    August Rush in bandland!

I'm with you! I feel that way too about sweet stuff. I am eating Chobani non-fat yogurt w/ some splenda this morning, and its a special treat! I am meeting with my DR tomorrow for my follow up and I'm hoping he will give me a time frame to move to pureed foods! GOOD LUCK

    August Rush in bandland!

I actually have Isopures, they make me extremely thirsty - I don't know if it's the sodium content in them or not, but I need to down a bottle of Water afterwards to help balance out! Thanks :w00t:
  3. I FINALLY moved to full liquids today and I'm eating a low-fat tomato soup and I have a cream of potato soup that I'll strain out. Does anyone else have suggestions? Does anyone have any homemade recipes that you would suggestion? Thanks!
  4. I know I was told not to life anything heavy after surgery, how long does that last? Can I pick up my 3 yr old who weighs about 35lbs?

    Time lines

Mine was longer because I also had the 6 month insurance requirement. I had my 1st consult on 2/24 and was banded 8/3.

    August Rush in bandland!

I am very hungry as well. Today is my last day of Clear Liquids....ahhhh I can not wait to add Protein shakes & Soups to my diet tomorrow. Today is the 1st day I am actually feeling good, I picked up the house and will do some more house work later. I am still tired and not sleeping well at night. I'm back to work on Wednesday, not looking forward to that!

How long before back to work??

I had surgery on Tuesday, I'm going back to work on the following Wednesday, so 6 days off. Honestly, I wish it was more.
  10. I'm 5 days out from being banded and I'm still having left shoulder pain from gas as well as when I take in large deep breathes I have sort of chest pain or discomfort. Did anyone else experience this? Should I be worried?
  11. I need a buddy to go through the journey with. Anyone want to join together and keep our encouragement going?
  12. Melissa, I had 3 stitches for the hernia too I'm out of the hospital, I only had to stay over 1 night. How are you doing?

    liquid diet bathroom issues

I had to do 10 days pre-op and then 2 days prior to surgery clear liquid diet, now I'm finishing up my 7 day clear post-op diet and moving onto full-liquids on Tuesday.

Aug 3rd Date! Who wants a buddy?

I know, I'm actually a little annoyed about how strict my doctor was at 1st, but I realize now that he does it this way to really get my mind ready for life with the band. I have that pressure on my chest as well and I really hope it goes away soon! I do take Gas-X but not as much as I should I guess. I think my biggest issues is that I'm not really taking in the most liquid I should be daily. I'm getting maybe 20oz a day

    liquid diet bathroom issues

Connie it really all depends on what your doctor suggestions. Most doctors will give you a list of the allowable foods before and after surgery.

    Pressure in my chest?

THANK YOU! I feel SO much better now, I honestly though I was getting pneumonia as well! I do have the blower thing, which I haven't been great about keeping up with. Great tips and I'll pull it out now. THANKS

Aug 3rd Date! Who wants a buddy?

I'm doing a little better! My shoulder pain on the left side and if I breath in very deep I have discomfort still. We went to Target & the grocery store today, felt ok until right before we left and it was too much walking for me. I still feel run down still (because I'm not sleeping more than 2 hrs at a time). I honestly am getting hungry and am SO sick of fat-free both, popsicles and Jello, I can't wait to move on to to full-liquid. Hope every is doing well!

    Post Op diet questions..

It depends on what type of "liquid" diet you are following. I have to follow a clear liquid diet (fat free broth, sugary free jello, sugar free popsicles and water/crystal light) for 7 days after surgery, then move to full liquids, which all listed above and milk, yogurt and low-fat creamy strained soup. I bought low-fat tomato soup and cream of potato soup (to be strained) for the next week of the diet.

    liquid diet bathroom issues

I also have had horrible issues in the bathroom, it's completely liquid and will be the color of the Isopure that I'm drinking that day. Hopefully it becomes more solid and things will get back to normal!

Ugh, you were allowed to continue with your pill? I had to stop 2 weeks before surgery and can't start up again until a month after surgery.

    I'm back and BANDED!!!

I knew I was staying over the night, so I had my bag packed and ready to go. I have liquid perocet, but I only took it the 1st day home. My incisions aren't bad, my son is scared a little of them (he's 3) but other than that. I'm just waiting for this gas to go away and I'll feel much better!
  22. I had surgery on Tuesday and I honestly can not stomach any more broth or jello. The only thing that I'm doing ok with is popsicles. I was clear liquids for 2 days prior to surgery and 7 days after. I seriously get nausea with the smell of broth at this point. How the heck am I going to make it 4 more days. Ugh!

    Post-anesthesia ickiness?

I also had a hiatal hernia repair and my left shoulder and back pain has been horrible. The worst pain by far. I'm hoping if I keep passing gas it will go away, but for now, I'm not feeling super hot.
  24. Hi Amanda! Things have been a roller coaster since surgery. I ended up having a hernia when they went in, so my recovery is taking longer than expected. I can not wait to start feeling better and getting ready to lose this weight.

    Good luck with your surgery!
