Help. Need help with US dr or Mexico Dr.
catzintj replied to kschick's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
The doctor cesar romero that i know used to work with dr.huacuz as a nutritionist. he is not a surgeon that i know of. i could be wrong but i think he was an ER doctor and worked for dr.huacuz on the side. i dont think i would use him. sorry but thats just my opinion. i think you would do well to go to a really experienced surgeon like huacuz or kuri. dont go to the cheapest. shop around and tell them what YOU will pay. they all are willing to negotiate, i think.......... i did... i lost over 100 lbs. i love doctor huacuz. i hope you check out the more experienced doctors first. huacuz, kuri and sanchez, of course since dr.huacuz did my band i can tell you im totally impressed by him and all his staff. great people. kind and caring and just fun to be around. good luck and be careful. i had another surgery with huacuz that was elective and im really pleased with the results and the new surgical center he has. i is so clean and modern. check out his website and call him. hes totally cool and will talk to you directly and listen to you. not like in the good ol' usa......... -
How to check on Doctors in Mexico?
catzintj replied to tribon's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
dr. romero was working for dr. huacuz. sounds to me like he has gone out on his own. i think he is nice and a good nutritionist, but id stick with the doctors with experience, like dr huacuz or sanchez, or kuri. all doctors who are proven to be doing well. most docs all charge about the same, 8000.00 , go to the websites of the more well known docs and get references. i love dr. huacuz. he is so good about follow up. i can call and talk to him when i have concerns. good luck and hope all goes well for you. ive lost 101lbs. feel great. occasional gurd and heartburn, but nothing too bad. im so glad i have my lapband. -

Mexican Bandsters- Need Advice
catzintj replied to isabelle290's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
i decided to tell only my sister that i was getting the band and that i was getting it in mexico. i went alone. thank god dr huacuz turned out to be wonderful. i was so ready to do something and i didnt have to wait. called, made a flight reservation and i was banded... best thing i ever did. just be aware that mexico is a little slower pace, the culture a little more relaxed and friendly, no rush. good luck -
i was a big starbuck fan and still like the occasional fraps on hot days, but now i love the new macdonalds coffee. man it is yumm. i like a little cream and im good to go. i get a large everyday.... have you tried it yet.....

I need reassurance, please!!
catzintj replied to alysedg23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i have never heard anything bad about this doctor.. so thats good. i went to dr.huacuz , but im sure you will do fine with dr.ortiz. you will be shrinking soon. good luck and dont worry, you will be fine. let us know how you do. -
oh ya, doctor huacuz also does the tummy tucks and all the stuff you need after losing all the weight. i will have a tummy tuck by him next fall. im still trying to lose a few more pounds. ive lost 95lbs. i have gone up and down ten lbs a few times and have hit a wall. so , now i work out harder and try to watch the carbs... doc gives you a discount for any surgery you have after your lapband. thats cool. i looked at the new pictures of the tummy tucks he did and im amazed. i hope i will do as well. i think the tummy tuck is very affordable.

good luck picking the doctor that you feel is right for you. i recommend DR.HUACUZ. He has a brand new state of the art facility. I was there the day it passed inspection. very nice and clean. also the price is cheaper than most and the service is excellent. DR HUACUZ has been the best doctor i have ever had. he is really talented and goes out of his way for his patients. customer service is the key with him. call him personally. he will tell you everything on the phone. i have sent many people to him and they are all very pleased. i hope all goes well for you. check out the website online and read . good luck.
-
maybe check out dr. huacuz and see if he could take out the band and do gastric sleeve at the same time for the same price . i think the gastic sleeve or whatever it is called it around 10,000. i would like to know what you decide to do. sometimes i think it would have been better to do the sleeve. but, i wanted to go the safest route first. dr.huacuz is in tijuana mexico. he has a great private clinic. i trust him and his staff. they are really sincere . i think there are others in mexico you can check out too, i just dont know myself. maybe look online. good luck whatever you decide and let us know what happens.

