i think if you try eating solids too soon after a fill that you will cause irritation and then swelling . then you will puke. so i decided that im going to stay on liquids the whole week after my fill. my doctor says to do liquids for a week after the fill and i know from experience...(the hard way) that he is right. . if you get a fill and dont heal well , you will think you are too tight when you may just have swelling......... it is a matter of discipline , experience and education........ if i puke , i have to heal up after. i think what everyone is telling you is true........ liquids to heal and rest........

when you dont stuff your emotions with food and numb out, then the emotions are stirring and cause lots of anxiety. the anxiety can lead to destructive behavior as you try to escape it. smoking , drinking and drugs may be used to escape . emotions cant hurt you but how you deal with them can. my biggest problem is anxiety and not sleeping. i try to get lots of sleep but need sometimes to take drugs. i like the medication since it takes away the stress and anxiety. the more sleep and execise i get the less anxiety i have. so maybe people get really depressed since they dont have a way to suppress the anxiety and then they have suicidal intentions..... this is sad to me..... if im upset i tell myself that this will pass and tomorrow is a new day. i always make lists of my goals and how to reach them. this usually puts my life in perspective and cheers me up. if people have an attitude of gratitude then they usually can see that they dont have it as bad as many other people and i think that makes you able to bear burdens better.........everyone is different but i think we all go through some changes mentally and spiritually along with the physical. it is good to have some support from friends and family.

Tijuana, Mexico...I need referal
catzintj replied to admarino2001's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I went to dr.huacuz for my lapband . i hope you go to him since i can tell you i have total confidence and trust in him. he is an excellent doctor and very talented surgeon. he treats his patients so good. very kind and compassionate. he is in tijuana , in the nicest area. he has a beautiful clinic that is more like an upscale hotel. his whole staff is very efficient and organized. everyone goes out of there way to take care of you and your family. it is like one big family run operation. everyone loves dr.huacuz and you can tell how well they respect him. everyone enjoys working with and for him..... ive never met a more devoted hard working doctor in my life... you totally get more than you pay for......... he does excellent fills too....... i hope you will check him out because you will not be sorry. i just had a fill and i lost more weight already........ he is really good about stiching the band in properly and secure so you dont have slipping later on......... he is good about taking lots of time to talk to you and explain the whole big picture. he is also using the best quality medications. i was terrified that i would puke from the anesthesia after my surgery. they gave me zofran, i think thats what its called. anyway. he gave me good drugs and i didnt get sick. i also stayed across the street at a great hotel. very safe and quiet... i was able to get a lot of rest .doc takes you to get a floroscopy the next day and you can see your band and you drink the chalk drink (thats what i call it), you can see the fluid go down and through the band and into your stomach. it is cool to watch. it doesnt hurt. it took about 4 weeks for my incisions to heal. the scars are pretty small. hope you do well and good luck...... it is a great way to finally lose the weight. i have no regrets..... -
Should I do lap band surgery?
catzintj replied to happysilly307's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the lapband keeps me from overeating. i dont think about food much anymore. -
stress totally tightens me. i cant eat if im all stressed, i will puke if i do. so i try to do liquids or soft food like some apple sauce or soup. my job is stressful so i have a harder time to eat while working....... but better than before my band , when i would eat due to stress and gobble down 3 slices of pizza and then feel yuckie.........

i keep a fully stocked locker at my job , full of protein shakes and soup, i have apple sauce and fruit cups too. im not home much , im always at the barn or work or traveling. so i keep lots of protein drinks at all locations. i do salads daily and i can buy them anywhere..... i eat at the outback steakhouse a lot. they have great salad and salmon......... i also carry protein powder that is vanilla flavored. i mix that with orange juice , tastes really good...... -

Any recommendations for doc in San Diego
catzintj replied to bensmom's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
if you are in san diego you could go to dr. huacuz in tijuana. i think he is wonderful. his office is easy to drive to , plus he is always available and big on customer service.... -

alanon meetings can give you the tools and wisdom to deal with alcoholics... i highly recommend you attend, for your sake and your own sanity. the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. but the result is always the same when dealing with drunks. disapointment and broken boundries.......i personally wont have anything to do with an alcoholic that is not in recovery for at least 3 or 4 years............ even then im cautious. take care of yourself and get help for you. we cant change others......hope your fill goes well. im getting a fill this weekend......... hate the needle but love the results.....

i never had any rash. did you try benadryl? maybe you are reacting to the new band . better call your doctor and find out what to do. let us know what your doc says.
-
good advice from all, call the doctor. maybe they can give you some anti nausea meds.

i think we go through a huge transition after surgery. our mind still tells us we need more food. but , the reality is our body does not need it. we actually heal and detox on the liquid diet. im amazed at how little food i need to stay healthy and active. people tell me i need to eat more. but, i have more energy and dont feel all tired like i did when i ate like NORMAL people.... my sister is so tiny and i used to think she ate like a bird. she does and so do i, now i know why she is so healthy and looks so good...... it is an adjustment. just get lots of fluids and try to get the protein and vitamins you need. i take liquid vitamins... i was just so glad to be home and have the whole thing over with. looking back it all seemed so easy.... good luck.

PROGRAM FEE?! You're kidding, right?
catzintj replied to k_podski's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
just another reason i went to mexico. one low price and great service. no bs............. -
i also had migraines before banding. i have not been sick or had a migraine since i was banded........... thank god. i think it has a lot to do with the weight loss..........
-
i was on clear liquids for a week and liquids for 2 weeks. 3 weeks liquid is even better. the more time you let your band heal in place the more scar tissue and adhesion forms. this will help reduce the chance of slips or erosion later. tomato soup is the last thing id drink. try some hot boullion soup. worked for me. good luck
-
i got a the book from fill centers usa...... good book. maybe call them and order. go to www.fillcenterusa happy reading.
-
lets just say im a cheap date since being banded. went out to dinner on friday nite. after 4 bites of salad and one martini, im like cant eat anymore and cant drink anymore........ totally buzzed off one martini. i used to drink 3 and not even worry about it. the booze can hit you hard and fast. i dont drink often, but one drink is all i can have now........
-
wait, where do you live now.? you are flying to australia for the operation, but you cant keep going there for fills? you will need some support after . you need to have a place to get fills and unfills. you need to have the fills done with floroscopy at first to see that all is ok with your band..... can you check first about fills near you. tell us where you live and see if anyone knows anyplace close buy......... hope you have a safe trip and surgery.........
-
i hope you find a new doctor that you like. i could not go to a doctor that made me nervous or uncomfortable. i have to feel safe with a doctor before i let him work on me. so.... i wish you luck . maybe you need a second opinion anyway. hope you feel better.
-
i think that drinking water is what works for me.. then it gets loose and i can pb.......... gross. but it seems to work...... maybe im not really blocked, but if it doesnt go down and i feel that pressure, im gonna drink and try to get it up ... i hate that feeling........ im so careful, but it has happened before. i only eat a few bites at a time......... better safe than sorry...

what happens to your stomach when you get erosion. does it heal and the erosion goes away. or is erosion permenant??? i would think that scare tissue would form and it would heal after a while. what do the docs tell you about that? sorry you had to suffer and all the money you had to spend........
