my feelings are hurt from the forum
mirech replied to oceangirl6's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry to hear that, I know all of us want feed backs on our post!! I think everyone is different as far as pain tolerance. The port area will take longer. I think even at 6 months sometimes I would feel my port kinda hurting - just a tiny pain. My insicions didn't hurt that much. I can tell you that I had a second surgery about 3 weeks ago because I had an unresolved slipped and its been taking me longer to recupperate. That's why I say everyone and every situation is different. This time they didn't even touch my port, but my insisions still hurt - like they are really bruised. I guess because of all the scar tissue. Hang in there, I know for me every day it gets better. You will be so glad when you see awesome results. Mireya -
lapband revision and hernia
mirech replied to cwcvision's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
To your question about recovery: Physically, is taking me longer than the first time. Like I said 3 weeks (tomorrow) and I can still feel by inscisions very bruised. I can not lift over 10 lbs. and I can not do excrutiating exercise until I go see him next week. Its been definitly a longer recovery than the first one. -
lapband revision and hernia
mirech replied to cwcvision's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Wow, two years? For me it was after a year. Apparently, my doctor only fixed mine instead of replacing. Mine was called an unresolved slip. I think mine happened as a result of maybe the last fill being too tight, something got stuck and my band slipped. I had surgery again and it was not fun. My surgery was almost 3 weeks ago and it was been a longer recovery since the first time. I am kinda scared to get my band filled "too much" now. I only have 15-20 lbs. to go to meet my goal. I am hoping to loose it in a couple of months. When I found out about it I was terrified because I had to "go under the knife again". Now I am fine because everything turned out fine. I also wondered if there were others who had to go back and get this fix and apparently there are!! At least we have had the band for a while now where we know what to expect. Good Luck! -
I have problems eating lettuce. For some reason it will always get stuck. I think everyone is different. I try to eat more veggies now.

I'm so frustrated - I screwed it up!!!
mirech replied to uscgal97's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on January of 2010 and at the beginning I felt like you did. Now I am about 12-15 lbs from my goal of 145 lbs. It does take hard work I must say. But I've realized that the band is only a tool that you use to loose weight. I not a miracle surgery. You still have to work hard....meaning eat healthy and excercise. Good luck, don't get fustrated at the end you will see results. -
Officially in the 170's!
mirech replied to RandomRan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is awesome! I know I get really excited when I see the scale drop to the next 10th digit. That means I'm closer to my goal. Good for you!! Keep it going. I have 10 more lbs. to go! -
I know, I was so confused this last time because I hadn't gotten a fill in like three months. But now I know!!! We just have to becareful. My doctor also told me that during your mentrual period it might get a little bit tighter because of the water gain. Good luck everyone and let's keep loosing lbs. until we reach our goal.!!!

I haven't had a fill since about 2.5 months because I was at "restriction" however, in the past 2-3 weeks I've noticed that it's been getting tighter. It's been getting harder for me to hold down any food Is this possible? My band got tighter within time? I have seen the doctor though withink this time and I've been ok but I know I'm at the point where I feel they have to get some out so I can "tolerate" food. Anybody had this problem and does anyone know why?
-
I never thought this would happen to me, but it is. I'm having really bad self image issues. My height is 5'6" and I weight now 153.5. My original goal was 145. Well I am 8 lbs. away from my goal. Accordin to my doctor I ideal weight should be 155. But I still feel fat. Is this common? I mean I've never been this weight in my life but I don't see myself "this skinny" Please share some of your stories with me. How and when am I going to feel skinny?

In Jan. it will be a year that I've been banded and I've learned that some people are just more sensible with the fills than others. Me being one of them. My doctor has had to unfill about 3 times and then one band slipped. I would definitly be very careful and possible visit your doctor soon. I know I like the fact that I wasn't hungry but it doesnt feel good when you can not eat nor drink. Just to be on the safe side, visit your doctor.

Thanks everyone! I did go to the dorctor and took out 1 cc. Not sure why my band got tight. She said perhaps stress, or something got stuck in my bad.. who knows. I feel much better. I started to feel dehydrated. That is not a good feeling. But the good news is that I lost 20 lbs. in 1 month so I have 10 lbs. more to lose. So excited.!!!! Finally, seeing the results I wanted from the lap band.

Has my band slipped? Really Worried?
mirech replied to prat72's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would go to your doctor. When my band slipped, I was not able to eat anything I couldn't even drink fluids. Terrible Feeling! It also felt like I had heart burn. A very bad feeling. The minute the took out all the fluid, I felt fine. Don't let it get worse, because it will feel worse. Go to your doctor asap! -
Yay i made it to the 140's!!!!!!!!!

