The labs I am having?? Please look.
catzintj replied to Ready4it's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
cbc is a complete blood count. they do this to check your white blood cell count, your hemoglobin and hematocrit and platelet count. this test also measures the size , volume and concentration of your red cells. the cbc tell if you have an infection by an increased white cell count or a virus by a decreased white cell count. microcytic and macrocytic anemias can be detected by the size and volume of the red cells. the cmp is a comprehensive chemistry panel. this includes checking your electrolytes and bun and creatinine for renal function. albumin , calcium and some liver enzymes are also measured. it is a standard test to give an over all idea of your organ functions. these test should all be normal. the iron and tibc are measurements of how much iron your have in your red cells and the oxygen carrying capacity of the red cells. one red cell has 4 iron molocules, they bind with oxygen and the red cell delivers the oxygen to all areas of the body via the arteries. after the red cell delivers the oxygen it returns to the heart via the venus system . the tsh is a checking to see if your thyroid is normal, overactive or underactive. an increased tsh indicates hypothyroidism. the low tsh indicates hyperthyroidism. the other test are also checking for possible deficiencies in vitamins. these are standard test to detect underlying problems. they are good test checking your overall health and nutritional status. -

there are no cons. but the pros include, a more precise fill. the doctor can see the fluid going down and how slow or fast it goes down. also you can see your band and how it is positioned. this is nice to have some assurance that it is all ok. you can see the port and tubing. kinda cool. also it is easier for the doctor to get the needle into the port. he can see the port and quickly get the needle in , no poking around. your port is designed to take 1000 punctures. so why waste any if you dont have to. good luck.

Has anyone used Dr. Suarez from TJ
catzintj replied to jewel's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
i go to him for my botox. he is really nice. he told me he would do my tummy tuck for a very good price. he is really friendly and did a great job on my botox. he even gave me free injections when i told him i thought i needed more. very nice little office. not fancy but very bright and cheery . clean and comfortable. the girls that work at the desk are really nice. ive met some great people their and still keep in touch with some of his patients. i have a great plastic surgeon here in scottsdale. his website is Mehdi K. Mazaheri website, Homepage. he is expensive but THE BEST. to do my eyes upper and lower will cost 6k. but, top knotch. if you do go to suarez, watch out when parking. the parking garage is underground and i scraped the bottom of my car. if you have a sports car, park on the street. parking is tough there. no spaces. you have to drive around the block 10 times. if you fly then will be easier . good luck. i want to know how you look and feel after. my day is coming. take care -
all my fills were painless. dr.huacuz did all my fills. no problems. but, i had some fill taken out in the er once, and that was a nightmare. they didnt know what they were doing. stuck me 5 times. hurt like the dickens. then they called a radiologist in and he took out my fill in catscan. he did a great job, but he had experience doing lapbands before. so good to have plan for your fills. its no big deal for me to drive to tijuana for mine. but if you have an emergency, you need a plan. so ask your doctor about that. im going to get another fill but im waiting a while to rest my esophogus. i puked too much. yuck. dont worry it isnt that bad.

Pain in the Port, Weight Loss Stopped.
catzintj replied to lbgirl12's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
having pain in your port is not normal. maybe you are leaking from your port causing pressure and thus losing the fill. i dont know , im just trying to think of anything that could cause pain. i dont have pain in my port area, once in a while i feel a little twinge but thats it. did you ask your doctor about the PAIN? what did he say. -
must be something wrong with me. i read these post and think , no way in hell would i ever get married. everyone i know that is married is not happy and not having sex. or the sex is not great. most of the men that hit on me are married. i just turned 40 and was starting to think that maybe i should stop traveling so much and settle down. but after reading this stuff i think it is easier to be single. less hassle. id rather be lonely once in a while than be lonely and married. how sad. i hope many of you are happy. but overall it seems marriage is really a thing of the past. i make good money and dont need to have someone take care of me, but i miss having someone care about me.

Banded 9/2001, now must be dis-banded
catzintj replied to Loser75's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
loser75.... if i ever have to have the band out , i will have my doctor do the vg. i have to be careful since i have had a few problems with the vomiting and acid reflux. but i can say i never was over eating and i chewed. so i went and had unfill. i think im just gonna skip getting any fills and watch what i eat . seems to me like a lot of people have trouble with esophogeal swelling. i do. i dont know why. i have no regrets about my band . i would do it all again. but if i have serious complications in the future i thing the sleeve thing is the way to go. just have small stomach. the other alternatives seem to scary . did you talk to different doctors and get second opinions? good luck and hope it all works out for you. does your doctor in mexico do the vg. my doctor is HUACUZ . he does the vg laproscopic. i think he is the only one that does it laproscopic. i spoke to him about it. if i do have the vg in the future he said it is best to take out band and then wait to heal up . then later have the vg. but you can do both at the same time but he doesnt reccomend. how are you gonna do it.?? what does your doctor reccomend. good luck. -

