Does lap band work for total Hysterectomy weight gain??
DiscoDiva replied to wickedme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I understand how you feel about the weight gain after your HYST. I had a total one done when I was 35 and then I quit smoking.....oh boy what a combo. I am now 51. I had the Lap Band done Feb of 07. I have lost 76 lbs as of today. The weight came off nice and slow but now I am just sitting here not doing much. Partly my fault, just not as active as I should be. But I still lost 15 pounds over the winter so I am still very happy that I had it done or I would still be gaining instead of losing. I can tell you I feel a thousands times better than I did before. I have much more get up and go then I have in years. Go for it and have it done. Its not an easy fix, because you still have to work at it but it is one helpful tool. Good luck, Debbie -
Hi, I had to have a GreenField Filter put in before I did the lap band because I had the bloodclots that were not dangerous the ones under the skin.....BUT I am sooooo glad that they talked me into getting it. A week after the band, I ended up with DVT's in the right leg. Spent a week in the hospital. Then because my husband travels with his job and my daughter works and go's to collage I needed someone with me all the time. So I ended up in a nursing home for 3 weeks. But the first week I was there I got DVT's in the left leg.... OH what a mess. If I hadn't had the greenfield filer it could have killed me. I don't know if that is the same thing they want to put in you or not. Good luck, and if the Dr's think you need it then maybe you better do it.. I'm glad I did. Debbie

Any good cottage cheese flavorings?
DiscoDiva replied to foxboro jim's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I never liked cottage cheese, unless it was loaded with Pineapples or peaches and the juices. But I bought some Breakstones lowfat cottage cheese and I like it all by it's self with nothing added. Give it a try, it has a nice flavor to it. -
Hi, I was banded on Feb 14th, 07 and I cannot eat pancakes or waffles! I have a wonderful waffle maker and I enjoy making them.... So I make them for everyone else. LOL Good luck if you go to the pancake dinner. I hope you can eat one and enjoy it. Debbie

We have this insurance. I only have good things to say about them. I was approved very fast for my lap band and so was my daughter.

Danger! Wife Nearly Died From Surgery
DiscoDiva replied to tallywag's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have been watching your weight drop and drop. I started out at 291 lbs, and I have lost around 65 lbs so far. I was banded Feb 14th. 07 so it hasn't been a year yet. I have just stopped but I haven't gained any. I haven't lost any weight since around Sept. So my question to you is how are you doing it?? Any advice will be welcomed. I am eating the same as I was from the very start. Thanks, Debbie :help: :scared: :angry -
Hello everyone, I mix my Unflavored unjury with a product that I get off Home Shopping Network. HSN.com - The Original Site for Home Shopping. It's made by Andrew Lessman. It is a Meal replacement. With lots of vitimans in it and also it mixes with waterand only 70 calories! It also comes in different flavors and has 7 grams of protein and then I add the unflavored Unjury with it for a total of 27 grams of protein. It mixes well, with no grit. I love it. I have tried the chocolate, coffee, and the vanilla. Next I am going to try the pinacolada flavor. Everyone on HSN said it was great. Good luck. Debbie

Anyone interested in purchasing a Bodybug?
DiscoDiva replied to juliegeraci's topic in Fitness & Exercise
How much are they going to be? Also what is the regular price for one? Thanks, Debbie -
I use unjury. I buy the unflavored and mix it with anything. It has 20g of protein in a serving. I also use Perfectly Protein, which I found at Sam's club. It is also in the organic part of a regular store. I have tried the vanilla Chai Tea, and the coffee. They have 10g of protein in a 8oz glass. So I use the Perfectley protein which is a liquid and use a scoop of the Unjury and shake it up together and I have 30g of protein. I use it in the mornings because It is harder for me to eat anything until later in the day. Also I know that I have at least 30gs of what the dr wants me to have. At least 50 or 60 a day. You can get on Unjury.com and look at the different types of protein powders that they have. Good luck. I also use the Snickers Engergy bars.. They have 17g of Protein..but Higher in Suger but I am still losing weight, so they aren't hurting me that much. LOL Debbie

What a pair of jeans can do for lost hope!
DiscoDiva replied to Texas_Mom_5573's topic in Insurance & Financing
I know where you are coming from. Just this week I tried on 2 pair of pants, one being a pair of jeans. I looked at the first pair and said to myself...no way these babies are going to fit...whoopie they fit. Then on to the Jean's, they also fit. I was so happy, I showed my husband, and then I told everyone! LOL Just keep up the good work. I have lost around 49 or 50 Lbs and I still want to lose another 90, to a hunderd more. I will judge that after I see what I look like. :clap2: -
I feel the same way you do. I have had 2 fills so far. I can still eat a lot. I can eat a whole ground chuck burger with cheese on it, (no bun) and a whole ear of corn!! whats up with that. I am getting confused because I really never feel like I am getting stuffed. Now I do get stuck sometimes and get that little problem taken care of and the I can finish my meal. I have a hard time eating much, with my first meal of the day. I will eat a protein bar and coffee and that goes down fine, but anything else and I'm stuck. I know I am eating too much and I am a slow loser too. I am getting a fill on Aug 22. Mean time, any suggestion on what to do to help me? I have a 4cc band and I have 2cc in the band. Thanks, Debbie
-
I understand what you mean. I can eat a taco from taco bell with no problem, but if I eat chicken or anything that is really healthy I get stuck. I have had to go to the restroom at a resturant and stick my finger in to get it to come up! I don't enjoy doing this but I can't just sit there and slime all over the place either. I can eat popcorn and I have heard others say that it is really hard for bander to eat....well then what's going on with me?? LOL I can also eat scrambled eggs some days and other days I get stuck. Is anyone else having this problem? I have had 3 fills and have 2cc's in my 4cc band. Good luck, Debbie

Sorry to tell you this, but Crystal light has no Protein in it. But it is a tasty drink with no calories.

