welcome di , it will be fun getting to know someone so far away.. like a vacation. Karen, taco amigo is on state street in orem between 12th North and 16 north, west side of the street. also in PG towards Lindon side across from hogi yogi.. or so... ham and bean soup sounds good. we should pot luck it someday.. just think we would only have to bring a cup and share by the teaspoon... by the way most of my weight loss came in the first 3 months and it was because I was in diet mode.. I didn't get a fill because I was loosing so much on my own.. until Christmas:( then I started loosing momentum.. I had my first fill end Of dec. then end of Jan and then every two weeks. they have put in 2.8 or so. I feel more pain in my chest. I guess that is restriction. I have to learn to eat things differently. I tried a bite of meat tonight... stuck.. a bbq chicken wing stuck. a teas creamed corn stuck. so I am thinking maybe it isn't necessarily stuck. maybe just restricted. who knows. this is new to all of us.. maybe we'll be skinny when we figure it out. anyway I lost 45 pounds the first 3 months and 15 the last 3 months. slowly but surely now... take care everyone. thanks for letting me ramble... sandy -
Well, I got another fill. I have lost count of how much, I think I will ask next time. When I eat I usually hurt. Getting stuck? I need to eat smaller bites and chew more I guess. But I thought It was supposed to get stuck. wasn't that the point.. to fill up the little stomach and feel full. (what does full feel like?) I can sit from between 5-10 minutes and feel like I can eat more. Mostly get stuck with meat or chicken. I have had on PB. yuck. So Am I too tight? I can eat an entire potato with chili and cheese on it with no problems or am I just not able to eat meat? I wish this was a exact science and we would all react the same so we would know what was happening.. Lisa, sorry about your kitty. what a sad shock.. Karey, what a scare. I hope you are recovering quickly and that it was some freak occurance. (this doesn't look like it is spelled right.) BJean. what's wrong with ice cream????? it at least goes down and doesn't give you chest pain. maybe we could start a new ice cream diet. Tami and MimIn: you guys are the best. thanks for your support and encouragement. I hope everyone has a good weigh in tomorrow... cross our fingers....
-
Oh well, here goes. up 2 pounds. damn... I feel like such a failure. why why can't I get back in control.. do I need you guys to come to utah and hold my hand for several days until I can get my act together... not even an "oh my heck" or "darn" just a full fledged damn.....

Hi everyone, My name is Sandy and I live in Orem. I have been writing on this site since Sept. actually started it, feeling like I was the only one in utah. Isn't this great. all of us to support each other. I was banded by dr. Hansen like many of you. it has been 6 and 1/2 months. I have lost 60 pounds. up two pounds so I guess 58 today. the real good weight loss is when you first start and have to eat mushies. All of us who are over weight know that with any change we sometimes fall back to bad habits. and that is my problem now. Vivien calls it head hunger. nerves, stress etc ... I think that is why we need each other. a friend of mine who had gastric bypass said to get a bean and cheese burito from taco amigo. I don't know it it is only in utah county but it is really creamy. I did some ensure and fruit soothies. soft boiled eggs. yogurt, trying to think back. baked potato mashed with fat free sour cream. It is especially hard when you work. appplesauce, don't try mushing up chinese food. it is yuk. I felt no restriction until several fills. then more pain in my chest than anything else. watch those bite sizes and chew, chew, chew. well, I need to go.. glad to meet you all. -
Hello all, last two weeks stayed the same.. 0 0 I keep binging. I do good during the day and come home ravenous... makes me so mad at myself. but I do have a problem . sounds like everyone is doing great. by for now...

the teacher across the hall, who is a very good friend, told me that with the weight loss I needed a new bra. big time.. floppsy twins.. I like that.. MimIn take it easy and I hope your recovery is quick and easy..