-
i dont drink anymore with my band since i get acid reflux. but i did for about the first year and i drank margaritas and a few beers. the beer is on sip and wait. on sip and wait. slow. so i did not drink much beer. we really arent supposed to drink liquids with calories. but i had a few fun nites with my friends and never gained any weight . but i got heartburn from the last time i had a margarita, so i havent had alcohol since. have fun.

depends on who you call i guess. when i found out about the lapband i made calls the next day. made a plane reservation for southern california and was banded a week later in tijuana. i paid cash so , no lines , no waiting. if you have to get approved by insurance it may take time. im not sure about any of that , but if you are self pay and dont want to jump through hoops, id go to mexico. i went to doctor daniel huacuz. top shelf. there are many to choose from. but if you call dr. huacuz he will talk to you the phone and explain everything. since you live in new york, you may want a local doctor. you will need follow up care and fills. you can call the fill centers usa and ask them about local doctors. good luck and hope you get approved and have a great experience. i lost >100lbs. in less than 2 years.

hi tricia. good luck on your surgery. sounds like your planning it all out well. no need to rush. all that weight will come off. just take it easy on yourself and dont rush it. get all the info you can on the post op diets and when to get fills ...all that jazz. im sure you will do great. cat

try drinking 1/2 cup warm water with 2 tablespoons of baking soda. that is what my doctor told me to do and it helped. i still had to take out some fill, but it was better than anything else i tried. i also tried the vinegar, big mistake. i burned my throat so bad i could hardly talk for days. if i was you id really try to find someone to remove some fill. how about a local hospital that can do it under catscan? a good radiologist can do it for you. i did that once when my doctor in mexico was on vacation . it was fine. the radiologist said my band looked good. that was comforting. sorry you feel so bad. i can relate.

Welcome to the "At or near goal forum"
catzintj replied to Chickie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i never really set a goal weight. i just wanted to be healthy and athletic again. i was always around 175 most of my adult life. when i got fat i really got fat and fast. im down to 180 and feel thin and healthy. so im close to where i was before. but..... im doing so well losing that i think maybe i would like to be smaller and so i wish to lose another 20lbs. it feels great to be thin again. time flew by and i cant believe im where im at. thank god for my band , even if some times have a few problems. i have no complaints. -
your not crazy. i think you are experiencing a big life changing event . i think it is normal to have emotions. try getting some exercise and maybe write your feelings down. i was just the opposite . i had no emotions or fear, i was only thinking, god i hope this works and i pray my surgeon is having a good day. he was..... good luck. no two people have the same experience. dont be hard on yourself.

oops i missed your update. glad that you saw the doctor. i only had 1.7cc in my band, and we took out 1cc today. i used to tolerate more fill but i think too many times vomiting caused me swell in the esophogus. i think an unfill and heal time would be good. we shouldnt be puking . thats not how it is supposed to be.
-
i vomited blood a week ago. i was having trouble getting food down and i went to doctor today and had an unfill. he said the prednisone i was on was too strong and irritated my stomach. but , he also said being too tight will cause erosion and bleeding is a sign of erosion. please get to doctor and get checked. any doctor that tells you "dont worry", sounds like he is too busy or not thinking straight at that moment. maybe you should seek a new doctor or talk to yours again. if you had troubles in the past you must be getting worried . i hope you feel better. i also advise you get your blood work checked for your hemaglobin and hematocrit levels, make sure you are not losing more blood than you think. also watch your electrolytes. dont want to get a low pottasium. i feel tons better since taking out some fill. this time im not going to fill anymore. i lost enough weight and i work out. but i have no regrets about the few troubles ive had. it has all been worth it. let us know how you do.

Reno or N. Nevada Bandsters out there???
catzintj replied to Success in lapband's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
does anyone know of a doctor in las vegas to get unfill / fill with. i live near vegas and dont have time to go to mexico, but i need a little fill taken out. the acid reflux irritated my esophogus and im having trouble getting anything down. let me know. thanks. -
good luck with your band. im excited for you. i am almost at my goal weight . i had the band over a year ago and lost a bit over 100lbs. you will be losing soon. it is the best feeling to finally have something work. ive had a few challenges with acid reflux but other than that , it really has been an easy journey. i wish you the best. get lots of rest and dont rush. heal first. the weight will come off. some times i drop a lot and then dont lose for a while and then all of a sudden ive dropped more. my band has a mind of its own. i can t eat in the morning. coffee only. has to slowly open up as day goes on. but everyone is different. let us know how you do.

i paid cash, but i have insurance. i did not want to wait till i was approved . no jumping threw there hoops. i wanted to do it right away. when i first heard about the lapband i was so excited. i could not believe that there was such a great alternative to the cutting and stapling. i could not have done the other invasive procedures. i hope you are able to get approved. i lost over 100 lbs in just short of 2 years. it was the best thing i ever did. for the most part it has been easy and uncomplicated. some troubles with acid reflux and gerd. but for what i look like today, it has been a great solution. i went to mexico and paid 8000.00 . i love it there. good luck and any questions email me.
