Pissed Off! Need Somebody To Talk Me Down...

I know the feeling, it truly makes you wanna skip the whole process, but when you think about light at the end of the tunnel you're reminded why you started this journey in the first place. I can go on and on about water weight, muscle vs. fat to explain the weight gain and as logical as it is it doesn't make you or any of us feel any better when the numbers on the scale go UP. A week and a half go, I got on the scale, log my weight, had my band adjusted ate properly, exercised 3 days out of 7, got back on the scale the following week and had gained 10 freaking pounds. So trust me when I say, I feel your pain. I encourage you to hang in there, keep your head up and keep doing the right thing and it'll all pay off in the end.

    Illinois Lap Band Fill Docs??

Hi Blondee, happy to see you had your wls the same day I had mine. Although my surgery was performed in the states, I was still looking for a different doctor to do my fills. I don't know if you have tried Synchrony Chicago Weight Loss in Oakbrook, IL. You can try them, I think they'll want specific information about your surgery. Good luck, I hope you don't have travel back to Mexico for a fill.

Need Help Getting Back On Track

I'm really having a hard time getting back on track. Can't seem to get motivated, I wish there were a support group in my neighborhood. Little Company of Mary support group only meet once a month. If anyone had their surgery done at LCM in Chicago and know of a LB support group please let me know. Thank God I have some restriction, although I could use a fill. Maybe if I get a fill that might give me the boost I need to get back on track.

Hi Q-tee, I'm glad you're doing well. It looks like you're off to good start, but brace yourself cuz it only gets better. Don't worry about having a scale right away so when you do weigh in it'll be a pleasant surprise. I'm really looking to get back on track.

When will I start eating less

I agree, restriction of food consumption is certaibly the reason we all have the lap band. It can be really hard when you don't have restriction, most us have not learned or mastered healthy eating. I would suggest getting some support which makes you accountable. No one likes to report bad news, stay focused.

    1 week down 4 days to go!!!OMG!

Stay focused, it seems like you have a pretty good handle on things. I wish I could say the same thing for myself. It has been extremely hard, it seems like I am always hungry. I think it's time that I seek support, I do better when I have the ACCOUNTABILITY factor working. Maybe I can take some notes from you

    chicago bandsters reunite 2010

Hi Maria, I have been fine in the last few months, the first four months was kind of rough. I couldn't eat very much at all, so I lost nearly 70lbs during that period of time. Now that I'm able to eat and keep it down my weight loss has tapered off, I'm holding steady at the 70lbs down :frown:. I live in the south suburbs (Richton Park) but I'm very familiar with Humbolt Park, in fact I used to live there many years ago. I'm in the city quite often as most of family still live in and around chicago. Maybe we can meet for lunch sometimes.

    chicago bandsters reunite 2010

Hi everyone, I've been banded since February of this year and I have been looking to make friends with other bandsters in the chicagoland area. I haven't really had the opportunity to do so but I'm definitely still open to the idea.
  14. Hey CoCo, I'm doing well, just got back from NewYork, had a great time there. The trip certainly didn't help my weight lose but that's okay it was worth it. Your surgery date will be here before you know it, and I will definetly keep you in my prayers. Stay away from the snack cakes don't want to have to lose any more weight than necessary. Take care sweety.

  15. Hi Coloradobanding, I was one of the people who bitched about "no weight loss" in the first month. It is very frustrating when you are making all the necessary sacrifices to loss weight and you don't. I think we all knew this process was not going to be a walk in the park, but when you look up and you realize you haven't eaten a decent meal in two or three months it's only natural that you are going to feel angry that you haven't loss much weight. I think we all know that it's going to take time but that doesn't stop us from wanting to see results right away. Even though it's not cool to compare yourself to anyone else, that too is hard. When you read stories of some people losing weight rapidly and you're not you can't help but to wonder if you're doing something wrong or question why is your weight not coming off as fast. Like someone else said this site allows us to come on here and express what we are feeling, so if that means we want to talk about how frustrated we are because we haven't loss any weight then so-be-it. There are a lot of post on here where people are venting about stuff that's there own fault but no one is going to tell them that. Instead people are going to try to encourage them not beat them up because they've screwed up. So while your post may be helpful to some, it may be offensive to others.
  16. Thanks CoCo, I hope you're doing good. Have you had your surgery yet? I thought I saw somewhere you were suppose to be having it on 4/27

  17. Congrats, you're doing great, I'm not sure what your goal weight is, but you're well on your way. Stay focused.
  18. Hi Bell73, sorry I hadn't replied sooner, I hope things are going well with you. Eleven weeks post-op and I'm do 45lbs. althoughs the last few weeks have been a struggle, my weight loss has slowed down a lot I guess that just means I need to kick up the excise. Hope to hear from you soon.

Lost 39 pounds(!!) but I don't get it?

I agree jre1974, I did wear my clothes a little snug prior to the surgery, that's why proably why it took that 10lbs for my clothes to become too big. @ adairyfarmerschubbywife, it's definitely a mind thing. I just hope it doesn't take 2 years before my mind catches up with my body, it's very discouraging to look in the mirror and not see the changes everyone else sees. I guess the only thing that keeps me a little motivated is trying something on and it's too big, even the compliments doesn't motivate me. I'll keep slamming away at it hopefully thing will change.

Lost 39 pounds(!!) but I don't get it?

Congrats to all on your weight loss. This whole weight loss, size change is a mystery to me too. When I had lost about 30lbs I was still able to wear the same clothes and they didn't even feel baggy, by the time I had lost another 10lbs the clothes were falling off and I needed to go down to a smaller size. The other problem I'm finding with the weight loss is actually seeing the difference in the mirror. I've lost 45lbs and when I look in the mirror I don't see big a difference. People are starting to tell me they see a huge difference, it bothers me that I don't see what they see. Anyone else experience this?
  21. You look absolutely AMAZING! Not sure how much more you want to loss and i know perfect isn't perfect until it's perfect to you, but for the record I think you look PERFECT. You rockin it!

    Is It Normal?

Thanks guys for the advice. I did see my doctor and he thinks it's still really soon, doesn't think there's anything wrong. Did some blood work, have to go back on April 15th. I must say things have gotten little better, been able to get some food down which is awsome. I'm down 40lbs after 8 weeks I guess I can't be too mad about that. I'll keep chugging along. Good luck to everyone.

    Is It Normal?

Four weeks post-op and I'm down 27lbs, this is great but I can't say I'm completely thrilled about the way the weight has come off. In the last 4 weeks I have only been able to keep a few things down. I just started on soft solid foods, however I have decided to stick with liquids a little while longer. It seems like everything I put in my mouth comes right back up. Its really starting to become annoying. Even water, tea, and milk come back up. I get this really thick mucus like saliva that comes up right after I try to drink or eat something. Is this esophagus reflux? I don't have heartburn or anything, and I have never had acid reflux. I not sure what the heck is going on but its really getting on my nerves. I just want eat a little something and not be worried about spitting it back up.

    Very Fustrated!

Hang in there, trust me I felt the exact same way my first week post-op. Fortunately, my insurance paid for my surgery, but that doesn't stop you from feeling like you have made the biggest mistake of your life. The pain, the food deprivation seemed pointless. Now nearly three weeks post-op I am down 22lbs. The weight loss will come just stay focused, don't let the slow process get you down. Good luck, and remember don't feed yourself that negative stuff it's not good for you.