Awesome, can't wait until I hit get there! -
Wow, 8cc! At 4.8cc's I couldn't eat anything. I was even having trouble with liquids. My doctor is not putting more than that again. Im thinking my sweet spot is at 4.3-4.5 cc's. We'll see!!!
-
Wow, well at least you are loosing weight. I have lost 30 lbs. so far since my surgery. I have 35lbs. more to go. My nurse told me that my body was just more sensitive than others. I do need a little bit more restriction though so that I can start loosing more weight!!!
-
Everyone's sweet spot is very different. I have a 10 cc band and at one point I was at 4.8 cc which was too tight. They actually had to take out all the fill because it was too tight and I got sick. They started filling it back again and this is my 3rd fill and I only have 2.8 cc. I don't have a lot of restriction, but I am starting to feel it. After my surgery, I has 3.5 ccs. So according to my nurse, they started with a high amount so now they after they took out all the fill, they are refilling it back very slow. So, I guess 4.8 was too tight so I still have to find my sweet spot. I'm thinking I still need about two more fills before they find it. I have stopped loosing weight due to this. However, I'm back on track!!!!

I searched for any "P90X" discussions because I just got mine yesterday. I'm so excited. I will be starting on Monday just because I want my day off to be Sunday. Yes, I'm a little bit of a planner. Let's see what this program will do for me. Everyone, keep me updated!!!

I just experience this "prolapse" my doctor had to take all the Fluid in my band. I couldn't eat nor drink for a couple of days. This started the day I went on vacation (out of the country) so I could'nt come to see my doctor. According to my doctor, this is pretty common. But I am a little scared. Taylor2e: Did you recover soon? Have you gotten this again?

Vomiting every day...
mirech replied to LapBandBobbi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok, so I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who went through this. My fill was so tight at one point, I could not drink water. It was horrible. I went to the doctor and they unfilled it some. Now I can eat. There were times (monrnings) where I felt my restriction tighter and food would not go through. It's better to slow down your weigh loss and eat proper nutrients than be unhealthy. -
I had this happened in my last fill and yes I was too tight. I lost 18 lbs. in a month, which for me it's a lot. The doctor unfill a little bit and I was fine for the first three weeks but for some reason this weekend I wasn't able to eat again. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow so I'm definitly going to have him unfill just a "tiny" more. It can be unconfortable at times. Hang in there.

Sometimes I can, Sometimes I can't
mirech replied to janmorrisrn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been experincing this for my last two fills (3rd & 4th). The first one was too tight and this last one feels exactly as you describe. What is really crazy is that I'm having more problems with soft foods like eggs, potatoes, etc. but I can eat hard foods such as chips just fine. I know I'm not suppose to eat much of this stuff, and I don't but I've been playing with food because I noticed that I was having issues. Then, I noticed that I couldn't eat hardly anything in the morning. Sometimes I even have a hard time with my protein shakes. It's really weird, but I am loosing weight and am seeing results. Perhaps once I get closer to my goal they can take just a little bit out of my fill so that I can eat the way am suppose to. But of coarse, I will consult with my Doctor. I understand the fustration because I feel it sometimes. Good luck everyone! -
Unable to drink much liquid
mirech replied to KRL2006's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I experienced this with my last fill. The first two weeks I was able to eat liquids, but on the third week it just got worst. I had everything you described. It turned out that my band was too tight so they removed some cc's. I agree with you its not a good feeling. I did loose about 19 lbs. which I know its not healthy because I couldn't eat anything for a couple of days. Go to your doctor ASAP. Loosing that much weight is not worth risking your health. -
Restriction? or Too Tight?
mirech replied to jswright1297's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, I am going through the same thing you are. I got my 3rd fill and I was on liquids and mushys for the next 4 days. On my 5th day I went on a business trip to Vegas and I have not been able to eat anything at all. I can only drink Water, shake and eat Soups. But not creamy soups. It's not a good feeling because everything I threw up everything. So, my first two months I lost 19 lbs. for the last three weeks I hadn't lost anything at all. Then after 5 days of not eating anything, just liquids, I lost 7 lbs. How does that happen? I was thinking about going to the doctor but I have lost so much weight that I don't want to go. Oh and another thing, I am not hungry! So, here it is two weeks after my 3rd fill and I've decided to just eat soups until my next doctor's visti (in two weeks) so that I can loose more weight because I was at a plateau! -
Banded almost 3 months and off course...
mirech replied to tamra.'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are doing great. Better than me, and I'm not even addicted to sugar. I had surgery on 1/28 and have only lost 20 lbs. TOTAL Pre and post op. I've lost weight slow so I just have to work a little bit harder. So keep up the good work!