Dr Huacuz Should Sleeve Gastrectomy
catzintj replied to lucartwlucy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i would like to hear from more people who have had this done. if i ever have to have my band removed maybe i would want dr.huacuz to do this at the same time. i read all the info on his website. it sounds good, but i want to hear from people who have lived it and can tell me all the good and bad. im scared to cut my stomach. i know dr.huacuz is a good surgeon but im still scared no matter how good the doctors are......... -
should i pack now or wait to be escorted. really i agree with most of your views and idears, but i feel for the people who are here and have made a productive life for themselves. we need the workers but we need to have the companies that hire them be responsible for there health care and take out taxes. our goverment never took charge over this and the problem got worse and worse for the last 10 years. it is a mess. i work in a hospital that serves 90 percent latinos..most have no insurance and no way to pay. my hospital is closing in one week since they have gone broke taking care of the poor latino population. i think that we need to expect more from mexicos president to help rectify the problem. would it be better to give those here now a one time freebie and then say no to anymore caught after that. may save us money in the long run. i dont see a clear solution but i agree we must act and be firm whatever we do. i see the conditions in mexico and i understand why they risk there lives to come here. the humanitarian in me says let those here stay and start fresh with the new laws and force mexico to take care of there own . but how do you impose santions against mexico and motivate them...... they are our second largest fuel supplier....i love the latino people and i hope that we can figure a way to help them help themselves . i support microfinancing for the poor. check out kiva.org .this is an orginization to help the poor to help themselves to end poverty. it one small way that i feel im making a difference and not just talking about solutions....... but i agree it is time to make changes. no matter what country we are born in we should have the right to live in peace and work and put food on the table , to raise a family.. i respect the mexican that goes to whatever lengths he or she has to in order to feed and protect there family. look how hard these people work. ive never met nicer more loving kind people. i live in wickenburg arizona and these people clean our homes and do our landscaping and we love them and are close to them. we hate to see the productive family oriented people leave. i see the other side. these people have become part of out communities, so maybe we should consider letting people stay if they can show they are productive....... i dont know the answer but i see the loss if we send everyone back.

good luck is all i can say, i started smoking after being banded for 6months. i needed that hand to mouth stress relief i guess. i had trouble with the smoking and quit. it bothered my esophogus. but i have relapsed a few times. the patch was the only way for me to quit. i hope you can do it.... keep trying , thats all you can do.

