2 days until mushies...
jamelyn1979 replied to irene2502's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I pulled two out that I made (medium size), I would compare it to slightly larger golf ball. I broke it up a few times and just eat very, very small pieces. I think I measured it to be about 1 whole meatball that I ate. -

jamelyn1979 replied to losethemess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have no idea, I tried a few places like CVS and Target and I was told by the pharmacist that it was recalled. -
Hiatal Hernia anyone?
jamelyn1979 replied to RaeZur's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had horrible chest pressure & pain when breathing in deep. It took about 12 days for the pain to go away. Best of luck -
What if i never what up?
jamelyn1979 replied to zeniada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same fears, I have a 3 yr old and I was very upset about leaving him for the surgery. However, it happened so quick and when I woke up I never thought twice about the fact that I just had surgery. Best of luck! -
Should people barely over 200 lbs or below 200 get Lapband or any WLS...?
jamelyn1979 replied to Froggi's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
WOW, I'm really surprised by this poll. When I weighed in at my surgery I was 205.5. However, I am 4'9 and my BMI was 42, does that not qualify me for surgery? I disagree and so would my insurance company. -
can I pre-mix protein drinks?
jamelyn1979 replied to bandongal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used bariatric advantage protein shakes and honestly, they didn't keep well in the fridge. I did it 2 days in a row and the color changed in the shake and I was a little turned off by it. -
Great job! Did you find that you did each week once, or did you feel like you had to go back and restart a week at all? I am doing my 3day of Week 1 tomorrow and I'm curious if I will be able to move on to Week 2

Lots of questions / assistance needed
jamelyn1979 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1). I am 16 days post op and started the "pureed" stage yesterday. I tried chicken, carrots and mashed potatoes, I gotta say, the chicken, I did not even touch, I couldn't do it. I did have a few spoons of mashed potatoes and also the carrots. I am not liking the pureed stage. I start soft foods on Tuesday and honestly, don't think I will be doing a lot of pureed foods this week. I am fine with Soups, my chobani yogurt, Protein shakes and etc. Did anyone else not do well with pureed foods? 2.) I dropped 18.5lbs since my pre-op diet and feel like the last week or so, my scale hasn't moved. I'm not sure why. I have been tracking my calories, and they are around 500-600 a day. I ran yesterday and burned about 280 calories, do you think I need to increase my calories at this point? 3). I do not feel any restriction.... Is that normal not to feel that way? I am really not that hungry, so when I eat, I'm ok after a few bites.... I wonder if it's more mental than anything else? I'm wondering if I will feel different after my 1st fill. It is scheduled for 8/3. Thanks for listening, I don't know why, but I feel like I'm missing something! -
almost 4 weeks after surgery. Allowed to take a bath?
jamelyn1979 replied to feelfat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never got paperwork indicating I could not take a bath or go swimming. Is this normal to have to wait? -
Installed AND Turned On - FIRST FILL!
jamelyn1979 replied to MollyRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WOO HOO! Congrats! I can't wait for my 1st fill, I'm scheduled for 9/3. Best of luck going forward with your journey! -
Hoping for some guidance
jamelyn1979 replied to jenleigh526's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was required to go through 6 months insurance before having the surgery. My insurance company required that I get a PCP referral. Basically I meet with my PCP (I had only seen for about 5 months at this part) and discussed my history and was there for about an hour. After that, she felt comfortable writing my referral letter. -
Hey there! I'm feeling good. I'm down 20lbs and I've started a running program. I start soft/mushy foods on Tuesday which I'm looking forward too. My 1st fill is scheduled for 9/3.
You are getting close to your appointment! How are you feeling?

64 Pounds Seems Like Enough To Me
jamelyn1979 replied to 2bthinsandy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ditti Spoiltmom - Most insurance companies will not look at the surgery until you're BMI is at least 35. I was at 41 BMI due to my height. I weighted at surgery 205.5 and I am 4'9. -
For the last 2 nights that I've taking my multivitamin (Baratric Advantage) I have felt sick to my stomach, almost to the point of feeling like I was going to get sick. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I been taking these while I eat?

I can now eat anything and everything...
jamelyn1979 replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am going to start weight watchers in 2 weeks when I am able to start eating "normal" foods again. I want to get this weight off and I am very anxious to get started as well. We can do a support group if you want to do WW as well and we can keep each other determined and encouraged! -
I had my post op appt today...
jamelyn1979 replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WOW, congrats on the move to solid foods!! Very jealous :smile2: I'm still in my pureed stage until Tuesday when I can move onto mushy food. Thanks for the info regarding the chest pressure! That's a good tip to know. Did you get your 1st fill yet? If not, did you get your date scheduled for the fill? -
I started yesterday, it was a good workout my thighs are killing me this morning! My next day is Thurs. morning. Good luck to everyone, let me know if we want to start a thread to discuss our runs.

Ok, very confused about pureed foods
jamelyn1979 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry, I'm confused. I start pureed foods in a few days and I want to go shopping for what I need this weekend. I'm super confused. Its seems that the lines are blurred for pureed and mushy foods. I am starting just the pureed stage. What do I age? Do make a regular dinner for my family and puree the food for myself? Sorry, I find that the foods that we can / can not eat seem to the be the most confusing thing. -
What supplements do you all take?
jamelyn1979 replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have 2 bariatric multi-vitamins a day and will start calcium chewables next week when I hit the mushy food stage. -
How Much Saline @ First Fill?
jamelyn1979 replied to 2beskinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor told me he does 3cc's at 1st visit and then reevaluate when I go in monthly for the follow ups. -
How can I get more protein?
jamelyn1979 replied to Twinkles's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was going to just say protein shakes are big for me right now. I'm drinking at least one a day, which has 35g of protein in a shake. I am also eating Chobani non-fat plain yogurt w/ splenda and that has 18g of protein in a 6oz container. -
Ok, now I'm hungry
jamelyn1979 replied to jamelyn1979's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, I'm not even in the pureed stage yet, I start the pureed tomorrow for 7 days, then move to mushys for 7 then regular foods. I made chicken breasts, mashed potatoes and cooked carrots for dinner tonight, I will puree them up tomorrow in my magic bullet for lunch. -
Ok, so I'm 12 days post op and I'm finally starting to feeling "hungry". I had a shake for breakfast around 8:00 and then had lunch around 1:30 (soup) and then have had non-fat plain greek yogurt around 4:00, more soup again around 6:00 and am hungry again.. grrr... I hope I do not enter into bandster hell before my 1st fill on the 3rd!

I am able to move over to pureed foods on Tuesday :cursing: Hopefully that will help! Those smoothies sound good, I can't have fruit yet, but soon enough
