Hello Feb. 2010 Bandsters! Checking in and looking for some support... My weight loss has been stalled for a good 5 months now. Even when I had a little more restriction I was not losing weight. Is this it for me? Did the Lap Band do all that is could for me? I am feeling very disappointed. Honestly, I thought the weight loss would be easier then this. I feel like I have to do the rest on my own, like the old days before the lap band. Maybe I should have done bypass, maybe I still should...

Hope I am not overfilled...

Just checking in...Did you get an unfill? I am feeling the same exact way. Water going down very slowly, trickle, trickle... I got my 2nd fill 2 days ago and was stuck yesterday for 2 hours, sliming and PBing. Water goes down very slowly... I have an appt. this afternoon for a little unfill, but part of me wonders if I should wait it our another day. I hear the post fill swelling last about 3 days... I need restriction but need to be able t function without carrying around an empty water bottle to slime and PB in...I know, kind of gross.:w00t: -
The stats are listed on the signature for Panfisher Surgery Date 2/23/10 Fill 3/25/10 3 cc in a 14 cc band Fill 4/8/10 1.5 cc Fill 4/22/10 .7 cc Don't compare yourself! I was banded on 2/24 and had my first fill last week. I do not need another fill. I am still in the learning stages with the band. I have not lost tons of weight and find that I need to use will power at times. But I am progressing toweards my goal, which is what matters. Talk to your doctor at your next appt. about your frustration.

I had my 1st fill 4 days ago and I still have so much trapped gas. I have been in so much pain from the gas. Very uncomfortable, GasX doesn't help. I can eat and drink ok, I just hope the gas subsides soon!!

My doctor doesn't use numbing medication because he said it hurts more then just the little needle prick from the fill. The prick really didn't hurt much, it was just weird to feel the sucking of the fluid then the pushing in of the fluid. I think I'm just going to go to bed. My stomach is sooo gassy and cramping....I was feeling great!

Had my first fill this morning. Wow, my stomach hurts...I am so gassy and crampy! Does this make sense with a fill? I think I now have 4cc in my band. It was installed/primed with 2cc at surgery on.

Hang in there. Again, it is hard not to compare yourself to other people, but don't. Everyone's body is different. My dr. recommends 60-70+ grams of protein per day and about 1200 calories. I want to lose weight but not too fast because I don't want tons of loose skin. Also if you loose really fast in the beginning it can get even harder as you hit plateaus and need to cut more calories. The only exercise my dr. wants me to do is walking, but I have started doing floor exercise, which are slow gentle movements for my legs and butt and some arm work...maybe some squats too...just slow and easy :)'

Hang in there! You are journaling everything you eat and drink? Keeping track of your protein level and calories? Maybe call the nutritionist on staff and talk with them. Hopefully your office has a support system for you. I think my body went into shock in the liquids, as soon as I started on soft foods, I gained 3 pounds, consuming only 1000 calories. I think you body may need some time to adjust to the different way of eating. Good Luck!

Checking in.... How is everyone doing? Chime in.... I can't believe I am finally 7 days post op. I feel worlds better, starting to almost feel like myself again. I am taking my journey 1 day at a time. I aim to make it through each day as prescribed. Granted Sat. can't come soon enough so I can move to mushies. Anyone using scar cream on their incisions? My dr. said not for 3 weeks, which seems like a long time. Have you seen your dr.? My 1st post op isn't until 4 weeks post op. Seems like a long time....hmmm Spring is almost here:)

I would guess you are not consuming enough calories. My body shuts down and wont drop weight. For that reason I have been making my protein shakes with Nf milk & adding a little Greek yogurt for more protein & a little fat. Maybe ask your Dr if you can add strained cream soups or mushies Hang in there:)

I was hoping some of you who are a little further along then I could offer me some information. I am 6 days post op and have developed a "cramping" on my left lower side. It almost feels like the kind of cramp you would get after drinking water and running.... Did anyone experience this? Granted I do have diarrhea 3+ times per day. I guess I am just a little concerned about band slippage since I read so much about it here. I do also have sharp pains about 1 inch below the port incision but I am guessing that is the actual port rubbing against my inside making it home. ?? Besides that I am having trouble getting comfortable sleeping on my right side, port center left and am looking forward to sleeping on my stomach again. How long before you could sleep on your stomach? Thank you for your input and advice!!
