4 hr road trip 2 days after surgery
Darlyne replied to nurse535's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Two days after surgery, I think you'll be fine. I went back to work after two days (desk job) -
Going on 8 months banded and just starting to work it!
Darlyne replied to jingleboob's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So glad to read these posts! I was banded a little over a year ago and FINALLY found my "sweet spot"...In the past few weeks I started losing again. It is definitely a SLOW process, but like most of you, I am SO glad I made this choice. Thanks all for letting us know we're not in the alone : ) -
I'm at a weight-loss stand still, so this sounds like the challange I need! I'd like to love 15.4 lbs by New Years Eve...and get below 200:thumbup: I can't even imagine what that will feel like! Thanks for starting this thread

Costco has excellent Protein Bars (they have 20 grams of protein and come in a three pack of peanut butter, chocolate and chocolate chip)~

SO glad you asked this question! I guess I was in denial because I assumed that the slime-stuff wasn't really vomiting ...Now I have to really take note if I do this more than twice a week (since my surgeon continually warns of band-slippage if it's 2+ times a week)-Thanks everyone for the gross (but neccessary) info!
-
I just got back from the doctor and was told if I vomited more than twice a week, I should get an unfill (because 75% of patients that do it more than twice a week experience slippage). My question: Do they consider sliming to be vomiting? Should have thought to ask this while I was there! Thanks

Like so many other people, I was hoping the weight would miraculously fall off quicker, but I'm NOT complaining -I had my surgery on 02-04-2010 and lost about 37 lbs. It's weird, because even though my clothes are baggy, they aren't HUGE on me... I would have thought that 37 lbs would make more of an impact size-wise. I have had a few NSV's which make this whole process SO worthwhile (like airplane seatbelts fitting easily, having a lap again  and not feeling like a wolverine wanting to eat everything in sight )...I'm SO glad I made the decision to have the surgery :tt2:

How often does food get stuck for you?
Darlyne replied to Weas123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been banded for 5 months (Feb 2010) and after my last fill, I've been having "stuck" issues about 3 times a week...I'm slowly learning what works and what doesn't-Meanwhile I'm a work in progress:scared2: -
When did you return to work?
Darlyne replied to vflores919's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on Thursday and went back to work on Monday. It's not too invasive and it actually felt better being up and around -
Wow! What a great accomplishment!!-I TOTALLY understand your excitment~Feels like a whole new chapter of life
-
Okay, so it's been 5 months since my surgery and I've lost about 30 pounds (had no pre-op diet). I'm thrilled with my progress but had no idea it would be so SLOW. How are you other February bandsters doing? It has only been about 2 weeks since I've reached restriction and I'm hoping I see a little more action now~ Would love to hear from everyone else

NSV...FINALLY feeling the love of the band!
Darlyne posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was ecstatic the other day-I got on the airplane and the seatbelt FIT with EXTRA belt hanging over...It was such an uplifting feeling (I used to be right on the brink of the belt not fitting AND the seat rests didn't come all the way down). I LOVE my LAP-BAND®... (though at times it's definitely "Love-Hate" ). For anyone with doubts about their decision to have the surgery, it DOES work...it just takes a few months to reach that sweet spot! -
Did I just make the biggest mistake of my life?
Darlyne replied to lovinlife4eva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think we've all experienced what you're going through...Bandster Hell! It takes MONTHS to reach restriction. You'll have a few fills and feel NOTHING and then BAM! You'll have total restriction. Realistically, you SHOULD still feel hungry, since there is little to no fill in your band yet. The 1st 6 weeks are typically "healing" time. Once the fills begin (and you reach restriction) you'll have the "Aha!" moment. Meanwhile, don't get discouraged. We're all in this together : ) -
Labor Day Challenge
Darlyne replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm shooting for 11 lbs (going from 225 lbs to 214 lbs...) Going for that slow and stead... -
what cant u eat anymore????
Darlyne replied to dowhatitdo1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon thinks perfection is the inability to eat breads...I have full restriction, but bread doesn't bother me...it's just everything else that's difficult I can't eat most pork, steak, white meat, hard boiled eggs...forget about any type of pizza...but I could probably live on ice cream, if I didn't suffer the guilt from eating it ...even bananas are sometimes difficult to swallow... -
What the HELL
Darlyne replied to One Love on the DL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt the same way-I was banded on Feb 4th and the weight loss was SO slow...until my last (4th) fill-Now I feel restriction and I've lost just about 30 pounds. I think everyone should know that weight loss will be slow until you get restriction (and that could take MONTHS)-and even then, it's typically a pound a week...I was being really hard on myself thinking I was doing something wrong...keep going for your fills and don't give up~ We've all experienced this frustration! -
It gets SO exciting...Today I actually hit the 220's...Goodbye 250's,240's and 230's...What a GREAT feeling! This message board makes it much easier-especially knowing we're all in this together! I was frustrated with how "slow" the weight loss is, but I haven't been this weight in YEARS...I'm never going to whine again

What is your goal weight for your height?
Darlyne replied to gingerjane's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 5'6" and I'd be ecstatic if I can get down to around 170...and my surgeon feels this goal is very realistic...know it sounds high, but it seems obtainable and I'm sure I'll lower it...right now I'll take just about anything less than I am now  -
GOODBYE 300's....WELCOME TWODERVILLE!!!!
Darlyne replied to Megg40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations! What an accomplishment You're right when you say it's hard work-I think people think the band will magically melt the pounds away. It is a gift and I'm SO glad we're on our way to our goals. Nice job! -
What is really the cause of PB, and how often do you get it?
Darlyne replied to mimirae's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just curious-This "sliming" just recently started with me, but it's also pretty painful (it feels like horrendous heartburn)-and lasts about 5 minutes. Do any of you have pain along with the saliva? -
Wow! That's amazing! Tomorrow is my 3 month anniversary and I'm down about 21 lbs...Yup-I'm a little jealous (but VERY happy for you!)
-
Ready to join a gym...any recommendations?
Darlyne replied to gingerjane's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you have a Planet Fitness nearby, I would look in to it! They are usually open 24/7 and they have all the equipment, no contracts and it's only about $10 a month-I love it there! (it may be my new obsession)~ -
JEALOUS!...but SO happy for you~ What a feeling that must be

Was anyone banded on Feb 4??
Darlyne replied to holliellen190's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was also banded on Feb 4th-I don't get my first fill until March 22 and it feels like it's taking everything I have to control my eating. I lost a total of 14 lbs but basically have no restriction and I'm afraid of gaining any weight back. Can anybody offer a word of encouragement that the fills actually help you regain control of what you want to eat? I was in heaven the first 2 weeks after surgery because I never felt hungry...Although I eat WAY less than I did, I can feel those old "always hungry" feeling gnawing in the back of my head. I think it's kind of funny that we all beat ourselves up for "only" losing 14 lbs (or whatever) in the 1st 4-6 weeks...Glad we're all in this together. Thanks everyone for your honesty and encouragement! -
Will a fill change everything?
Darlyne replied to MissMelissa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So glad to read this post! It's nice knowing I'm not the only one feeling this way~ I was banded on 2-04-2010 and felt like I was doing great...until about a week ago. I CAN'T WAIT for my first fill on 3/24...Hoping it helps control the feeling of hunger!...Thanks everyone for the encouragement!
