To tell or not to tell, that is the question...
bella71 replied to LeighaMason's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Same situation for me. I haven't told anyone at work. If people don't know, then they are usually too wrapped up with themselves to keep tabs on you. None of my co-workers have noticed I lost weight. And I've lost 80 lbs!! I prefer it that way. As I lose more weight, I suspect that people will notice and ask me about it. I'll figure out what I'll do then. The semi-acquaintances I have told have been really judgmental and not very supportive, so screw 'em! -
So awesome! I see we have the same ticker. I can't wait till mine's in the same position as yours. Keep up the good work!:w00t:

Cool Beans.....I made my doctors website.
bella71 replied to Ice_Prince's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cool beans, indeed! What an awesome and inspiring story! -
I am planning a really fun and active summer. More active than any in recent memory. I just never had the energy before. I am registered for several 5K races; trips to the beach; and biking on local trails. I am thinking about doing a sprint triathlon in September...trying to work up the nerve to register! If I do it, then I need to start the training program this summer.

What foods can you not tolerate w/band?
bella71 replied to leroyspuds's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to Outback a while ago and had the sirloin steak. It was very unpleasant. I was up all night, even though I took tiny bites and ate slowly. I braise short ribs and chuck steak in the crock pot all the time and have no problems. I haven't tried bread, but I love corn tortillas with my vegetarian pinto Beans. Haven't tried Pasta yet, either, but I guess I will soon. I'm doing a 5K walk on June 5th, and there is a pasta dinner the evening before. Hope they have whole wheat spaghetti. I guess I'll eat mostly salad and have a Protein shake when I get home. -
How did you decide on your goal weight?
bella71 replied to LapNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5'11.5", and I have a very large frame (broad shoulders, big ribcage, huge hands & feet). I chose 185 as my target because it is at the upper end of a normal BMI for me. But when I was 19, I got down to 220, and I looked and felt healthy. I'll just play it by ear. Whatever weight is sustainable with a healthy diet and an active, physically fit lifestyle is the weight for me. I don't want to be caught up with a specific number. -
I worried people today
bella71 replied to hlangers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It does sound like you are dehydrated. But to rule other things out, you should see your physician ASAP. And start taking better care of yourself. Weightloss puts the body through a lot of stress, and you need to get proper nutrition & hydration. -
Awesome! Keep up the good work, and keep us posted on your progress!

4th of July Challenge!
bella71 replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in! My goal for this challenge is 25 lbs. I'm training for a few races this summer/fall, so I'm going to boost my workouts. That spreadsheet from the last challenge was awesome, anybody know how to put it together? -
Mother's Day Challenge Anyone?
bella71 replied to MommyOf1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I met my weight loss challenge goal. I'm so thrilled. This challenge was just what I needed to get into the weight loss groove. I am drinking a lot more Water, taking my Vitamins, and jogging three days a week, cross training two other days. If anyone wants to do a July 4th challenge, I'm in!! -

Weighing yourself
bella71 replied to Awkward customer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Standing super still is important with digital scales. I'll take my digital one over the old fashioned scales any day. -
Tuna salad with baby carrots or melba toast keep me going all afternoon until dinner. I eat it for lunch most every day.

Awesome! Great news!!!:bored:

How is your life different post-op?
bella71 replied to sb01's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am much more aware of my nutritional needs now. I journal and make sure I get enough Protein, at least 60 grams. It becomes a new normal. I can't even imagine eating a 6" sub now. If I tried, it would take me all day! Because of all the protein I eat and my restriction, I don't feel hungry, which is half the battle. Getting enough Water is still a challenge. I just keep a bottle of water with me wherever I am and take sips all day. I am also much more physically active. I jog 3 days a week, and cross train on the elliptical or walk two other days. I've signed up for a few 5K races this summer, which I NEVER would have done without the Lap-Band!!! I also plan to run a marathon before I'm 40. I turn 39 next month. My weight loss so far because the band has given me confidence to set fitness goals, which I've never done before in my life. Good luck with your surgery:wink2: -
Donated 8 bags of too big clothes!
bella71 replied to gwins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is so awesome! I've been stubborn about buying new clothes, because I still have a ways to go. I've just been wearing baggy clothes, but I can't get away with that much longer... Keep up the good work! -

VLP is right. Regular aerobic activity is essential to losing weight. Get lots of lean Protein. My personal "secret" is green leafy veggies like kale and spinach. They are loaded with nutrients. Steer clear of simple carbs like crackers and chips, because they will stall weight loss. I also avoid processed foods, and try to eat "clean" most of the time. Good Luck!

Feel better, Gina. Take your antibiotics, and you should be better soon!

Great Poem!

Missy, the only one who is being rude on this thread is you. Evidently, I am not the only one who has come to that conclusion. Unfortunately, you seem to be one of those rare individuals on this site who love to create drama out of nothing. That is very sad. Regardless, best of luck on your weight loss journey.