welcome wendi, I hope you have a wonderful experience. Let us know if you have any questions. Fasting? I have fasted from the night before to about 3:00 and it was ok. It doesn't seem to matter how long between you eat but mostly what you eat. Karen, I was told that mushies can't be too thick in the beginning. should be able to fall off the spoon. then you can get gradually thicker. Your band is still swollen and needs to heal so you don't want to gather food in your upper pouch yet. enjoy... -
karey, mine is Francis in Alpine. He is new. but it was put off until next Friday. I am glad you said something because I haven't talked to anyone who has had a bone graft.. Does it hurt worse than (what?) humm worse than a cavity? anyway I am concerned. good news. I went to the doctor today and weighed my self. Since last july 31 I have lost 70 pounds.. sounds better than my 60 since my surgery on September 25.. 70 70 70 yeah

I too am self pay. 60 pounds down +-2 or 3. and I feel much better but not great. Karen, don't push it. slow down and take care of yourself. Let your body heal. time to go. have a wonderful day tomorrow. sandy -

hello all, karen I am so sorry about your dad. take care of yourself in all this. my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Puddin, wow. I loved your pictures. help me out here. share alittle of your enthusiasm. How are you managing head hunger.?? we all seem to be struggling with that right now.:help: old habits die hard... Sandy -
I am in for the 4th of July. How far away is that? It seems so far away. I mean school will be over. half my summer will be over. anyway I am starting this challenge at 260 pounds. (only lost 16 in the last challenge) but that was better than gaining or only a teeny tiny loss. I am happy with how I am doing. I have lost 60 pounds in 6 months. Things have slowed down though my last ten took me 7-8 weeks. I can feel the restriction but more so the clogging up because I eat too fast or not chew enough. at every meal it seems. The one thing I am having trouble with is the head hunger. there are days I can't seem to control myself. I guess that will go on for the rest of my life. I should be thankful for the days I can control it. Well, time for bed so I can get up, go to school and then get a bone graph in my mouth... yuk..

Hello fellow utahans. Is that a word. Karen good luck with your recovery. It sounds like you are doing great. My name is Sandy and I live in Orem. I started out at 320 pounds in September and I have lost 60 pounds. But I know how it feels to not loose or do the up and down jig. It took me 7 weeks to loose and gain and reloose etc... the same 10 pounds. I did really well at first and slowed way down. but hopefully I am reaching the sweet spot fill. I get stuff stuck all the time. and feel fun most of the time. I think another 1cc should do it. I go again next week. It would really good if I could take care of the head hunger too. I want to change that and not crave food all the time. like now... How are you doing Jess? I think it is time for us to get with it. how often are you getting fills. I am at every two weeks. Haven't been to a support group yet. Are they worth going to. thought I would try the next night one.. welll, everyone have a good tomorrow sandy -
No weight loss this week. I am going in for another fill tomorrow. I am really wondering.. If you could put into words what it feels like to be restricted what would you say. I can eat almost anything I want. not in the morning but later on in the day. bread is starting to mess me up. I get that pain that comes when you don't chew enough and feel stuck. lasts about 2-3 minutes and then I can eat another bite. but what does restriction feel like? am I getting it? I know I am a late bloomer but remember I didn't get a fill until the end of Dec. I would appreciate it if you all could let me know how you feel. what do I tell them at the docs tomorrow? restricted ? not restricted? thanks everyone for helping.

hello all, down 1 this week. I'm like others , I gain and loose in the same week. tomorrow I go in for a fill. I really need it. I know that this is just a tool but I need the tool to work. I have grades due tomorrow so I need to continue with the recording.... Have a good week.

down 3.. can't get the ticker to change, oh well... one more pound and I will be back where I started 2 weeks ago.

I had an interesting experience this morning. I am only filled with 1.4cc and the only time I feel anything is when I don't chew enough. then I am miserable with chest pain. anyway I have been hearing from you that some people are more restricted in the morning well, I had a procedure on my back today and couldn't eat after 9:00 am so I thought I would actually eat something for breakfast instead of instant breakfast. I took two bites (must of been to big, not chewed well. ) anyway my chest killed. Is that what you call a PB.. or just stuck food. It lasted for 30 minutes. I didn't eat anything else until I came home from the doctor. so my question is should I get a small fill next week. I need to chew better and it seems like I am reaching that point where I will have to chew better or hurt ... doesn't seem possible on 1.4 but who knows. any comments?? Sandy