Hi, I also noticed that my hair is falling out when I wash it. I have short hair and it is already fine, so I may go bald! LOL I also have not lost much weight either. I got off to a bad start, the week after my surgery, I got blood clots in my legs and I its been a very slow come back for me. Have you been taking your vitimans? Good luck with your hair. Debbie
-
I know what you mean, I was banded on Feb 14th and I have only had one fill. I Had Blood clots a week after and was in the hospital and then a nursing home for another 3 weeks. That is why I have had only one fill. I am due another one in a couple of weeks and I hope it helps more than the first one. I can still eat just about anything I want and any amount. I do try to eat right and a smaller amount. Due to everything that happened to me health wise, and being in the bed for about a month I have only lost around 11 or 12 pounds. I am so not happy about this. So I hope this fill helps me out this time. Debbie

I was told, Im ruining my surgery
DiscoDiva replied to hotpink_bubbles's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, Just wanted you to know that I have been able to get more than I thought I should, yes even pizza. LOL I haven't had a fill yet either. I was banded on Feb 14th, but one week later I ended up with Deep Vain Clots also. Is this what you had? I spent a Week in the hospital and then I needed to go to a nursing home because I could't do things for myself and my family all work. So after being there for a week I got clots in my other leg, so I was there for 3 weeks total. Not a fun time for me at all. I still am not up to being my old self. Still very weak when I try to do things around my house. Did your dr tell you what caused your clots? I am still not sure about mine. Just wondering how you did with your clots and if you could give me some details that might give me some insite to my problems. Keep your chin up I feel the same way you do about being able to get. Maybe we will do better after 2 or 3 fills. Debbie -

Hi again Valentine, Yes I live in Ohio, and my grandkids and stepdaugher and her husband live in Greenwood. My daughter still lives with us and will until she graduates from Collage. I like her still living at home she is one of best friends even if we still do cross words some days. LOL I am having pain at the port site. Mostly if I cough or roll over in the bed. OUCH Have you been on the scale yet? We couldn't wait..LOL I think she has lost over 9 lbs and I have lost around 6. She will lose faster because she is younger and I take many meds. Oh well any loss will be better than none. We have been eating soups and other liquid stuff, even pudding. Tomorrow is our week and I think I am going to make me some mashed pot and gravy, yum that sounds good. Tonight I made a large pot of homemade creamed soup and I am having some of that tonight. I wonder if I still can't drink anything at this stage with meals even if it is liquid meals? What has your Dr told you about what to eat now? Well I better get off here and get ready for some soup. Hi Valentine, I too was banded on Feb 14th (and my daughter). I know what your going through. I am a little grumpy today!! Not really sure why but I am. I want to eat and not really sure what is right or wrong. I ate cream of wheat and that was good, but I felt like I could have eaten more, but I know that I don't really need to do that. I am very tired today. I have esptine bar virus (spelled wrong) and Low blood sugar. Maybe that's why I feel grumpy and crappy all in a nut shell. Oh well, we should be fine later on, I hope. I am 50 and I have two children my son is 26 and my daughter is 21. I also have two step children one is 36 and one is 33. So I also have 4 grandkids that live in IN. They are great kids, love them to death. Married to a great man In July it will be 29 years. Keep me posted on how you are doing and what you are eating. LOL Debbie -

I do have a question for anyone that can answer it. We are still on full liquids and we are just eating our protein shakes and soup and juices, water, sf popicles How much do you eat at a time and how often? I am getting hungry and I don't want to over eat. We both don't feel like we have any restriction. Well, some but not much. Liquids go down fast and smooth. When I eat soup I only eat around a half a cup and Im ok, but I feel like I could eat some more. Just let me know. Thanks Debbie

Hi Mike, I am with Paige, you can't go wrong with Dr. Shumacher or Sycamore hospital. My daughter and I had our bands put in on Feb 14th. We had wonderful care while we were there. I understand why you would't want to drive this far, but if you change your mind, you will have a wonderful experience with both, Dr and Hospital. Debbie

Thanks Paige, My daughter and I had some of the Tom/garlic tonight, it was great but very filling LOL It was the stuff in the box. So far so good. I am having some trouble with my Meds. Hi everyone, My daughter and I just got home from the hospital !!! I am doing pretty well, my daughter is hurting more than I am. She has never had any surgery in her life, so her pain is harder on her. Everyone at the hospital was wonderful ! Such a nice staff. I am just starting to feel the gas rumbling in my tummy, and she has none of this yet. I just hope I can walk it all out. LOL Mindful, as for lunch on March 5th, I think I can make it, just not sure about my daughter. She may have to work that day. Well I will chat more later, I need to make some jello, yum yum. Talk to you later. Debbie
