  1. The last time I went to RL, they had fresh catch selections, and you can have it prepared grilled. They are usually posted on a chalk board in the dining area. I would stay away from the menu and stick to their fresh catch options. Haddock and trout are favorites of mine. The kiddie menu has mostly fried foods, so probably not a good option.

    100 lbs in 4 months

Wow. Great work! Keep it up.

    What else have you lost?

Well, it has only been three weeks for me, but so far I have lost: -my cravings for carbohydrates; -my swollen ankles; -an inch off of my bra straps; -my reluctance to set the goal of running a 5k race (I am registered for one in June). -the habit of seeing myself in the future as a heavy person. Keep up the good work everyone!

    Cruise advice?

    What she said.
  5. I had my surgery 3 weeks ago. I am currently eating soft Proteins like fish and mushing them up. I feel fine so far. I can consume about 4oz of Protein and a 1/2 cut of veggies and I feel full. No hunger pains. Today I went to Legal Seafood for lunch and had some grilled trout with sauteed spinach. I ate the fish, but I wasn't able to finish the spinach. I have a 10cc band, and my surgeon put some saline in during surgery, but apparently it was so little that he did not measure it. Question: Do I need a fill? I think more restriction would be good. I want to keep my food intake to under 1200 calories, but I don't want to get anything stuck, or have pb's.

    Very Fustrated!

I have been reading the posts of some of the more experienced bandsters out there, and they all seem to say the same thing. YES, you will have to watch what you eat and stay active, but the band is the tool that actually helps you do those things. There is no way I would make it on 1,200 calories a day indefinitely without the band. I would go bonkers. I'll be that once you get restriction and start eating solids, you will feel much better.
  7. I like this program. I've looked at it online and it makes a lot of sense. I just had my surgery 3 weeks ago, and my stomach still feels a little tender when I try to run, so I am doing a "pre-c25k," which is walking briskly on the treadmill for 30 minutes. I can't wait to start week 1. I've already registered for a 5K on June 5th, so hopefully I will be ready. :tongue_smilie:

    Totally devastated

It sounds like the person you were speaking to is ignorant about how the band works. So, you have two options: 1) educate her; or 2) ignore her and keep your eyes on the prize. You are losing this weight for good. It is much healthier to lose slowly than to go up and down, gaining and losing the same weight. (And I think we have all been down that road before). Keep doing what you are doing, and keep your head up!
  9. People never cease to amaze me. I have to mentally prepare myself for strange reactions as the weight comes off. It is so important to have people around you who support you. My Mom is amazing, and I have a few close buddies who love me no matter what my weight is. But inevitably, I know some people are going to have to go. So, I'm going to be dropping some extra weight in the form of false friends. :tongue_smilie:
  10. Hi. I was banded 2 weeks ago. Is it too soon to receive the communion wafer at Mass? I figure it dissolves pretty easily, and if I chew it well, then it shouldn't be a problem. But I don't want to risk making myself ill. Any thoughts?

    Communion Wafer?

I received Communion yesterday and it went great. It dissolved in my mouth to the consistency of a protein shake. Thanks for the feedback everyone, and have a blessed Lent! :frown:

    Drinking Alcohol Question

I like to have a cocktail as much as the next person, but aren't us bandsters supposed to not drink for a length of time before we eat? If we are having wine with dinner, it lowers the effectiveness of the band. We aren't supposed to be drinking anything while we eat... Having drinks with friends an hour before dinner sounds pretty good, though:thumbup:

    did you question yourself...

I am so happy that I had the surgery. I am almost three weeks out, and right now, I am just grateful not to be on a liquid diet anymore. pureed tuna and scrambled eggs never tasted to good! Regarding exercise, I did a lot of soul searching. I realize now that I am much more consistent about working out if I am doing it in preparation for a specific, concrete goal. I need to feel as though I am "in training" for something. Just doing it to be healthy is not enough to get me off the couch. So, I am currently training for a 5k on June 5th. I am following the c25k (couth to 5k) program. You can find it online. Best of luck everybody!

Was anyone banded on Feb 4??

I was banded on Feb 3rd. I just started soft foods yesterday. I am back to work and starting to feel like myself again. All in all, I'm glad I had the surgery. I have already seen changes in my body, so I am encouraged. I am going to start walking 20 minutes a day starting this weekend. have you started exercising yet?

    single banded ny'ers out there

I live on Long Island. Banded two weeks ago, but so far so good.
  16. I was wondering the same thing. It's been two weeks since my surgery, and I have been sipping water all day, but it never seems to add up to much water. I decided to leave water bottles in my car and at my desk at work to increase my fluid intake.

    Communion Wafer?

    Thanks.