sorry I am such a bum. didn't go to the support group. I was taking care of grandkids. or else having parent teacher conferences. it was a blur last week. my weight loss is up and down.. down 4 up 4 etc etc... I have been in a binging stage... you know when you hate yourself for not having the will power to stop it. I am hoping for a good swift kick in the butt to get into control. hope everyone is doing well. -
It seems like everyone is doing great. A little up and down but look at us. Like Karey said 5 months ago it was a different story. Well, here I am babysitting for my daughter. she went to Calif with her school and I drove 50 miles to stay with her kids. overnight. then I have to dirve 50 miles to go to work and 50 miles back to stay with the kids. This is my second night only one more to go. oh did I mention she has 5 kids. 12-4 years old. and most are traumatized because of a messy divorce that is going on. so sad for the kids. nice for my daughter, maybe she will gain back some of the self esteem that a yelling, swearing, you can do nothing husband, has destroyed. Ok enough I lost 3 pounds this week. I feel good and finally feel like I am going somewhere other than up and back, up and back. I better get upstairs. I am also being evaluated tomorrow at school. YOu know the principal comes in, sits down, watches you for 20 minutes and says you are a good teacher, maybe. In past years I Have spent hours working up lesson plans this year I am too tramautized by all that is going on in life that I haven't done anything yet. did I say it was tomorrow. Oh well, what is he going to do? Tell me I need to work on a few things, I already know that (I know it is a surprise but I am not perfect, ouch) Joy to all and a good night...

mypov hopefully you will feel something. but now that you are on mushies, take this time to regroup and plan some low cal meals. start slow and work your way up to solids. not that you need to but because you want to. good luck.. we'll be here to support each other.. -
wow, I have been gone a few days and I have to go back 3 pages to start reading where I left off. Well, it happened getting my fill motivated me to get back on track. so I can say I lost 6 pounds this week. of course the reason is that I having been gaining and losing the same pounds for months so they dropped easily. but what ever the reason I will take it. A friend of mine got gastric bypass and her hair started falling out. her doc told her to take zinc and biotine ( or something like that it is a vitamin B thing) anyway I will check with her at school tomorrow and actually write it down. I noticed too that my hair is also falling out. I got some micelar milk from a gastric bypass site. it is 17 oz. 40 gm protein. I don't really like the taste. it is chocolate and I can still taste that protein taste. but I put it in my instant breakfast. It is really really cold here in utah and I heat up the instant breakfast put in the protein stuff and some benefiber and have something warm with vitamins in my hand while I go to work. BUT my biggest problem is constipation (or how ever you spell it) it is really really bad. and painful. the doc gave me some stuff prescription and it works but he said I need to get off it but when I do I harden up again. I know I need more water.. lots more. but anyother ideas??????? Everyone is so upbeat about how they are doing it really helps ya know. I love the baby steps. my neice is anorexic and my sister told me about an amazing book that will work for all of us. Of course I didn't have a pen and I can't remember it but I will get it and pass it on. Maybe some of you have read it. she said it talked about eating disorders as a log going down a strong river, she said we will all grab back onto the log every once in a while during our journey, we will eat too much and then when we feel stronger we will let go. sound familiar to anyone? well, this will take up a whole page, thanks for letting me ramble. Love you guys, I couldn't do this without you... sandy

happy monday everyone. mypov when you go in for your fill ask for a little bit more than normal. I know they are careful. but usually the first fill doesn't do much. in a 4 cc band I had 1 cc my first fill and couldn't tell the difference. then .4 the only difference I feel now is like JDru I feel pain in my chest if I eat to fast or too big of bites and don't chew enough. got to go finish later -
hello all. I went to the doctor today and got another fill. .4 for a total of 1.4. that doesn't seem very much.those of you that have restriction in this size band, how much of a fill do you have?????? but I was down 3.5 pounds for the month. of course it is the same 3 pounds I have lost and gained 4 times. hopefully, like MinIn I will loose the week after the fill. at least I won't be able to eat tonight or tomorrow night... well, Gray's anatomy is on.. got to go.. there are priorities