Any one use Dr. Daniel Huacuz-Tijuana?
catzintj replied to weightshaker's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
dr. huacuz put in my band and it is INAMED, i saw it before he did my surgery. they let you open the box and it comes with a card that has the id number and certification, so you know you are gettin the correct band. you carry the small card in your wallet in case you ever need to replace your band. it has the seriel number and all that stuff. good luck. i lost over 90 lbs and am doing great. -
Banding at Betencourt
catzintj replied to PorkerChick's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
porkerchick, what agency are you working with? i was a model in palm beach florida. i am 5 '10 and i never saw any models under 5'9. they didnt hire shorter women. i hope you research this more. also the pay for runway is not great. you spend alot on hair and nails and makeup etc.......... print is usually more money and worth the time. i think to lose 20 lbs you should get a personal trainer and do high protein lowcarb diet. it works. if you cant control your eating than i understand the desire for the lapband. it works for me. but i got really fat and needed to lose a lot. i hope you think this through and if you do go for it , i hope it works. good luck and be careful . i think you should call a different doctor like dr. kuri and dr huacuz. see what they say. i know dr. huacuz wont do anyone with a BMI under 30 . cant hurt to call around and check. also dr. huacuz is cheaper and his place is way nicer than the other. i have seen it with my own eyes. dr. huacuz is next to camino real hotel and the other place is down in the revolution area. not nice. i think that you should call other places first. see what they say and not rush into anything. also the modeling is not fun. a lot of work and pressure. it is your body so i wont tell you what to do. but i hope it all goes ok for you. -
Considering Lapband and have concerns
catzintj replied to finallythin@34's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i have been banded a year and a half. i think the band is great. i have had 5 or 6 fills. i have had 2 unfills. it is not always easy to get the fill just right. better to be a little to loose than a little too tight. if too tight i vomit easily and can get acid reflux. but., i did learn how to avoid that. i dont eat close to bedtime or lie down after eating anything. i lost weight steady until now. i need to lose another 20 lbs. but im gonna have to sweat it off. i dont eat much but my body seems to have hit weight loss wall. i am between 190 and 195 for the last 5 months. you must be patient with the band. but, it works. good luck. i think if i had to do over , i would do the band again. cat -
Surgery in 11 days, nervous is an understatement!!
catzintj replied to dawnc27wa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wasnt nervous at all. i was so excited to find a solution to my overeating. i had a good experience. just ask them to give you something so when you wake up you dont get sick. anti nausea meds. i told my doc i was worried about getting sick and he made sure i didnt. so it all was fine. i was up and walking right after and felt fine. i hope it goes well for you too. good luck. soon you will be losing. -
so here i sit at 1 am...
catzintj replied to areellady's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i drank a lot the first week and i also drank the terrible boullion. i remember thinking that i was not really starving but i had the habit of eating so often that i was still thinking of food. i also dreamt about steak and mashed potatoes. ha. that will pass. just get your protein and fluids. dont push it. i had a yogurt smoothie 4 days after my surgery and got so sick . it was horrible. the worse puking i have ever done. i would hate to have anyone else go through that. i dont think about food anymore unless im starving or really hungry. i think the band breaks that addictive eating. of at least it did for me. food was what i did to calm down. i stress out sometimes. food would help me to crash and sleep. i wish you the best and try not to be too hard on yourself. it is so weird at first. so much to get used to. i was so happy about the band. i loved the whole experience. take it easy. cat -
help me, guys - should I go in for an unfill ?
catzintj replied to fitzgerald's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
getting just the right fill is hard i think. im always a bit too tight at first, but i dont think you should be puking and risk damage to the stomach, and we are supposed to eat solid foods. the fact that you are losing weight is great. personally i would wait and see if you relax a bit. but i would also call and ask the doctor what he thinks? how much weight have you lost? if you are drinking protein shakes and lots of fluids than you should be able to keep up your energy. be careful and dont go too long with it too tight. good luck. im not much help, my band has a mind of its own. somedays tighter than others. i think maybe stress makes me tight. oh well. -
Pregnant w/ raging infection :-/ (DON'T GO TO MEXICO!)
catzintj replied to NataliesMommy's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I had to go to the hospital this week to have some fill taken out. i dont know why i couldnt get anything down. i hadnt eaten in days and was very weak and didnt have the strength to drive to mexico to see dr. huacuz, so the er docs tried to take out some of my fill. they couldnt get it. they called the medical director of radiology, dr. agha. He came in and did a catscan of my whole chest and abdominal area. he took out 3cc of my fill. while he was doing this he was telling me he used to do the lapband surgery in ohio. so he is very knowledgable. after the catscan he took me in his office and went over all my results. he said the doctor who put in my band (dr. huacuz) , did an excellent job. he said the placement was perfect and no sign of slipping or swelling. he also said my port was well placed and stiched well. he made several comments on the quality of the work dr. huacuz did on me. so this was very good to hear. i post on here often on how awsome doctor huacuz is and how well he treats me. i only hope that people will have as good a doctor as mine or that they go to dr. huacuz. he is such a good doctor and so caring. i think the catscan is the way to go if you are concerned about any damage or slipping. the catscan was so cool. i could see all my organs and my band. everything was much more detailed than the floro. i will wait a few weeks to have another fill to rest. i think that i get stressed out and then i cant eat , then my band just tightens shut. i dont get it. but i feel better knowing that a well known and respected doctor here thinks that doctor huacuz did a good job. -
anyone heard of dr alessandrini in tijauna
catzintj replied to tammydam's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
DR HUACUZ fixed hernias on two of my friends who had the lapband put in by him. he did not charge more and he was so kind to go out of his way and help them feel better. i wonder why so many people have hernias, i never thought to ask. but i read about it a lot. I go to dr. huacuz for all my major health care. i like him better and i trust him way more than the doctors here. doctors here in the US just dont have time for us. they are just one part of a big process. dr huacuz does everything. He even goes to the hotel with you and checks to see how you are . I wish i had doctors here like that. -
surgery in 9 days- getting nervous
catzintj replied to ibchelle76's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
wow, i gained 10lbs before mine. i stressed and ate more. you are strong.. good for you. where are you having the surgery? in the states? -
i started smoking after i was banded. i noticed the acid reflux started with the smoking. i quite smoking and i havent had any trouble since. i wasnt eating much and needed the smokes as a substitute. the hand to mouth thing i guess. thank god i quit. i hated the smell and the fact that i was harming my body, we go to such lengths to lose the weight, but we still have to deal with the emotional side .

surgery in 9 days- getting nervous
catzintj replied to ibchelle76's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
wow. you are so close. i remember back to those days. im over a year with my band. i feel so good. i have some trouble with getting food down. but it is not too bad. i dont have the desire to eat much anymore . i have to force myself to eat enough. i can remember back to the days that all i thought about was eating. im a different person now. thank god for the lapband and the doctor who did my surgery. good luck and relax, you are doing great. i hope you have a great experience . go slow and dont try to eat too soon after the surgery. drink lots of protein shakes and drink slow. you will be fine. it is a big change but i adjusted very well and felt better very soon after the surgery. good luck, let us know how you do. cat
