  1. I agree with Missy 100%-We hope that our partners are supportive, but to expect them to forgo food because we made bad decisions in the past isn't fair (Unless of course they're dangling temptations in front of us and laughing and evil laugh:blink:). I want support, but to expect others to revolve their food intake around me just doesn't seem fair~

From my first consult with the surgeon to the date of my surgery, it was a little over 3 months...and a zillion appointments. Never saw so many specialists in my life!!

You look AMAZING! I can't believe what a difference 4 weeks made! I just got banded on February 4th and this board really inspires me! Thanks for the inspiration!

    How long off work?

Had surgery on a Thursday (2/04/2010) and went back to work on Monday (sore and tired). Would encourage anyone to take a week off if possible...it just wears you down ~

    Hey February 2010 Bandsters!

I got banded on Feb 4th, and my first thought when recovering was "I actually wanted this surgery?!". Every day has gotten MUCH better and now that it's a full week, I feel almost 100% "normal" again. A few things I would suggest for others looking forward to the surgery: -Get your pain prescription filled in advance "just in case" -After surgery, walk walk walk! -Be prepared to see a 1-5 lbs weight GAIN after surgery (due to the IV's). Don't despair. Perfectly normal -Bring really loose fitting pants to the hospital-you'll be "inflated" during surgery and it takes a few days to a few weeks for the puffiness to go down. -Stay positive! We all know it's absolutely the right decision, and change is hard. It's nice knowing that we really are all in this together and we will succeed! I'm grateful to everyone who posts their experiences, successes, trials and tribulations~ So excited for this new phase of my life!
  6. It's only been a week (and about 10 lbs), but my neck is the first thing to be thinning out...

    Hey February 2010 Bandsters!

Tomorrow (Feb 4th) is my surgery too~ SO EXCITED! I love the fact that we had to do the "Liquid Diet" first...made me feel like this all may not be too bad, after all (plus I lost a few lbs which makes me feel upbeat!) #1. Surgery date? TOMORROW Feb 4th 2010 #2. State you live in? CT #3. Doctor/Surgery Center? Dr Papasavas #4. Insurance or self pay? Insurance (except for $2500) #5. Age and height 49 and 5'5 #6. Current weight and goal weight? started at 245 currant 247.5 goal 180-ish (?) #7. What was your deciding factor for having this surgery? SO tired of feeling like "You have a pretty face"...I want the whole package! #7. Do you have the support of family and friends? about 65% supportive #8. Concerns and questions? EXCITED! Afraid that previous surgeries may cause an obstacle.
  8. I have my surgery scheduled for February 4th...only two days away. SO excited and SO ready! Thanks for the encouragement!

Your post is EXACTLY what I need to hear! I felt the same way about the surgery (that it was a cope out and meant I had no will-power) until my surgeon said "would you feel the same way about high-blood pressure meds? or surgery to repair something else?" I'm scheduled for surgery this Thursday, the 4th of Feb and I'm SO ready for it! Thanks for the inspiration!
  10. I started with my surgeon in late October 2009. I had to meet with a nutritionist (twice), get a bariatric test, get blood work, meet with a psychologist, go to the cardiologist, and then back to the surgeon. On January 5th, my insurance approved the surgery and it's scheduled for this Thursday, Feb 4th-SO many appointments, but I think the end result will be great!
