Just remember that muscle weighs more, so if you have been exercising weight might go up some but inches come off...and that is what is happening to you!! I need to start a weight training program now. I also make sur e i eat enough and 5 times a day to keep my metabolism up. I eat high protein, low carb, low cals as possible and as low fat as possible except for good things like a handful of almonds or a teaspoon of peanut butter and of course olive oil all heart healthy. MAke sure you get at least 800- 1,100 clas per day. check your BMR to see about your calories and how much you need to eat to lose weight... it is posted on this thread. Good luck!

if you scroll down the messages you will find that info... if you go to around feb. 3-6? you will find lists of what people eat

I have been banded for 3months...no fill yet, but I will be going next week for one... I feel less restriction now. I have lost 34 lbs. without it...in part due to some restriction and part will power. For most it takes several weeks to lose restriction...give it 8 weeks before a fill.

Thanks Tom oh and I remember the offer :rose: he he Also congrats on your NSV!

Oh by the way...I forgot to tell you all that I broke up with my S.O. yesterday. It was overdue... 5 years. Although I still love him, I could no longer be with someone who was spending too much time making me wrong, putting me down, making me feel like I could NEVER be good enough. He even criticized me for being obsessive about my weight loss...too much time counting calories, being on lapbandtalk too much, etc, etc. Overweight..BAD! Spending too much time trying to lose weight...BAD! so you see...I could never win...fat bad, thinner bad???? Right now I feel I made the right decision, but I wonder hpow I will feel when I start to miss him and alot of this anger goes away...it was a bit over 5 years after all! I have been trying really hard to not do emotional eating...I hope to stay on track. thanks for listening! PArt of me feels ...:sick

Banded on Thursday and cried yesterday
AngelaT replied to lapband4meNOW's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's normalto feel like that after surgery for various reasons...but it will go away. The pain goes away and the swollen uncomfortable feeling also. The nurse is right...the weight is extra fluid from IV's and also swelling...in a couple of weeks you will see and feel a huge difference and when you weigh in you will see a drop... Hang in there! It is a life changing experience so feeling afraid and like you have made a mistake is a normal part of life...sort of like cold feet before a wedding, or how we feel when we break up...afraid of what will happen next...OMG:omg: life is going tobe so different...how will I cope??? You will cope just fine ...once you see some weight come off you will say...I am so happy I have the band!!:biggrin1: -
Even if it is soft foods if the bites are too big it can cause discomfort... make sure bites are small.

Niecyrennee, Thanks for your post... yes we are all in this together. Whatever we say on Nov. Bandsters is to help out...never, never is anything posted to hurt anyone...only to help. It is important to support, encourage, celebrate...but also we need to be honest. Sometimes we cannot see what we are doing with truthful eyes. or we are too hard on ourselves so we are here to help our friends move forward. :clap2: :clap2:

karen...you have lost 30lbs! Slowly but surely you are getting there!!! And that is really w/o restriction at all...I think it is great! By the way....I hope things are better with family. Let's talk this weekend.

Vikki, You can call information or look them up on google. Hope it helps...I also come from an overweight family on father's side... I have been working on my issues for many years and everyone needs help. I now counsel people as part of my practice because I know it is important. reading inspirational books, watching dvd's that are inspirational and help find new ways of looking at life , etc. such as Wayne Dyer is aldo good. If you have not seen What The Bleep Do We Know ...rent it... it is one to watch more than once to understand the messages there and the great information.

BetsyJane.... Nicely written...very nice in every respect and helpful. I ahve lost 33 without a fill, but not without a huge struggle... the band helps at times, but Ihave had to use willpower I did not know sstill worked...since it had not for so many years! When I get those cravings i will eat a bite or two and then I switch to semething low cal, low fat , low carb to satisfy the rest...example instead of a big piece of chocolate cake, i will have a bite or two and really taste it...if it is not enough then i eat a low carb bar with chocolate and high protein... I always carry one with me in my purse for emergencies. especially since I need a fill soon and get hungry alot more. Balance has a new 100cal low car protein bar...yummy and within a good diet limit I am so glad the fill has worked for you...great job!:clap2:
-
Congratulations Tom!!! Awesome!!!!:clap2: :clap2: It is also my 3 month anniversary...33 lbs without a fill!! I can't wait to get a fill soon...maybe I can catch up to you Tom :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Brooksie, After all of your postings and your struggles I think I would like to suggest you go to Overeaters Anonymous meetings. That or maybe professional counseling... you need to deal with the psychological issues with food and what is behind your overeating. PB'ng is dangerous Brooksie...and uncomfortable and yet you continue to overeat as if you were not banded. You can have your band slip, your pouch can enlarge, you can get erosion and have to be disbanded.... if these are not incentive enough, then sweetie please get help. This is all said with love....

Hi, I make food as if I was cooking for two people. I eat my portion(s) and then put my size servings in individual little Glad containers that hold about 8 oz. I freeze them adn then anytime I want a meal to take to work I have a variety to choose from. I also separate left overs from restaurants as soon as I get home and put them in the little containers. I ahve had restaurant meals last me for 3-4 meals! My typical day looks like this ( if I don't eat out) Water first! Protein mocha made with almond milk or a protein fruit smoothie. early morning 1-2 eggs and fake bacon or sausage (Morningstar) -mid morning If I am at work I might have a protein bar instead Lunch___ 3-4 oz of fish, chicken or sometimes beef --in may forms...with a little soy pasta, or brown rice, in my own low carb chili, stew, etc. and always with some veggies. Mid-afternoon- coffee and a protein bar---low carb or a jello 60 cal pudding dinner-3-4oz of chicken, fish or other ( all organic by the way...no hormones, etc.) Veggies sometimes a high protein snack if I am hungry after dinner. for me keeping my protein high is the best and healthiest choice. Don't forget we need a minimum of 65g of protein a day, but it is really not enough. For better results in weight loss the more protein the better and also you avoid hair loss, and other bandster problems. I need alot of flavor so I always vary the types of food...chinese, indian, latin, mexican, etc. I just try to keep it low cal, low fat, high protein.

I recommend soy milk or almond milk, unsweetened you can add stevia to sweeten it a bit. milk is not really good for adults, and it is very high in sugar... lactose is a sugar. you can also start with an already made protein shake, add a bit of water and a scoop of powdered protein and you could have a shake with over 40g of protein or much higher depends on what you use! I also eat Protein Bars...low carb.
