

Wow! I had no idea about Mexico banding.
AngelaT replied to luv2bingo07's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Judy, I was banded in Mexico and it was perfect. i have been in medicine for 20 years and have worked in many hospitals in the U.S..... my experience was so wonderful that if I ever need elective surgery I will return to Mexico. The level of care was far superior from any hospital I have seen here in the U.S. and that is more than 20 hospitals! My MD dr. Aceves is extremely good and wow ...what an excellent bedside manner!! He checks on you at lest a couple of times a day...no U.S. doc does that! Testing is thorough and he WILL send you back home if something is not right with your tests. EKG, blood work, X-ray, physical. I highly recommend it. -
What is this thread about??????? Is it a chat room group that decided to stert a thread? or If you want to keep the same little group chat might be the way to go or e-mail... this is a public forum and you can't really expect members to stay out...especially with a catchy title like steady losers because you will get those who are steady losers of weight! If you want your own thread perhaps you can give it a "code title" which will only attract those of you who wanted this....

Never tried them, but i think I will! :hungry:

Hi Karen! Welcome back! I know you will do just great when you get your fill... you might feel food with two bites!!:faint: hehe ...Let me know how the fill went. I will be in Austin packing while you are being filled. Good luck!
